Part of the problem is the position of the camera. It is often too high, showing more of the truck interior than the views through the windows. Don't discount the interior, they are nice to have, as well. Perhaps check @FSCTrucking for ideas on where to possibly put additional cameras on the outside of the trucks. Several times, while approaching the scenes he will point out things that are not as clear through the camera. Some videos could benefit from having bookmarks.
@@tedfisk1211 Disclaimer - I've never complained about it. The turning of the head and stuff on a POV type camera while driving can make me motion sick, where like a static dash camera doesn't. I'm a simple man. I see a Ron Pratt video, I hit the like button. Buuuut, when I see a Ron Pratt video featuring a cat, I absolutely DESTROY THAT LIKE BUTTON!
Smoky took that ride like a champ! When taking my cats to the vet, I'm always worried LEO will pull up next to me and think somebody's getting murdered in the back seat. Smoky looks a lot like an old semi-feral cat who's decided our front porch is a safe place. Canned food and a new heated cat house helped him decide. They say cats choose their human - Smoky's smart AND has good taste!
Ron your a sweethearted ❤ guy!. I would be a little worried if Smokey got out again too. Great job with the fire truck. Bless you and your whole crew. 😊
It reminded me of the accident where the driver was injured and nobody knew that he had a cat on board until a few days had passed. The family called your shop and you found his cat in the cab. Your kindness to that family was beautiful and the driver retired his kitty to stay at home after that scare.
Love the fact that you took the time out of your busy schedule Ron to bring Smokey along with you. And what else was amazing is while he was riding in the truck with you, he answered you while you were talking to him... Your love & care for him speaks volumes...! It's nice to see you have a buddy to ride with you and many of us would like to see him along with you when the safe circumstance's allows... Love your new addition ride along buddy...!🐈⬛👨🏻
Ron, everything I've ever said about your caring, respectful and insightful nature in how you treat your customers shows here even still, with your concern for kitty, and even your happy willingness to return back to the shop if he'd shown discomfort. Friendly greetings from the UK to you and all the team - and more Smokey videos in future please!!
Child safety locks for the windows plus a harness with leash. That will keep him from jumping out, even if he gets the window down, LOL!! Glad someone was there to grab him. So very nice to see people really care about their fur baby the way you did. THANKS for caring for him. God bless and protect.
Glad he is a people kitty and went right to them, mine would have likely ran, he is NOT a ride kitty as he just thinks vet. Seems Smoky is chatty, mine is but I think it all boils down to "GET ME TREATS" 🤣Safety and Blessing Midwest Family
I love that he adopted you instead of you adopting him. Same thing happened at the fire station last year. Our little friend Tilly (play on Tiller because that's where it's stationed) showed up and she just lives there now. Has a collar, got her microchipped and vaccinated. Now she just hangs out.
That was pretty humorous. A cat rolling down a window to escape. He was looking for some one to pet him, Dad's too busy, must be somebody around here that has time to pet a cat!! I would have loved to see the part where he rolled down the window and discovered his escape route!!
I actually recently came across a video somewhere, FaceBook, I think, that showed exactly that. A bunch of construction workers adopted a semi-feral black tomcat that always hung around the site. They actually got him to wear a tiny green hi-viz vest for safety. He was kinda hard to spot from more than a few feet away without it. Cutest thing you ever did see. Super adorable.
"Stray" cats and dogs have a great way of finding humans who will look after them well. Looks as if Smoky will be a team players once he gets to know you all properly 🙂
A different series I watch. the truck tractor driver has dogs and the dogs lock the doors and roll down the windows! Even after the person put a cover over the buttons, the dog still flips the cover and gets to the buttons!
I hope you do leave the camera on more often for the driving trips. If people don't like it, they can always fast forward the videos. I love soothing rides. :)
Smoky reminds me of my cat Whiskers , from when I was a child. Whiskers slept on my bed , ate when I ate, and would not let anyone pet him unless I was there. Any time we had to take him to the vet, I had to be present during the exam (otherwise he was not having it). Another great video Ron. And as always stay safe, stay healthy, and god bless.✌️🙏👍
Ron, you'll have to wire in a hidden master switch to disable those power windows. Smoky is one smart cat. Its been my observation over many years, that gray cats are especially intelligent. I had a gray shop cat at my service station, long ago. Smartest cat I ever had. Not a mouse left in the building, either. He dispatched generations of them. When I lived out west, I was adopted by a gray cat which routinely killed and ate scorpions, without getting stung. She was independent, loyal, fearless, and smart. Smoky is a keeper, Ron. You've got a great companion.
