Now you all should know about Blue Knuckles, but S3&K can provide more hilarious stuff if you are an hacker...
Did you know that you can mess up the teams by editing a very few bytes?
But I won't bother you with technical details, just look at the video and have fun!

For those who don't know, Blue Knuckles is Knuckles but in Sonic's stages and Red Sonic is Sonic but in Knuckle's stages.

One day, in the ending, i figted with mecha sonic with debug mode activated. Then, i screwed up so much, Sonic was still there in the credits, and i got light blue Sonic. He was SO cool. I'd love to play as light blue sonic. I personally think it's a glitch because you're supposed to play that part as knuckles(two things: ithink you're supposed to play as knuckles, and two when knuckles transforms he doesn't change his color) and in the credits, i was still sonic so i could use debug mode and bizarrely broke a S monitor. I loved that palette so much *o*

nineko Exactly...sadly,I can't download the rom that Stealth made of Sonic Genesis for GBA(still a better game than the original),since I don't have a computer,and my cellphone can only read zip archives...:(
What saddens me is that I probably won't be able to play Sonic Mania itself because Sega isn't going for a physical release, and I refuse to install that Steam cancer on my computer(s). I can't understand the logic of such a marketing decision, which I find, for the lack of a better word, retarded.

If you play as Sonic and Tails in Knuckles' Sky Sanctuary with only one controller, Tails will go to the end of the left screen and do something random, like duck.
i went to the final boss and defeated it without the emeralds with Sonic. then i placed numerous "S" monitors. i saw some water in the space. then i started to put more "S" monitors and then the weirdest part happened: when Sonic and Tails passed trough Angel Island it started to float along with a part of the ocean and the game returned to the SEGA screen. i swear i didn't have any Chaos or Super emeralds
Be Careful. If Sonic Transforms Too Many Times, Like When He Collects Too Many S Monitors, The Game Throws An Error, And Since The Error Code For Sonic 3 And S&K Says To Go Back To The Title Screen, The Game Just Resets.

Oh, I See. Since You probably Placed Too Many Sprites, You Probably Overloaded Some Sprite Buffer, Causing The Game To Crash.

Tails' tails are part of his sprite in some animations, but are a separate object in some other animations. When they're part of the main sprite they're always displayed, but the separate object isn't loaded when Tails is a "fake" Tails.
It's not metal sonic, it's Mecha sonic.

There's a hack called Knuckles 3 & Knuckles (or something similar), where the sprites of Sonic and Tails are merely switched with Knuckles's sprites. The hacker overlooked the multiplayer sprites, where if you play as Sonic you'll play with your own OC Red Sonic.

If anyone wants to know why you can't give Tails' palette to Sonic or Knuckles and make them orange, it's because Sonic and Tails share the same palette. Sonic would end up looking blue, as usual, and Knuckles would also become blue. Also, Tails doesn't change if he has Knuckles' palette, the only color differences between Sonic's palette and Knuckles' palette is that blue changes to red. Tails' colors are actually still inside Knuckles' palette.

Yup. Basically I am still using character 00 (Sonic + Tails, which also explains the life icon), but I "told" the game to access different data. Somewhere in these 573 comments there are some better explanations, but this is the short version :)

You can do this with RAM cheats, too. There's basically two addresses for team.
FFFF0B is the team address (same as level select). This determines the primary palette. If this is 03, it loads Knuckles' palette.
FFFF09 works similar, but if the two values conflict, this one will choose what character(s) is loaded.
There's also a couple of double ranges which determine the sprite and allows you to force Tails with Knuckles and have Red Hyper Sonic, but I'm too lazy to find the P1 version.

I did, but the art for them shares the same location in VRAM so it kept on being overwritten by eachother. Allowing for Sonic and Knuckles together would require a more complex hack, which can hardly be performed via simple GG/PAR codes, as is the case with this video. Also, having blue Sonic and red Knuckles at the same time would require palette tweaking as well.

It looks like, but no, it's not a sprite hack. I altered some pointers in the code, so the game engine is processing wrong character data.

Are you talking about co-op in Sonic 3 and Knuckles? It is possible to do co-op, if a second player picks up another controller. They can control tails...
yes, but an ACTUAL co-op which does not make you fly back in when you go off-screen.
Tails has a neutral palette. He's orange no matter what. Knuckles and Sonic cause the palettes to alternate, red for Knuckles, blue for Sonic. You can hack the game to use the incorrect palette.

Here is another one. You need: game genie, debug, and super/hyper sonic. First get "1 ring needed to turn super sonic" GG code and any sonic color code. Then go to AIZ (Angel Island act 1) and get any ring and turn super / hyper. With the color code enabled. The color get randomized and sonic can be any color. I played as yellow sonic (Ray's color).
I'm with you kids. I think Blue Knuckles is the code for Blue Knux.
