3:50 The reason it works is the window jambs just.. simply aren't solid This specific window on frontier are made out of world brushes (essentially 3d-shapes, typically cubes, with textures), and the map developers likely made the jambs non-solid objects at some point in development and forgot to resolidify them when changing it later
A lot of brush-made window sills in TF2 are non-solid. I found one just today on Itemtest; you can tell because you can't put bullet holes in it. I don't know why they're like this. It can't be for collision reasons; most windows are clipped flush with the wall they're in. It also takes up an entity slot unnecessarily. It's weird. Maybe they went to make it a func_detail (What it should be) and for some reason accidentally switched it to a func_brush? But then how did they also accidentally set collision to false?
@@CathodeRayKobold Some brushes in tf2 are solid and can't have bullet holes put in them, it could be there's an invisible brush infront or they have the "block bullets" brush texture infront of them, there's also other reasons something may not be able to receive bullet holes but it's rather niche
@@CathodeRayKobold It's also fully possible they just copy pasted the brush from elsewhere on the map or a prefab, either of which have the brush set to be a func_brush with solidity set to false
Wrong explanation. The window jambs are entities (prop_static), so just models, window004d.mdl to be precise. It simply had its collisions set to Non Solid. The window bit to the right has the same problem but it has an additional blockbullets brush to, well, block bullets.
theres this crazy bug that you didn't mention, as pyro if you rightclick with a projectile in your general feild of view(doesn't have to be on screen even) you can shoot it away from you, this on its own may have been a pretty cool feature, although the hitbox would need to be adjusted, but thats not all, it doubles the projectiles damage, meaning you can one shot souldiers and demos when done properly. its insane that this hasnt been fixed yet, its been in the game for ages.
9:33 Map Brushes are invisible shapes (typically square) that basically say “hey, do this” to the game, being the same size as or slightly larger than the room/area its in. Its like a trigger that only activates when a player is inside of the shape’s volume.
This exploit works because that door is slightly indented into the wall, making a small spot that isnt inside of the brush’s volume, since the brush only goes to the wall and not the door.
Oh- and if youre curious what triggers are, triggers are like checkpoints. So, say you walk through a door and a cutscene plays in a game, it happens because you hit a trigger (checkpoint) in that door. If you were somehow able to avoid touching these triggers however, it would lead to bugs, which is why many multiplayer games like tf2 use brushes.
You can also use the grenade taunt on spawn doors. You need to look directly at the door, walk into it and then turn left like 10° and then you can do it
Very cool video! I knew all of them, except the cart-blocking one you showed at the very start. Thank you for mentioning my long ass knowledge dump video, that - for some reason - got almost no views (even tho I put literal months of effort into it). Also, it was cool to once again see the ol' Yukon map-leaving exploit. I almost got a bit emotional, for it was the first proper exploit I ever made a video about. It reminded me of the good ol' times when the crouch-lock was still a thing (even tho you don't need it for this exploit; cuz technically it is not 'out-of-bound'). Well, thanks again, and have a good one! :)
Seeing a soldier from raising his hands surrendering to grabbing rockets out of thin air and simultaneously exploding has to be one of the most hilarious things I've seen.
6:00 I actually fell for this trap during a casual match. The engineer was laughing at everybody who got there and all you could do was kill bind. Now I know how to troll people like this too!
i remember the quickfix used to launch you really far if you were healing a demo that tried to jump with 8 stickies. I used this to back cap on well twice in a row
sd_doomsday_event used to have an excellent out-of-bounds exploit that allowed you to escape the map and place a sentry in the enemy spawn. You had to use the minify spell and walk into a rock wall whilst crouched, when the spell ended you clipped through the wall.
Classic TF2! Some of these simply make the game more fun imo. I used to love building sentries in spots they weren’t supposed to be. My all time favorite was the gold rush ledge on last, though technically not an exploit, they made it a no build zone later, and it made me sad. The CP_Steel sticky exploit and badwater teleporter are CLASSICS as well! Though they’re difficult to hold for long.
