Ye! Communism lol
Man spiser sku ikk remoulade uden andet end bare rugbrød?
Ja
Youre supposed to put the Pålægschokolade on top of bread!
"Remoulade" is not meant to be on "rugbrød" alone maybe with the "torskerovn"... It's mostly used for hotdogs and french fries...
And the pålægschokolade are meant to be on bread... Not just eating it alone. And with a little bit of butter under, mmm I like that
Lol what are you talking about. Just eat the entire thing out of the package.
I am pretty sure he was comparing it to other kinds of sandwich spread. Considering they already tasted smørbrød in Copenhagen, then i believe they know it is not normally used as a lone ingredient. They probably just wanted to taste the remoulade alone without any kind of filling.
lol these guys in the vidoe is stupid PS er du dansker?
Torskerogn fried and remoulade on top on rugbrød.
Remoulade tastes great with Roasbeef on rugbrød as Well 😍
Every time you Said something in Danish(or tried to) it sounded like swedish
For me, who is a native speaker of Swedish, it sounded more like Norwegian, lol.
But hey, I'd have no problems understanding them if they spoke Swedish with that accent.
As a South African let me explain, we speak a bunch of languages but mostly Afrikaans, basically imagine If the Dutch language got adapted by slaves, but our language isnt that simple since we have 11 languages and all of them sound different depending on where you are, it's really strange, but it's funny
@@morganelliston As for me, I was fully aware of this already. :)
But since I do have Swedish as my first language and having studied German for a few years, I can somewhat understand some Afrikaans as well. Written Afrikaans is easier for me to understand than spoken, though. However, if the person speaks slowly and clearly, I may understand enough to at least get around.
But yeah, a nation of 11 official languages, that sure is something unique.
@@mikaelwojciechowski7281 funny thing is even I find it easier to read, depending on where you are really changes how its spoken, where it's just so confusing, especially if their drunk, Afrikaans already sounds drunk so its basically double drunk 😂
No cause i am danish 😂
I dip my French fries in "remoulade."

Hmm.. I realize I'm late to the party ;) But as a Dane (with apparently the manners to write in English), I figured I would give a bit of a service announcement about some of the foods.
1. Flæskesvær: Yes. These are indeed just pork rinds. What I don't know is, whether we make them differently or not - but based on the reaction, probably not.
2. Rugbrød: We have loads of different kinds. The one in the video is with sunflower seeds, which is in the milder range where seeds and grains are concerned.
3. Remoulade: ("Økologisk" = organic). It's mayonnaise with some different pickles and curry powder in it. It's not really eaten on its own as in the video, but instead put on top of a variety of meats and fish.
4. Torskerogn: ("Bæredygtigt fiskeri" = sustainable fishing). This is the roe of the cod fish. It's really popular here. The ones in cans (like in the video) have been mixed with a couple of other ingredients. The fresh ones are quite different in taste (think canned tuna vs fresh). The two most popular ways to eat it is either out of the can, on top of rye bread, with remoulade or mayonnaise on top... OR, you can cut it into slices and fry it up on the pan and serve as a dinner meal (usually with lemon on, and... remoulade ;) )
5. Marinerede sild: So basically pickled herring. We have a variety of different kinds - With or without spices, curried herring, with or without onions and pepper, and a bunch of different christmas varieties. Rye bread, butter, picked herring. Yum =) Some eat it only for holidays (and it *is* at all the holidays), but most eat it on regular weekdays as well.
6. Salte fisk: Yes. Salted licorice. This goes for all candy bags here: If you take a hold of the top of the bag with both hands, and tear down, instead of trying to pull apart, you have a lot less trouble. Danes are absolutely crazy about salted licorice. And salted licorice "bolcher", and salted licorice flavoured gummies, and... you get the picture. Salte fisk is hmm.. Sort of medium on the salty scale. Most of the stronger salty licorices contain "salmiak"(which I *think* is a type of ammonia). We've gotten some kind of special dispensation from the European Union to use the amounts we do, for the licorice (yes, we're insane). Most Danes find sweet licorice kind of boring
Spunk: Comes in two varieties. The one in the video is salty licorice (no surprise there). The other kind is a sort of sweeter fruit type, which is softer and has bright colours.
8. Frøer: (danish word for "frogs"). The original is with caramel-sauce inside and is the more popular one (by far my favourite). They're dark chocolate, not milk-chocolate.
