Вставка
- Опубліковано 3 лют 2025
- This is my initial reaction to Episode 6 of the One Piece live action series on Netflix. I have never read the manga or watched the anime, so the live action series is my first foray into the One Piece universe. I LOVE THIS SERIES! What in the heck did I just watch? Only two episodes left!

The anime and the manga are actually even more emotional. Oda really knows how to pull at peoples heartstrings. There are so many scenes in One Piece that are either unbelievably moving, unbelievably painful, or both.
Also you go from tears to lol with the turn of a page S2. Gotta respect Oda
Manga is less emotional, there is no music and voice acting, anime is the best in terms of emotions
You guessed that he ate his own leg earlier than anybody else I've seen react to this episode. Great job again
this is the only show/anime/manga that has me crying and laughing almost every episode/chapter
11:20 - Just friendship. It’s a hard Oda rule. No romance among the members of the crew.
Love your reactions.. keep them comming ! emotional and attentive .. best people to watch with
Beth it's so true, Mihak is terrified and attractive, I can't say why, LOL, his eyes are creepy and snake charming at the same time...what's happening to me...(Totally agree with the noble, french, musketer, swordsman) This character really do something to me that I can not explain. I need season 2 so bad.
😍😍
5:34 If you take a closer look, you'll notice 2 hooks on his back which are used to hold the sword
Oh ty for pointing that out!
One Piece is a very emotional story. Its at heart a comedy, however the storytelling is extremely real and based in reality. Very real situations and very real themes that can sometimes be very dark. However, its also a story about hope and dreams and willpower and confidence and will always return to being a comedy even in the darkest of moments.
love your reaction and excitement !! i need eps 7 & 8 nowwww.......!
I’ll get them up this week :)
oh yess cant wait :)@@BethDomon
Yep the made me cry multiple times 😂
the story telling and the storyline of each character is on another level doesn't it ? Even that it Manga adaptation, this is one of the few show that doesn't fail, I give the credit to maintain the One Piece universe theme to the whole thing is due to the creator Oda.
If you fancy a Netflix anime that is an absolutely brilliant adaption of a classic, there is a newly released one called 'Pluto'.
The episodes are a bit long but it is a fantastic story!
It's a futuristic murder mystery with both humans and androids getting killed by a mystery assailant. And one of the most advanced androids in the world is a detective looking into the murders.
Hey that sounds super interesting! Adding it to my list :). Thanks!
21:27 " we cries over the Boat " that's it. I said it. 😂😅
The anime and manga can make you cry over inanimate objects.
Some fantasy anime you might like: attack on titan (weird but great), Star Blazers 2199 (space, a classic), Grancrest Senki (does have some romance), shield hero (isekai genre),
I would say the manga/anime is this emotional, more even, especially when its hitting, but it's worth considering that since netflix is condensing things, there tends to be less of a breathing room before bigger moments. You're feeling things more frequently, but arguably at a lesser effect with less of the build up. As much as netflix stayed true to One Piece's goofy side, the source is definitely heavier on the comedy, but that juxtaposition helps sell the emotional beats harder. You yo-yo between emotions quite frequently, but not in any cheap MCU-styled way. They aren't undercutting each other, they're working in tandem, and there are often moments where you think something is silly until you get pertinent information and suddenly something you thought was just a silly gag or design had meaning.
Oda the original author has always said there’s no romance amongst the main crew and apparently he had to put his foot down about that for the live action. That’s my guess why Zoro/Nami’s relationship is nebulous, probably a left over from older scripts.
He didn't say that reread the article, that was one of the original things that was part of the conditions before he let anybody adapt it. He would accept changes that went thru him but that was a no-go before he even let anyone touch it
Sci-fi/Fantasy. May I recommend "Firefly" (14 episodes + 1 movie) and "Lucifer" both are excellent.
Firefly is one of my favorite shows ever and Tom Ellis (Lucifer) is absolutely dreamy :)
@@BethDomon so you've seen both. Nice to meet another Browncoat. Also, I think Lucifer might be who you were thinking of when you said Mihawk reminds you of someone 😊😂
Both the anime and the manga are great! You can't go wrong with either, but you might get through the manga quicker than the anime.
Emotional??? I just say that every anime or manga One Piece fan has cried (and cried a lot) for a literal piece of wood... and no fan in the commentaries can refute that...
It not just wood!
A lot of reactors ask about zoro and nami and if there's romance there and (maybe because I've read the manga or maybe because I'm queer or maybe because i headcanon zoro as gay, but) i find that super funny because i don't get that vibe from them AT ALL lol.
Since you asked for suggestions, I'm going to suggest an older anime that seems to have flown mostly under the modern radar (which isn't helped by its production of it ceasing before the intended point leading to one arc only being partly adapted_... which is The Twelve Kingdoms (Juuni Kokuki) released back in 2002. It is the king of the isekai genre and predates the modern anime tropes that (IMHO) ruined the genre as a whole. Think of an Eastern 'Lord of the Ring' meets 'Wheel of Time' meets 'Game of Thrones' type show with a down-to-earth/gritty art style, and it manages to be some lovely fantasy escapism that goes unexpectedly deep into topics you wouldn't expect it to delve into.
a show you might be interested im hm? ..... Faraway Paladin, Slayers: First, Next and Try, Grimgar, those are a few good ones.