Fun Fact The "12. Blowing Up Enemies Through The Ceiling: (15:57)" can also be done on 2fort, in the sewers on the top of the rim when going into the base
16:03 you can crouch jump onto the ledge of the window on swift water which lets you get a taunt kill through the window, i’ve only done it once on red, not sure if it works on blue
lol I have been trolled by friendly engineers being thrown into the badlands map room before. Badlands was my favorite casual rotation map (probably still is), and this definitely is a cool example of one of those weird glitches you forget about. Weird to think this hasn't been fixed but I guess since it doesn't really "break" anything they don't care to fix weird stuff like this. Which I guess is more to the point that Valve doesn't care. Thanks for the memories. :D
the equalizer/escape plan one can be done in the 2fort sewers, right under the enterance there's a pipe rim you can get on and it you get as close to the ceiling as you can youll survive
For #1 they just forgot to solidify the object and that's why you can shoot through it, also sometimes they mess up with props and make it hollow. They could easily place invisible brush on the effected areas as well and block bullet completely.
on frontier map, you can build tele inside one of the last RED spawn room (at the foot of the resupply locker). I usually build a secret tele exit on the cabin roof out side the last BLU spawn then sentry camp there.
In cp_gorge_event; in blu spawn, there is a very small area that you can build buildings inside blu's (1st) spawn room its not very difficult. I dont know if it's patched yet
for the soldier on exploit 12, you can also do this on Hightower. You need a low damage rocket launcher or the rocket jumper and the base jumper. you have to rocket jump behind the tower and then rocket jump onto the wooden things holding up the tower. sometimes when taunting you just die anyway and im not sure why. The scout can also get onto this area with the atomizer
You can also do the equalizer taunt on Doublecross on the sewer pipes under either teams warehouse, the set up is extremely easy and because of the flank route getting there is easy as well.
This reminded me of a really old bug (probably patched) where you could place a teleporter inside the ground of Gravelpit (I think). People from inside could shoot outside, but not the opposite.
For the first one they added the prop but didn't make it solid, I dont map anymore but it's something along those lines. They forgot to add attributes to it when they spawned it in to the map
As a game developer I have a guess for why you can shoot through the window edges. Since the window is glass, and the wall is not the window needs to have a different collider so that it plays the correct sound, and visuals when hit; the map maker probably sized the window collider correctly to match the glass, and the collider for the wall was sized to fit to the outer edge of the trim (possibly by an entirely different person) and no 3rd collider was put in for the trim because it was assumed that the colliders were lined up which would have been consistent with testing unless one of them tried to shoot that trim which is unlikely to occur by chance since it's a small gap that you can't see through. Take this with a grain of salt as while I know about game development I have never personally worked with source, or hammer so this explanation could be entirely false.
Missed instant respawn on frontier on Blu CP 1 if you switch class. One of my favs is going sticky jumper demo, you'll be back to the same fight you died in after 4-5 seconds
There is also a good exploit on Frontier, but I've seen it only once in a real pub game, and I don't know how to replicate it. Hope someone here will guide me Across the second RED spawn on Frontier there is a hut with the staircase behind it. These stairs are have a locked door at the very bottom, and this door opens once the 2nd point is capped. The exploit allows this door to stay closed even after the point is capped. This allows a red engi to build a tele exit on the stairs (with tele entrance in the last spawn so tele is 100% safe) and setup a VERY strong defense on the highground.
The window on frontier is penetratable because the collision was disabled, so if the glass and wall weren't there, you'd be able to walk through the frame.

Make sure to look perpendicularly to the shutter to have the widest margin of error. You forgot the announcer spam exploits on Dustbowl and Gravel Pit that haven’t been patched ever since the game’s release. For the Dustbowl one, you need to be on stage 2 as blue team, and go in that tunnel at the first point to get right under the point and jump. Then after you jump, you need to tap your crouch button RIGHT when your head touches the ceiling in order to trigger the announcer for the red team. And for the Gravel Pit one, you need to be at the A point as blue, and get to that medkit room underneath the point to do the same exact thing while standing on one of the barrels. And you forgot this one on Hydro too that ALSO was unpatched since the game’s release. And anyone who hates that map got spoiled by the newer maps.
