I used to Teach for RMOC. The Arkansas River has some of the best whitewater anywhere. Numbers get harder around 3’ Gunn to watch. We ran from Granite to Heckla Junction one day through the numbers and fractions/frog rock through Buena Vista and Browns canyon. Long fun day.
Grew up along this river. Id sit on the tracks or the bridge near my mom's and watch them all go by. I never went near the "banks" though. In that area its just drop off. It can rage north of buena vista also just like the number 7 in this video. Thanks for posting. Makes me miss that time and place.
Excellent video! We did the Fractions and browns canyon in early July of 2019. The level was 4700 and surging up. This video brought back all the memories from that trip. We decided that the Numbers at that level was above our skill level - what we didn't know was that the fractions was a full-on class IV with one class V rapid at house rock.
Thanks! We did the fractions the previous day as a warm up, and it wasn't much of a warm up, it was full on. Even running through the play park and the dam section was a blast.
Tried to do this a few days ago but River Runners shut it down - did the Fractions and Narrows instead. Still got tossed once! Great time
