At last an honest review from an actual photographer that uses the camera rather than a collector of shiny things. A breath of fresh air in this desert of camera reviews about the latest and greatest.
This “slowing down” experience with Leicas can be done with most cameras in my experience if you just shoot 100% manual focus lenses. So slap a Voigtlander 18 or 27 on your Xpro (ovf/evf) or other Fujis or adapt M mount lenses to your Fuji or Nikon or Canon or Sony and the “slowing down” feels the same as my M10R. What I don’t hear many talk about that took me years to figure out what I lost moving from DSLRs to mirrorless is shooting with an OVF and then the delayed “how did it turn out” dopamine hit by chimping (or later seeing on your monitor). And great photos by the way! The Thypoch 28 truly is mindblowing for the price.
I think my biggest take away, like in my 5Dmark iii video is, like you said.. optical viewfinder but you dont get that from fuji because you can't actually focus through optical viewfinder YET, unfortunately. The rangefinder works for my nose so I can really get in there. I started with optical and it is very nostalgic. I have more videos on this. Thank you for watching and yes the Thypoch slaps hard.
@ yeah man closest we can get for that is the Xpro OVF with the tiny bottom right EVF for critical focus. I get some people don’t care about these things but after shooting for 10-15 years and good shots being no problem these little nuances become HUGE factors in the shooting experience. Kinda like driving a manual muscle car vs a Porsche GT3 with paddleshifters. For me, the Leica rangefinder experience is the most enjoyable. And can always throw a visoflex on if you REALLY need to overcome the ovf limitations (ie shooting wider than 24 or say shooting at 0.95/1.1 with a 50mm). I’ll check out your 5DM3 video as the 5DM2 was my first “Holy Grail” camera 🤣
Also yeah totally agree that after getting used to shooting with a rangefinder/style positioning of the ovf/evf SUPER hard to go back to smashing my big oily nose all over my screen. 🤣🤣🤣
Love the photos. The metering modes are for Live View only, because they work off of the sensor. When shooting in normal mode you get center weighted regardless of the metering mode setting. I also have an M10, and agree with everything you said.
When I look at your photos, I feel like I'm looking at a National Geographic/Time retrospective of best photographic moments in America. Just so incredibly rich and evocative.
Big nose gang! If you’re looking for another great camera for big noses, the Fuji GFX 100ii is a godsend. Great video. I shoot all my personal project and life with the MP240/M6 and I resonated a lot with what you said. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Hunter. 📷 ❤️

Great photos, nice camera and lens combo. I also love picking up M bodies most of the time when I'm travelling. It's my system of choice for almost everything.
Great Video and great photos, thank you! I tried many different cameras from DSLR to compact, but the M system is the one that makes me (1) pick up my camera the most, and (2) is the most joy to use. And that is all that matters.
I totally agree with you about needing to use a simpler camera sometimes, to remind yourself about why you love photography. I also use Sony cameras when precision is required, but they feel way too smart and easy. I use Leica SL and manual focus lenses to return to basics. Would love an M10 when I can afford one.
I did the same thing with my SL as well and mostly with the GFX, I feel like I always need a camera that is less tuned to the race in technology. Thanks so much for watching!
Great great stuff, you can tell from the images that you're locked into the creative process of using the camera. You loving that Thypoch?! I've heard it's excellent.
Came across this video looking for a flash recommendation and for my M10. Such an amazing camera, recently shot my first wedding on mine for a friend (alongside a comically massive canon speedlite as I don’t have a smaller flash) and I was blown away with the photos. Rangefinders just feel natural to use, agree on your points. Not for everybody though
Hey! I use external flash for mine at weddings, I have not put a flash on top of this camera yet though. Really wish I had a recommendation for that. That sounds like me at a wedding, the photos are vastly different from my Sony cameras even though I am shooting them beside each other. I really appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment!
@@hunterhart1 No worries! Thanks for the response. I’ve read that the godox TT350 is a good flash to use with it, will pick one up soon. Great video and that camera brings life to your photos. One thing. Remember that spot metering is only available on the M10 when live view is turned on. Otherwise the camera only has Center Weighted metering. Btw, since you love 28mm, what makes this camera better for you than the Q series? The rangefinder or the possibility to change lenses? Thanks for sharing.
I prefer the Q in a lot of situations but it is just the lens options for this. I like the Voigtlander 28mm as well and 35 for the flares, things the Q could never do unfortunately. However, if I were to decide to go to another camera from this one I’d go Q2.

awesme dude, really really great pics like always, continue sharing us all your progress. Do you think that in the future you would work only with Leica M? I have the same perception as you when using the M, it is less invasive. Hugs
I don’t think I would work solely with an M camera due to limitations and client expectations. If I could, I would shoot only black and white on an M10 monochrom but that’s not in the cards. If I were rich and didn’t need work, I would. So I guess that’s the only way 😅. Thanks so much for your compliment 🙏🏼🙏🏼
what's viewfinder blockage with 50mm and 28mm? I'd really appreciate if you do review on your 28mm and how it works with m10 considering framelines, viewfinder blockage and etc
I love them but my only issue is that with correct glass, nearly any camera can replicate 99.9% of what the Leica produces (your shots are stellar, you'd produce quality on anything with your skill). Such a high cost that in reality gains you the smallest benefits, if any. I suppose same goes for a Rolex. There are many watches that are more accurate, careful in design or with more features... yet the Rolex sits atop its throne. At that point you have to ask yourself, is the name worth the extra $3,000? Does anybody looking at these images know, or even care it was shot on a Leica at the end of the day? We all know the answer. Yet here I sit, with my over priced watches...
@@jordanjoestar8839 I completely agree with this. I feel like there’s a bit more functionality to the camera than watches but I understand what you mean. It’s all preference.