9. Snøfler: Oh... yea. These... First off: made-up word. They're a sort-of knock-off of "Rum balls", and are mostly made of cake scraps(from fruit cakes) and fruit marmalade. They don't got baked, you just refrigerate them. They're then covered with milk-chocolate and white chocolate. If you want the "real" stuff, go to a baker and buy Rum balls(cake scraps and "Danishes", cocoa powder, rum or rum essence. Baked and rolled in sprinkles). They are much, MUCH better than snøfler.
10. Pålægschokolade: Yet another thing to put on top of bread, mostly for breakfast. Either rye or white, and most put butter under them. They're not meant to be eaten as a snack on their own, which is why they're so thin. And they're mostly made with the not-so-good chocolate, to keep price down.
11. Cocio: Not much to say. We LOVE it here. It's far, far better cold, and don't forget to shake the bottle to get the sediment chocolate mixed in. I don't think I've ever seen anyone drinking it out of glasses before *lol* Most just kind of inhale the whole bottle in one go
Sorry for the wall of text
Thank you so much for taking the time to write out all that information even though you were "late to the party". I really appreciate it! :)
@@sliceofmatt You're ever so welcome =) I don't know how much use it will be, but there you have it
The only think you forgot is that cocio goes with hotdog 😉
@@ronnibuster9508 Hmm. Yes. I should have maybe mentioned that, but I honestly didn't think of it. I never liked the combination myself. But yes. many, many Danes love to order a Cocio along with their hotdogs (which, btw, we make differently here too)
the original "frøer" (frogs) is not with caramel, it's with peppermint sauce. The chocolate with caramelsauce you remember is skilpadder (turtles)
You guys need to put Remoulade on top of the torskerogn and rugbrød

Salty liquorice is THE BEST 😍😍 It's hilarious how literally everyone outside Scandinavia/northern Europe hates it 😂 must be the viking genes..
I agree, the salted fish liquorice is the absolute best!!
Maybe that's the viking secret! That's why everyone in Scandinavia is fit, tanned and tall 🤔I will get back to you with my experimental results!
Haha yes that must be it 😂
Fun fact from wikipedia:
Liquorice has several varied uses in herbal medicine, such as acting as a mild laxative by increasing prostaglandins.
Comparative studies of pregnant women suggest that excessive amounts of liquorice (100 g a week) may adversely affect both IQ and behaviour traits of offspring.
I still love it though ^^

Pernille Siff Ravnholdt Hansen har ikke smagt snøfler
A little explanation from a Dane :)
No. 1 = Flæskesvær = crackling
No. 2 = Rugbrød = Rye bread, can be found in more than 100 different versions, some only with ground grains, others with different sizes for other whole grains.
No. 3 = Økologisk Remulade = Organic, chopped pickled vegetables in mayonnaise with mustard. It is used very often on some open sandwiches, hotdogs, and breaded fried fish fillets. ( it have to be in the refrigerator, as mayonnaise)
No 4. = Torskerogn = The eggs from a cod. It taste better when a slice is fried on a pan, with remoulade and a few drops of lemon juice. And yes, it is like caviar. :) Very healthy :)
No. 5 = Marineret sild = pickled herring. We often drink snaps (aquavit) and bear with it (on rye bread) It taste good, with raw onion rings on the top and maybe curry salad.
No.6 = Salte fisk = soft salty fish. It's a popular Danish licorice.
No. 7 = Spunk = the same as no. 6. But these are hard.
No 8. = Skipper piper = Captains pipe. = normal soft and sweet licorice.
No. 9 = Mini Frøer = small size frogs. It's dark chocolate, the big ones have a sweet filling.
No 10. = Snøfler = can't be translated. It's small cakes. (I don't like them too.,,,,, hehe )
No. 11 = Pålægs chokolade = Thin slice of chocolate, to put on rye or wheat bread with butter. Milk and dark chocolate.