Thank you for starting my day with a smile and bringing back some wonderful memories. When I was growing up, we had a fire station cat named Smoky. He was a brown tabby with a very crooked tail. He would come and go as he pleased through a window that was always left open. One day there was a call and the guys in the tanker saw him poking his head out from under the tarp of the hose bed of the truck in front of them. He had been sleeping and didn't get out in time. It was fun to hear that communication on the radio! No one knew where he came from, but even the cat haters enjoyed him. Please stay safe and warm. God bless.
I've had cats that loved riding and more that wanted nothing to do with it. I have some now that love to play in the car, just as long as it's not running. I even had one that liked to drive. He wasn't a bad driver except when he would get distracted, then he would lean on the wheel the direction he was looking. I hope Smokey has a long life with you and the crew.
Good Morning Ron hoping everyone is warm and stay in if need not be on the roads , have a safe day not over do yourself out in this weather , you're friend over in. Russellville, Kentucky ❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊
My dog is almost always with me. It's weird when he isn't. Over the years, I've come to firmly believe that if a person doesn't like animals, I don't want to do business with them. Speaking of business, it's great to hear that your business is thriving, even though that generally means something is broken. At least trucks are still serviceable.
That is so awesome Ron. He seems like he is just one of the guys there, riding along to help lol. Just have love Our Father's creatures. I know I love mine here. God Bless You Guys and this video.
I think Smokey did pretty good. Get him a harness and a pet seat that attaches to the passenger side. This way you cann clip him into the seat safely. So cute.❤
Smoky did really well, whenever we had to move out kitty yelled all the way, last trip was ILL to AZ and rode on the back of Dad's chair. Good show tks
When I was a kid back in the 70's my dad bought home a kitten from where he worked. The mother cat got ran over with a forklift. The kittens eyes weren't open yet. My mom fed the kitten with an eyedropper . She loved to go for a ride. Now I'm going to watch your video and find out if Smoky does.
Always nice to have a mascot! Smokey seems to be a friendly cat used to be around with humans watching the woman at the fire station being able to pick her up.
Well, that wasn't too cat-astrophic, Ron. Smoky was probably feline better once back at the workshop!!! Looks like he enjoyed the ride though. Purr-fect!!! A slightly different job, this one. I don't mind the camera on your head while you are driving. It give the perspective of the driver which I think is great! Smoky is a very handsome, smart cat!
Our cat liked the idea of being in a car until it started moving, then went nuts we would put her in a large square bag to take to the vets. Our neighbours cat loved travelling and would lie on the rear window shelf, she would go on holiday with them.
Could be last time Smokey road in a vehicle was when he was dumped somewhere around your shop. People dump cats around my house in the country all the time.
Smoky probably saw the ladies through the window and wanted to be friends with them. Cats will figure out what they gotta figure out when they want to know a new human scent! Cats don't worry about having one owner, they like to hang out with your friends too! It's like an instinctive behavior that they have! 😃🐈⬛👍👍
I have a dog that was on the road with me for years. He would lower the windows…and hit the door locks too, but never at the same time! Learned to carry a spare key double quick!
Now I know why you are such a great man Ron. You are a kitty lover too. I have Radar a black beauty that adopted me from the local shelter where he had been overlooked for almost 7 month's. Best thing that happened to me for sure 🙂
Reminds me of the time in 1974 when I drove to Italy from Germany to see my friends and pick up my cat. On my way back he would hide under the seat at each border crossing and come out when I started moving again .
Kitty rescue lol gotta love the ingenuity of the feline to get into, or out of, weird places! Mr Ron, I know that editing is a bit of a pain in the back side, but I, and I'm sure there are many more people, that enjoy the view of the road going to a "call", and would like to see the scenery as you're driving, if at all possible, could you please edit in the driving section like you used to have on some of your old videos please and thank you
Hi Ron. Loved the video and your interaction with Smokie. Maybe get him a harness and a seat belt attachment if you want to take him with you occasionally. Saves the worry of him escaping again. I have 2 cats that have travelled all around Australia with me. They have both wound down the windows in the car a couple of times.
