Trumpet technology! I love science. Will this also work with other horns? Thank you Josh for sharing your experiences with us. Your review was excellent!

Wonderful innovative product. Every professional trumpet player should be using this. Well designed, light weight, solves the problem of finding your mutes which are somewhere on the floor around your chair.

The worst is when you accidentally kick the mute on the floor and it rolls away out of reach - this definitely solves that.

I have the Longoria and have used it on countless gigs for some years now, and love it. I’ve tried most of the different types of mute racks going back to the vintage ones, and I agree with your assessment.
I don’t have their artist model yet, but I will be treating myself to one after seeing this review. Thanks!

Thanks! I’m really digging both of them on my stand at home, feels like I got everything at my fingertips. I imagine on certain gigs it would also be clutch.

Ok, the Longoria model may be something I'd check out. I use the Hercules that has the arms that swivel. It's ok for portability, but the one you showed seems extremely versatile!

I also have the ones with the swivel arms, which is nice, but I do dig all the added features of the longoria.

I find the Longoria model to have issues- If you're using a book (like for a Pit Orch) the pages get caught on the shelf, then you're adding more weight to the desk of the stand (add a book and a stand light = problems - many stands can't handle this). I will say that I do use this with Big Band stand fronts. The Artist model is more universally applicable.

Thanks for the input! I used them both for a few weeks, I could see how pages could get caught there depending on how much music you have on the stand, etc. I usually keep a few books on my stand all at once so I didn't notice that, I think all the pages ended up being past the ridge. The artist model is really terrific, I think I'd probably be bringing that to gigs the most as it's much more compact. You do need a good strong stand to put a light, music, longoria, etc ... but that's usually easily fixed with some pliers (I actually saw Roger Ingram pull out some pliers on a gig to tighten a stand, he comes prepared for everything!).
The Longoria I'd definitely use on gigs, I think it would be terrific for recitals (unless you've got everything memorized - then a stand with a cloth on it to keep the clanking down would be my go-to.

@@JoshRzepkaMusic I have used the Longoria and I think it's great. Iv'e never had problems with the pages getting caught The only problem I have had was my Manhasset was old and it wouldn't stay raised like it should. No problem. I drilled a hole through the shaft and added a bolt. Gig over I removed the bolt and lowerd the stand. The Longoria is made from a plastic that you can really beat up and not hurt it.

Thanks! That is actually a shirt from Three Keys Coffee out of Houston, TX! Small independent coffee shop with a coffee roaster that’s also a trumpeter. Great coffee, and cool shirts too.