No. 12 = Cocio = chocolate milk. :)
Snøfler is similar to another danish cake called "romkugle" which often is made with old bread crumps or cake and the you ad in rum liquor, but yeah in my opinion it taste like crap... :)
The real "romkugler" without rum, from a good Danish bakery taste a lot better....... i remember them from my school time back in the 70' hihi But they were called "studenter kugler"
It was the name of it in 1977...... i know that the name is a kind of funny today...... even today, there is different names for cakes, depending on where you live in Denmark. And words in Danish can be translated into some wired things in English. A few examples...... in Denmark we have a city called Middelfart, and a street sign with "Fart kontrol"....... the first word can be explained as middle speed....... and the second word is speed control ........ :)
lol...... I'm sure that many tourist would find it funny....... :D But there is a lot of answers for why the Scandinavian countries is placed in the top of been happy. I can easily come up with some..... we have a high welfare, social security, free education, low corruption, low crime, a decent salary, and our economy do not have a high inflation. But in the recent years, there have been more and more conflicts because of the big immigration from the middle east, and that has effect our security. We have always had immigration, but not in such a big scale as we see it today. We are a little country area wise, and we are rich in money and have a big heart with a high helpfulness. But we can't handle that massive immigration in a short time. :)
I love fleascaspeae spelling idk but i Love them
Matt - if you ever try Danish food again then try the macro in tomato sauce (makrel i tomatsovs) A lot that visits Denmark takes some cans home. It must be on rye bread (rugbrød) and put a bit of salt and mayonnaise on the top.
That sounds really good!
Macro....? I Think its called salmon
Magnus Rasmussen i mean my english teacher lived in America 3 years and that what he says it called
And when you translate it, it’s called Salmon
mackerel in tomato smells terrible, but tastes good
You can't buy salmon in tomato sauce - but mackerel and tuna are possible. I prefer tuna in tomato sauce - but if there is only mackerel then I like to eat it.
The pålægschokolade, are ment to put on top af Breda With butter, thats why it is so thin. 😉😊
God engelsk 😂😂
Kommer du SMØR på dit brød under pålægschokolade??!!
My fav! First of many excellent Danish things
I am addicted to. But, I eat them with butter and then jam and banana on top. My Danish boyfriend is amused by my combinations! :)
You have to investigate Danish food more, to get the full benefits out of it ET
@@veratonnisen3639 I am working really hard on it! :) I also come from farming area so most of the food is very compatible with Hungarian.
Try to fry the Torskerogn (thin pieces) and eat it on Ryebrad! Put a bit of lemon on top together with remoulade. That’s good actually. That’s how we eat it
That sounds like a good treat! In South Africa we have fried Snoek roe (and I think I've had it in the UK as well) and I much prefer it fried so maybe I'll give that a try! Thanks :)
sliceofmatt that sounds delecious as well!
Thats the only way we eat it 😁😍🇩🇰
you can also eat it raw and cold, but must have been in the cooler.
Definitely this
If you put torskerogn on a pan for a few minutes. Its way better.. with remoulade on top.

VERY NICE
OMFG YESSSSS! you know the real deal, my man
(Btw, for those who don't know, 'torskerogn' is the eggs, or roe, from cod)
Martin Lindstrøm the only right way! 😊😋
im from denmark, its very cool seeing you guys trying it out =)
btw remoulade is supposed to go as an accessorie to food, it goes very well with "Torskerogn" and "rugbrød" aswell as Roastbeef and "rugbrød"
"marineret sild" is marinade herring, i think you should try it with fresh onions, i think you will LOVE it :D
also next trime try green package of SPUNKS they have different coloured whitch matches the taste of them :D
the "pålægschokolade" is supposed to be put on "rugbrød" OR "franskbrød" and i THINK you would call "franskbrød" for whitebread :D and the terms for the chocolate is that the "lys" is light chocolate and the "mørk" is dark chocolate :)
"Torskerogn" is pressed Cod eggs, a very clean product we fry or eat right from the can in slices. you generally put it on rye bread, with "Remoulade" on top, and maybe a slice of lemon :)
Yes... please fry it first, and top it remoulade and lemon :)

Schwarzwurst is just awesome, everyone should atleast try it.
Yes ... I like his way of tasting it like it should be! She was picky -.-
It's OK to be picky. One shouldn't be on "let's taste this" shows, though.
I think they found it funny, she would give strong negative reactions on things, and that gets viewers. But I hate it when people try to force picky eaters to taste things everyone knows they won't like.
I agree , the guy is respectful and try to enjoy the experience of new food ,unlike the woman who is only gagging in anticipation. Why do you agree on doing this if you are squeamish about it?