Manga/anime are even better, although like the live-action, their productions are hampered by their own unique challenges.
The anime has gone on for so long, and for most of that run has been basically getting into the manga's personal space to the point where they literally need to stretch things out in an episode. One chapter of manga cannot carry one episode of anime, unfortunately. It's also been treated as a cash cow that would get viewers regardless of the effort they'd put in for a considerable period of its run, so there are times when the animation leaves to be desired. However, the Japanese voice actors and soundtracks are amazing and managed to perfectly find that One Piece feel for the anime medium.
The manga is amazing. Of course, it does show some of the hallmarks of it being a lifes work, and you can see in the art that the author grows over time. It is basically doing a weekly release schedule of 20 pages of content, and while Oda is an absolute monster of a workaholic, there are some periods where you can barely tell other commitments encroached on his time and led to (for Oda) subpar paneling or even storytelling. I'm not complaining, though. The worst is the fact that the cast of One Piece has gotten so incredibly huge and the plots so intricate that you can tell the author is torn between the need to entertain weekly readers as much as he is trying to write the story, and in recent years, it has led to him rushing things that probably shouldn't have been rushed. (And yet that arc had been going for years... go figure!) Of course, if you can binge like a lunatic, most of the drawbacks of the manga disappear near instantly.
I loved this episode I think the live action. Did Olive sanji's back story way better than the animated? Changed it from the Manga. But yes, the anime among the are this emotional. Sometimes even more so. But so far, I think the live action has been doing it extremely well. I can't wait for later season.❤
Alice in borderlands is amazing. I think you’ll like it
If you think this is good (and it is) you should try the manga or anime. There is a lot missing. Also If you are looking ´for something good, might I suggest Violet Evergarden. I'm 56, ex military and no media ever made me cry until Violet Evergarden. It's both visually and emotionally beautiful.
Is the manga this emotional? What you've seen/are going to see in this live action is a 9/10 on the emotional scale of becoming a blubbering mess. The manga goes to a 12/10 in later arcs.
Yes, the manga is emotional and fun, but I stopped after 650 chapters because I got tired. I prefer the live-action adaptation because I find there is too much fighting in the manga that I never really cared about
Oh man this episode was so damn good. It really is a rollercoaster of emotions. Strap-in for what's to come tho....👀
And yes, the manga/anime is VERY emotional. And funny and brutal and heartwarming. OP as a story knows when to tug at your heartstrings and break your heart lol I fully recommend watching the anime if you want. It's so much fun too! And it would super cool to hear your thoughts and feelings on the different arcs!
If you haven't watched the TV show 'Lost' yet, that would be a super fun one to react to. It's a character driven mystery show with some sci-fi/fantastical elements, and the characters in the big ensemble cast all get amazing moments to shine. I think it's one of the shows that revolutionized TV for the modern era. Some of my favorite memories were watching that week to week in college with friends, debating about the mysteries and theorizing what a small clue means and what could be coming next.
I watched it when it was on TV. It is a great show
Hey being vegan is ok its a personal preference...your rught and we respect that
Hi Beth! Love your reactions! And if you choose to watch anime someday don't take shortcuts... Watch entirely! A lot of manga lovers are recommend a cut version of One Piece created by a dumb fan, wich took out several funny passages through this work. And I tell you this: Oda creation is 8/10, and Toei creation complete to achieve 10/10.
21:24 You think this is emotional? Wait until you get to the Marineford arc.
Have you seen Lucifer? I think you'd like it if you havnt, and Lucifer is who Mihawk reminds me of.
Oooh Tom Ellis vibes. I can see it :)
The best is yet to come. Almost did a minor spoilet but didn't😊
The anime honestly has MASSIVE pacing issues, especially once you get further in: to avoid overtaking the manga they started adapting 1 chapter per episode, which requires them to reeeeeally pad out the runtime.
One Pace is an ongoing project to shorten the anime down and get rid of some of those problems (primarily shortening the overly-extended dramatic pauses, recaps, flashbacks, etc.). Only problem is it's... it's not perfect.
The people who make One Pace have actually been doing it since they were teenagers, so the editing in the early parts of it is pretty terrible. To my knowledge they're going back and cleaning up those earlier episodes when they have time. It's kinda hard to recommend One Pace right now, but it is an ongoing thing to make a cleaned-up version that's more appropriately paced.
That said, the manga is really the best way to experience this story. It's gorgeous, keeps up a solid pace, and includes all the great little worldbuilding details they didn't have time for in the live-action.
If you want to watch the anime, watch one pace. It gets rid of the filter as well as editing out bad pacing issues the anime is known for
And loose stuffs like Condoriano? Are you mental? About 30% of anime humour creation are filler! Zoro breaking Tashigi glass, Usopp running from fishmen until got caught....
@@euclides9156more for the stuff like in dressrosa where it's 10 seconds of just one frame
I love Condoriano
Condoriano was too OP. He would have wrecked the entire series had Oda added more airtime for him.
is the anime or the manga this emotional????? watch or read to find out. you're at the tip of the iceberg.
0:54 you are
Please don't do Onepiece anime or mangga. I want to watch your blind reactions for future OP Live Action too.
One Piece is the Lord of the rings of our generation, and yes, the manga is 100x better than this show