Extremely enjoyable! I get to watch my favorite UA-camr in action, and get a glimpse into his personal life! Another great video, Ron. The last time I saw that semi in action, I am pretty sure it was David operating it. Some personnel changes since then, but good to see it in action again. I don't know about these other "first" viewers, but I get some satisfaction when I am able to grab your videos with zero views. Not very often, but I get that sometimes. Today, it even showed zero likes, and just seconds after it posted. And by the time I finished composing this comment -- I always wait till the video is through -- it had 2000+ views and 400+ likes. That tells me that your videos start many viewers' Friday mornings. Thanks again for another great video! To you, your family, your crew, and your extended UA-cam family, stay safe and healthy.
Hey Ron, Smoky was listening to you when you said, "I hope he doesn't step on the button and lock me out." He is a very smart cat and just wanted to make sure that you were following all the safety protocols.
Most cats don't like sitting in moving vehicles because they get the movement confused with their sitting still. I've taken cats to the vet and they stand on the seat with their paws on the window edge and just howl. Smoky probably climbed up to look out the window and placed his paw on the window button.
Some people worry about the Singularity. That's still merely a proposition. Cats! Cats that can operate gadgets are the real concern, and are a documented fact. They could in fact be our saviours when the time comes. Bless you Smokey @
Smokie chose the right place to escape - the fire station! I have a couple of 'guest' cats that come for a warm and a feed! My resident one passed away a couple of months ago, aged 14.
As the proud dad of several cats, including one name smoke, I just want to say you really brought a smile to my face. Thank you for sharing the great ride and showing the greatest escape smokey looks like a cool cat. I hope he can make further endeavors with you I really enjoy seeing him, thank you for making my day extra special. God bless you, sir, Roger Fox from far southwest Missouri.
I once (1968) had a cat that was so comfortable in my Travelall, he decided the best place to be was on the floor under my brake and clutch pedals! Needless to say, that behavior was discouraged. I've also seen truckers with cats that loved to relax on the dashboard while going down the road. In 1990 we moved from SoCal to Anchorage, Alaska. Our three cats exhibited a complete 180 degree reversal of character. The dominant lady lost it completely. The middle one remained as he was. Our youngest boy, crazy, was convinced he was a dog, on the road trip was calm, cool, and collected. There's just no telling how they're going to be until you try it!
Well, if he can open the power windows, he can hit the power door lock button as well. So I'd probably carry a spare door key in your pocket if you take him again. Also, both my cats begin howling loudly the second I put them in a car. So if he was just calmly laying in the bunk while you drove, you're probably good. Typical cat-- likes the elevated perch. 😊
Cleared an accident where the driver didn't make it. There was a cat in the truck and no body wanted to claim him. They where going to send him to a shelter. While looking for a new home we brought him inside of the offices and the office folks decided that we now have a cat. He'll sit and look out the door, but he wont leave. He'll wander out into the shop and watch the guys work but he wont go out the big doors. Always amuses me who he'll allow to pet him and sit with, always has to say hi to me. Getting him into a vehicle takes a brave soul. He does not like getting into vehicles at all, which I can't blame him. The truck he was found in was barely recognizable. Cab came off the frame in a roll over. No idea how the cat survived in the first place. Must of had one hell of a grip on something.
Ron you could get a carrier and let smoky ride in it with it open and only close him up in it while you are out of the cab so he can't escape again and open it back up when you get back in the cab for the ride back to the shop he will get used to that routine and will want to ride along more often then. Just an idea of how you can incorporate Smoky with the call's
I like to seeing the POV while you’re driving. I get to see roads/scenery that I may never get chance to see.
I agree. Seeing the scenery going by is enjoyable. I don't understand why people don't want to see it. It is not hampering Ron's driving in any way.

Our youngest boy, crazy, was convinced he was a dog, on the road trip was calm, cool, and collected. There's just no telling how they're going to be until you try it!
That was fun like.smokey😊 thanks 👍👍👍😊
Ron, you did puurrrfect on that last job!
Dogs have masters... cats have staff. Smokey inherited a towing & service company!
I kept remembering The Great Escape with Steve McQueen. I could just see Smokey riding around on a motorcycle through the barb wire fence lol.
More of the beautiful little rascal LORD SMOKY PLEASE!!!
Smoky is the cutest 🐈 ever❤
I like it when you leave the camera on so I can have a tour of the area and see the scenery
I love the driving portions. I wish there was more. The people that don't like it can always fast forward the video. lol
