Thanks for the input. Those are sealed bearings, and putting a grease fitting on the column would fill up the entire inside of the cavity with grease, which would make a huge mess. Instead we use a needle thrust bearing on the bottom to take the load off of the bearings to make them last longer. All of 4 of the flange bearings and the two thrust bearings bearings and washers will have to be replaced occasionally, and the cost to do so is minimal.
