I thought I was getting a new computer for Christmas. Talk about surprised when I opened the first box to see a Cricut 3. My son overheard me talking with a niece at Thanksgiving who helped him find the right one and extras. I am gobsmacked! It’s been a very long time since I have been surprised at Christmas! My niece told me two things: A) Watch introductory videos before you even take it out of the box B) Use your iPad with it. That’s much easier than your phone and since my laptop is mostly for work, it keeps things separated. This video was very helpful.
@@CricutTime I have not. I watched videos, I’ve been moving things around in my crafts room and have storage and work surfaces almost sorted. However, I had to pause for prep for the start of the spring semester which happened this week. I hope to open the Cricut box tomorrow since I don’t have anything to grade this weekend. I have a faculty meeting tomorrow, but it’s not supposed to be long.
thank you had my maker 3 for 4 months never nessed eith because i wasnt sure if it needed blades or what i used printer paper like you did to get the hang of it now I'm starting to understand the whole concept so basically if it was vinyl i could of used it as a sticker or iron vinyl to iorn on to a shirt i have the hat iron kit as well but i wanna get the shirt one too and start experimenting, so i printed my name not in cursive so ots all individual letters would i normally get transfer paper to keep it all aligned or something
With cursive, you have to do 1 extra step. Just select the writing, and then click on "Combine" in the bottom right corner, and then click on either "unite" or "weld". This will remove the cut lines between each letter. Good luck!
The exact training i was looking for. Perfect. I need to cut 3 to 6 inch letter stencils into thin card. I use stencils to draw letters onto stone for sculpture. I'll need to keep centre tabs to retain the middle parts of some letters. Like O and B etc. I won't need heavy weight card. Birthday card thickness is fine. Do you think the Cricut Maker 3 could do that? Thank you very much in advance.
New cricut user and got one for the school I work at. One thing I found was that design space wouldn't open or install until I switched my laptop to using my phone's hotspot. So apparently it needs an internet connection to start design space but the school's firewall wasn't allowing that.
I am actually thinking about buying the machine, but your response will be what decides my decision, so I would like to ask you if we can use it for gold foil or not
This machine only works if it's actively logged into the cricut servers? AND our personal designs must be uploaded to their servers before we can use them on our machines in our own home?
Thank U for your excellent video as I'm trying to learn before purchasing one. Can you please tell me how I would type on an image before cutting it out? I would like to make an invitation in the shape of a bowling ball for a banquet. Thanks again!
How does it know to line it up when cutting it? Does it not have to be lined up to cut in one line? How do you know how big the paper you are cutting has to be?
Jonelle -better a late reply than no reply. From what I could see from the design area of the program there is a grid that displays the height and width of the design elements, in this case the design elements were 2" tall and fitted across the page without overlap, therefore the demonstrator cut a 3" tall strip by the width of the sheet. As for how the machine knows where to place the design elements I'm fairly sure that when the mat and media are loaded the machine does a pass, maybe two, that scan the top and bottom of the media and places the elements appropriately. Which is not to say that if the media you feed in is too small you run the risk of the cricut still cutting the elements anyway.
No worries, the dial is for the Explore line up, I just wanted to show that for those with an explore, because the set up is the same for both machines.
Uhhh help. I am technologically disabled. LOL My screen isn't anything like this. So I'm confused already. For example the fonts.. I have 4 choices. I can't seem to find the rest. Is it because you're on a computer and I'm on a tablet?
The color that you put on the mat is what it becomes. The color in Canvas (on screen) doesn’t change the color of the material. It’s for you to keep track of your layers if you have multiple.
Thank you very much, clear, concise instructions without any unnecessary waffle. I will be following from now on
Glad it was helpful!
Havent used a cricut for over 10yrs.... just got a maker 3 and - so super excited to re-learn and enjoy. Cricut has come a long way!!
For all the videos I’ve watched for beginners. This one’s the best. Thank you ❤
Thanks, glad I could help!
Thank you so much for your tutorial. You have simplified set up and use and as a seem to be new cricket owner you will definitely be a go to thank you
Thank you very much! I will start to explore the app now, I would like to see if I can print out any patterns noo for my sewing project!
This is such a great video. VERY informative and straight to the point
Thanks!

Thanks! Want to get one to make tshirts for my fam and me. You made this less overwhelming. Which machine do you recommend?
You forgot to do how to calibrate, do you have a video about calibration for the maker 3 because i am having trouble

Awesome Tutorial. A very well made Video. Thank you.

Can you upload a logo/image you already have to cut out?
Yes
Hello what is the name of vinyl I need to use to just use standard transfer tape and to not use strong transfer tape. Thanks
When will cricut maker 3 go on sale for $349.00 again? Kicking myself for missing that sale price recently
that was very useful. thank you
Thanks!
is it normal for my door that won't open when I open top door as you demonstrated on this video? I literally manually pull down the 2nd door!
So helpful, thanks!
Can you connect cricket with app instead of computer?
You showed a dial to adjust the cut on a cricut Maker 3. Mine doesn't have a dial. Is the dial standard?
No worries, the dial is for the Explore line up, I just wanted to show that for those with an explore, because the set up is the same for both machines.
How does it know if you’re using card stock or any other?
you mention a dial, where is it on the maker 3?
Is the Cricut Maker 3 bluetooth compatible?
yeah
You are a great tutor
I appreciate that, thanks!
Hi, what paper did you use?
I mean the paper you used for practicing?
Thank you for this!
No worries!
Can I make labels on fabric
You sure can! ua-cam.com/video/lk6kWPWY1Jw/v-deo.html
Design Space only shows for MAC. So does that mean it doesnt work with Microsoft WIndows?
It works with Windows as well, here is a link that can help: help.cricut.com/hc/en-us/articles/360009378474-Design-Space-Downloads
Why can’t the Cricut not print and cut in 12x12?
Is this machine compatible with an Apple IPad ?
It sure is!
I ❤ u a lot.
Uhhh help. I am technologically disabled. LOL
My screen isn't anything like this. So I'm confused already. For example the fonts.. I have 4 choices. I can't seem to find the rest.
Is it because you're on a computer and I'm on a tablet?
Yes, but you can download new fonts into your tablet if you want more to work with. There are lots of free font sites out there like www.dafont.com
Mine didn't even come with a blame or tools..
I got the maker 3 today no mat or tools 😢
Return it. It should come with those things if you get the full set
I thought you made this yellow? How come it's white?
The color that you put on the mat is what it becomes. The color in Canvas (on screen) doesn’t change the color of the material. It’s for you to keep track of your layers if you have multiple.
I was under the impression that you didn’t need a mat to cute with the maker 3. Is that incorrect?
You dont need a mat for smart viynl
So when exactly do u need a mat?
Very helpful video, thank you, and a charming accent also, where in America do you hale from?
I wish I would buy a machine without tools! Smh🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
What is this thing? What is it used for?
Welcome! This is a smart cutting machine for crafting!
Does not come with tools.
buy 3rd party brand...its cheaper with same quality
Some are sold as a bundle deal with tools and or sample materials
Mines darn sho didn't
@MrOner07 can you suggest one?
@@ihavenoideawhatimdoinghere6285 nicapa...off brand one works too
I appreciate your video, but you went too fast for beginners.
U can slow down the playback speed friend. And add captions...
@@thorragnarok2861
Thank you!
Use pause and slow speed.
Standard UA-cam tools.
Ugh the looping music! 🤦♂😟
Is that Minnie Mouse doing the voiceover? It’s so little girlish I couldn’t sit through this video.
What happened to You Tube Respect for others rule?
Did you miss that one?