You picked the wrong Spunks - You should've picked the fruity ones. And the 'Torskerogn' is amazing fried on a pan. Slice it, fry it and put it on a piece of 'rugbrød' with "Remoulade' on top of it. Yum...

They're too sweet for me. A bit of a shame you didn't get some Gammel Dansk, 1 Enkelt, Små Sure or Snaps too. Maybe they're too strong to go through the airport...
To do it right, you need to make a slice of the Torskerogn, put it on rye bread with some remoulade and squeeze some lemon on it!
maybe fry it on a pan first - jeg elsker sådan en skive ristet, lun torskerogn, med citronsaft og remo!

"hmm casual snack" *flæskesvær is like our christmas meal lmao*
You forgot the best candy Denmark has! Kæmpe skildpadder! It's basically chocolate turtles with rum liquor filling
Pålægschokolade = danish, pälæggschoklad = swedish, påleggssjokolade = norwegian. The reason it dosn't say it in norwegian is because we understand both danish and swedish. And your're supposed to put them on bread :)
Pålægschokolade* :)
Thanks for the correction, fixed :)
yw :D
Most Danes under stand Swedish and Norwegian aswell, I think the Swedes are the only ones that are having a hard time with the other Scandinavian languages lol
To clarify æ and ø in Danish/Norwegian is the same as ä and ö in Swedish.
Seriously tho, that woman should learn some table manners
Yeah you right
So true
Omg She is so rude. She smells all food like a dog before them eat😡I am not fun of Danish food but that is bullshit Danish Rugbrød og Remoulade have not bad taste. And if you have prejudice for other cultures food why do you make this kind of video
You are absolutely right that she is also an unrespect person..
truuue
Torskerogn is caviar from the cod fish. Fresh caviar is transparent but torskerogn get boiled before packaging and that's why its colour is solid. The text "bæredygtigt fiskeri" on the package translates directly to "sustainably caught" :)
At some fish shops you can get fresh torskerogn and then boil it at home, it requires a bit of work because its skin (the egg sack) is wrinkled like a brain and has to be peeled off before eating.
That the remoulade reminded you of piccalilli is no wonder to me, in my family we refer to it as concentrated remoulade. To us piccalilli is quite strong tasting, but mixed with 1/3 mayonnaise we get a luxury remoulade ;)
Haha this is funny, You're supposed to eat the "Torskerogn" with the "Remoulade". Remoulade is made of different veggies (Pickles, Carrot and cucumber) mayo and curry and it is normally served on r"Rugbrød" with different kind of meat slices. The "Pålægschokolade" isn't a sweet but a piece of chocolate that you are supposed to eat on some bread for breakfest.
I ones ate liquorice so strong I shit my self and went into a coma. Best candy I've ever had.
If you eat a fair amount of any licorice, you'll get the same result. 😄
ASMR for the win and I'm Danish, so I liked this video 🙌😊
Fyn??
Trine Grønvig nej, ikke Fyn 😊
Er også dansk
Pernille Larsen 🇩🇰😁
Oliver Gellert Johansen 7A Strib Skole hehe, ja 😁
Torskerogn is really good, if you frie it on a pan and put remulade and lemon on top
I'm Danish - and laughing. :)
combine the toskerogn and remulade on rugbrød and you are in heaven hehe spoken by a danish guy
and confirmed by a danish girl :D
Thanks for trying our food lol. You should have asked for instructions though so you could taste everything like we would eat them in Denmark 😊
i understand " as a dane " that the " torskerogn " tastes bad , bur it id because " torskerogn " is supposed to be eaten with the " remulade "
Fun fact, Only two cauntries in the world eat strong and salty liqorice, Denmark and Finland 😁
Swedes too. What have you done too us 🤣🤣🤣🇸🇪💪😘
If you come back to Denmark or Sweden you should try the Swedish licorice candy "Djungelvrål" there is Ammonium Chloride on it and if you get too many for example a whole bag then your ass may start burning
YNDLINGS
Omg no are you kidding me - they would die within the few seconds it takes to melt away the salmiakcoating 😂😂 They are so sickly sweet after, but if they chicken out at Salte Sild then they are doomed 😂
Bo Damkjer Hansen (Dane here) EVERY TIME I THINK ABOUT THEM MY MOUTH STARTS WATERING SO MUCH IT LITERALLY HURTS!
