Whalen and aftermarket assassins offers a tune that won’t require an intercooler or pump and will get you to 160-165hp. On John whalens UA-cam video on the 2022 120hp tuned to 160 wheel horsepower he found that stock clutching configuration was just as good as aftermarket up until 170wheel hp. I think it’s $600 for the tune and the rr makes 170whp so very little difference without having to spend the money to get the Rr. My x3 has 5500 miles on it and that was just on short course tracks and going fast on dirt roads and I’ve never had any issues with the machine whatsoever. Definitely get a gboost worlds best belt and upgrade your secondary clutch rollers
The p drive is better in noise level but it’s way overrated tho. I would save money and just buy a decent clutch kit from gboost if you find stock clutching not fitting your driving style
Fantastic! Awesome info man , thanks . I had seen some Whalen stuff and that 160-165hp tune with no parts interchange would be right up my alley right now . I’m already super impressed with how hard it jams stock lol. 600$ for 40-45hp??? Sign me up any day of the week for that .
I personally like put about 2000miles on the aftermarket assassins 165 tune and it felt way more than a 45hp gain. The Whalen speed tune is just as reliable and powerful but from a different company. Either one will make you smile very big.
We rented one of these 22’s in Arizona this year and after that cvt warmed up that belt was screaming like you’re saying. That was my major complaint too
It’s the primary clutch . The RRs got the PDrive Primary for 2022 which is far better and much much quieter. It’s a direct bolt up so we plan on getting one at some point for my base 120. The 2023 base 135hp models now get the PDrive Primary standard . It’s a blast of a machine , but if your sans PDrive or a KWI, or TAPP it’s going to be loud for sure .
Awesome ! I also had a 2020 Maverick Trail 1000R lol! Solid well built machines . It’s a MAJOR difference. The simple ability to gobble up difficult terrain improves drastically. You will love it .
