That viaduct is amazing! To think that I've travelled over it loads of times going to Brighton not realising how beautiful it is. I will be going to photograph it soon, especially as it's only a 50 minute train journey to get there. A really good video too. I never knew a 50mm lens could do so much.
Pretty much all the wild flowers that I've seen in your videos can be found here in New York State in abundance as well. I love shooting wild flower macros and I've shot that purple flower a lot myself. I was surprised that you didn't take a shot or two of the Queen Anne's Lace. I have tons of shots of it and it's one of my favorties. The shots with your daughter were great. I especially like the one with her in the curvature of the wall with the rest of them behind her. Excellent composition.
Hello David, I just want to thank you for all the videos. I am a deep admirer of your work and I really take advantage of all your tutorials and advice. Thanks =)
I love my nifty fifty! Best $85.00 I've ever spent! You really achieve some great comps with yours. I don't use my nifty fifty as often as I should, until now. Gavin, I enjoy all your vids. Just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to share your love with photography with us!
Hi Fraser All the photographs were taken in RAW. If your camera has it use RAW. With the flattened crop photo's I increased the contrast and clarity. I reduced the vibrancy a and darkened the corners.
Hi Gavin, I am a fan of your videos. It would be awesome if in your next 15 min challenge, you would include a second part of it, in which you show us the post-process you usually do to your photos! Nice job an keep these inspiring videos coming in.
Actually it took less then 30 minutes to do all the images. Watch this weeks video(week 66) to see how I did it. The secret? Shoot in RAW and use presets.
These photographs/location are/is excellent. It makes me want to dig around locally and see if I can find such great locations. Sadly, the way the United States goes, a lot of locations like this, where it can potentially be dangerous and lead to lawsuits, are closed off or fenced off.
Absolutely a great video as always. I REALLY look forward to Gavins videos. You my friend are correct, it is a wheat field with no corn fields in sight. You were respectful about it though, and that's much more than I can say for the average young UA-cam commenter. My guess is that Gavin knows the difference between a wheat and cornfield, but just had a brain flub moment as we all do from time to time. :)
That was a stroke of luck, that there happened to be a random young girl walking in the corn fields, near the viaduct. I never get 'Props' like that appear when I am out taking photos ;-) Actually, it looks like you have a stalker, as she pops up in alot of your videos !!!! ;-) I'm based Reigate, so I LOVE your 15 min challenges even more, as i can visit exact locations. I didn't even know the Aviation Musuem existed in Charlwood !!!! ;-) You are finding wonderful sites for my photography ;)
The BW photos at around 3:04 has a strange halo / glow at the bridge top - either some excessive shadow adjustment or HDR going on? Good sharing - thanks.
Actually I realise that the photos get more and more photoshopped towards the end of the video: for instance the portraits and the squashed corn - the result is excellent but it's slightly misleading as to what you can achieve in 15 minutes :)
of course u can. he's using a 400D himself with a 50mm/1.8. it always amazes me what he can do with this setup. but again, he is a master in photoshop, which i assume plays a big part also in his pictures.
After seeing this video i search where about it was (because its an amazing location and i also live in west sussex) and realized its about a 20 minute drive away! I'm hoping to do some light art there sometime in the near future :) THANKYOU
As a new photographer and new to SLR's i wouldn't have taken the shots i have in the 3 weeks of owning my D60 without your help and video tutorials gavin. Thanks a lot, look forward to seeing your next vid. (if you have time as well i would love for you to see my photo's that i've done and maybe give me some tips) Take care.
Correct. Outside North America, corn is a general word for cereal crops and their grain.