Also, I’ve eaten A LOT but my ass has never burned ahah
Bo Damkjer Hansen yesss
You used the Swedish name for "smørrebrød" and angered every dane ever with this. Don't you know, Danes and Swedes are bound in an unbreakable bond of hatred to each other? Tsk tsk, Matt!
TSK TSK!
Richard well copenhagen is basically Sweden soo fuck it (I am danish, and i hate copenhagen)
That's true.... There's a reason it's called "reserve-Sverige."
They didn't even do that... they said smörgåsbord which is another thing entirely. I don't even think smörrebrö (I'm scanian, bite me) has a direct translation in Swedish anyway... think it's just taken straight from Danish but with Swedish pronunciation.
Also I thought bornholmers were mocked as reservesvenskar... then again who doesn't hate their counties capital
True. Though I don't only hate Copenhagen, I hate Sweden too...
King Cabbage I'm scanian... how do you think I feel about them?
Fun fact its actually impossible to eat 2 whole “rugbrød” without anything on top. Try it
She had her first experiance with "the Cocio effect"... Gone in one second :D also, pålægschocolade should be put on a loaf of bread!!
The only thing weird here is you two.
Lmao so true
LOL overbearing with the herring but the salmiaki always gets them XD
Remoulade is a topping that goes on top of the topping on Rye bread, like the codeggs(torskerogn) and prefferably panfry the codeggs first. Season with salt. And the Pålægs-chokolade is a bread topping as well, a little like Nutella, but in firm state 👍
Torskerogn are eggs from cod.
Remoulade is used as topping, like mayonnaise. Would actually be perfect on top of the torskerogn.😁
Very interesting video, guys!
I am from Romania and live in Denmark. I practically understand the reactions to everything you’ve tasted. I really don’t understand the pleasure of eating salted lakrids. The taste is at least weird for me. You should have tried the Toms Skildpadde chocolate. It is one of the best rum chocolate I have ever tasted! You also missed the bakery stuff, like the “birkes” and many more!
I would gladly watch a similar video with Romanian food! Nice job, you guys!👍
@@lucaslucas191202 salty liquorice is an acquired taste - like nobody likes the first cup of coffee, but after a while you begin to tolerate coffee and after a while longer you may even begin to like it - but initially it tastes vile if you drink it black
Should've bought "skildpadder" instead of "frøer", they're better 😂
god pointe!
👍👍
Frøer is the shit 😋😋💪🇩🇰
Iben Holmquist true, elsker Toms skildpadder
Skildpadder eller frøer så længe jeg får Toms chokolade
no no no...the pålægschokolade goes on bread (Lys and mørk which means light or dark chocolate)...😂😂😂😂
Theres a gummy version of spunk
Rugbrød + Torskerogn + Remoulade = delicious ✌️
And also, fry the Torskerogn :D
Det lyder ik helt mig men tører da i det mindste smage det i modsætning til hende ;)
you forgot Salte Fisk
Og så lige ristede løg på toppen ;)
DrunkyMazterFlex yep elsker det 💕
If you think our danish food is weird just think about our humor :D Zirkus Nemo. A danish backer called "Bager Jørgen" is actually dancing with cake
Og jeg skreg af grin!
Det gjorde jeg også. Så den spillede i århus
Your reactions were great! You were a true soldier Sav!!
rye does contain gluten just so you know.
Came for the 'Weird' food, stayed for SP's Danish pronunciations.
The thin chocolate is not meant to be eaten alone. Its called “chokolade pålæg” and pålæg means I guess something you put on bread. I don’t think there’s an English word for it, and if there is I can’t remember it.
Topping is the closest word I can think of.
Hey Sliceofmatt , the salty licorice can increase the blood pressure, so it is often used as a "drug" to performe better on examination due to the brain is then working a bit faster. The salty licorice can be compared with coffe when you start eating it, the more you eat it the more you like it.
Woah that's crazy! Thanks for that fun fact 😅
Haha I absolutely love this video. I'm from Denmark. How can you not like the salty fish candy??? They're so good...
Ikr
I think most of the people outside the Nordic zone doest like it actually. I brought some salted licorice ( salmiak) from Finland to Portugal and everyone that tried was horrified 😂 it was funny to see the reactions tho
Det smager da ad helvedes til.
det er pissedårlig slik
