- This is a basic video on how to locate and replace a crank sensor and evap purge valve, this will be the same for all 2009 - 2014 genesis with the v8 option ( 4.6 & 5.0 )

Thank you. My 09 has 235K miles and the throttle was so variable it was annoying. Sometimes It wouldn't have much power. Then it started occasionally shutting off at stoplights. I changed it a few hours ago, thank you for your video! and it appears cured. Amazingly, it seems like it has way more horsepower now!
Yeah, it’ll feel like a big horsepower boost because it’s not in limp mode anymore.
When changing the crankshaft position sensor does the car need to be reset and some kind of way to recognize the new sensor? I have to change mine this weekend. Thank you
My car has been sitting for about two months now ! I swapped the gas pump put in new ignition coils spark plugs changed the camshaft sensors almost everything so now I’ve ordered the parts you swapped hopefully it runs again 😮💨

Thanks for the vids and info. I also have a 09 w/ 4.6 tech package. I did the same replacement over a year ago as the Gen would randomly not start. Have you had any issues with your transmission where it stays locked in park or bucks out of first gear when accelerating from a stop. This happened to my car and I did some research and watched a lot of vids how to replace the transmission solenoids, plastic bridge and ZF fluid and new pan replacement. Did the work myself and she is running like a champ.
Where did you buy the kit or individual parts to service the transmission? I'm looking to do my solenoids as well, did you need to reset the adaptions after you got done?
My 2011 Genesis 4.6 is getting a P0496(2 /2) Evaporative Emission System High Purge Flow …. How would you fix this .

Does the 4.6 have a pcv valve? My 297k 4.6 equus running strong but burning oil
Yes, PCV is on the drivers side but both valve covers vent into the intake. You can run 2 catch cans for both covers and reduce oil consumption
I've got a genesis 2016 5.0. is the crank sensor in the same location as the one in the video?
Yeah it should be
what about the location on a 2013 genesis sedan. the engine looks different.
you probably have a 3.8 V6 then, the crank sensor will be in the same location but the purge valve will be somewhere else
Good morning. Would the location be the same for my 2014 Hyundai Equus?
if its a 4.6 & 5.0 then yes to both, if its a 3.8 then only the crank sensor is in the same spot
I replaced my purge valve and was still having issues, watched it video and realized I put my purged valve in backwards 🤦🏻♂️😂😂

the crank sensor is but not the evap purge valve
@@GenerationGarage I ordered a crank sensor for my 2012 v6 3.8 genesis from advanced auto and it does not look like the one in the video. It doesn't have a tail wire leaving from the sensor just a direct plug in at the sensor. nor do I see the 3 connector that you mentioned at the rear of the engine

Getting similar issues, crank but no start. Did this crankshaft position sensor resolve your issue?
If you get an OBD 2 sensor and plug it into your car it should tell you where the problem is coming from…. They cost like $20 but there are some that are less… you shouldn’t get expensive ones unless you’re a mechanic anyway but it’s always good to have one in the car with you
yes it did, while your cranking it over try pumping the gas, if you can get it to start then its gonna most likely be the sensor issue but I'd also change the evap solenoid while you're there
@@GenerationGarage Hey thanks, I can eventually get it to start if I try about 10 times and pump the gas like you say. Only on cold starts. If it’s warm it starts no problem. Changed Canister Purge Solenoid valve recently too.
@@mike64mike64mike64 thanks for the reply. I have a pretty decent OBD-II scanner and all it is showing is random misfires on startup. It seems I have similar symptoms to this crank position sensor issue though. I changed plugs recently and they still look fine, showing slightly rich condition, but misfires explain that. Also on the list is to pull injectors and check for buildup causing clogs/leaks.
@@drewlee9062 yeah then i'd swap the sensor, make sure to spend the money and get a real oem one and not a china cheep one as they can cause problems or stop working sooner
What fail does when is bad?
Hard to start or no start at all, engine will just crank or the car will also stall out

Just crank but doesn’t start, I replaced the fuel pump 3 times 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
