It's really straightforward: if you choose the "Chloe" ending, Chloe is alive; if you choose to save Arcadia Bay and its people, Chloe dies. That’s the core decision at the end of Life is Strange. It’s not complicated, yet people seem to overthink it. The game developers themselves confirmed this approach in Life is Strange: Double Exposure. As quoted from the game's wiki, “The game avoids making one of the two endings from the first game canon by allowing players to choose an ending organically in Double Exposure.” The game’s narrative director, Felice Kuan, explained, "We knew we had to respect the two unforgettable endings to the first chapter of Max's story while crafting something new… [that] moved Max's personal story forward." Even Jon Stauder, the game director, emphasized that neither ending is canon. Instead, the player's final choice is reflected through Max’s thoughts, her journal, and her interactions with others. It’s about letting players carry forward the consequences of their decision from the original game. So, it's as simple as this: either Chloe is alive, or she’s dead. The choice is yours.
I agere that Bloom and Rage feels way way more Life is Strange than this, Also the fact that They Are constantly promoting this as a «murder mystery» game instead of just a LiS game is VERY worrying.
I was hoping that this wasn't a cash grab like everyone said true colors was because I loved playing true colors and it felt like a life is strange game. (i got to play it free from the xbox gamepass so im kinda bias) But true colors and double exposure costing more than $50 is ridiculous, especially considering that Max's powers were stolen from Tristian, a character from the Lis comics. They just switched the characters around because they knew the game wouldn't have succeeded without Max as the main character it's sad deck nine cares more about money than integrity.
It’s interesting what you say about Tristan and swapping the characters out. Makes me wonder if an early concept of this game had a different protagonist. So far, the only part of the original game that appears to be carried through to DE is Max herself.
Don't get me wrong. I am looking forward to the new game. However, the original spawned a vast collection of fanfictions. Anything you wanted you could have. How about Max and Chloe with kids attending Blackwell? Oh yes, one where Kate hooks up with Victoria. I am interested in how this game will affect LiS fanfiction.
I agree on certain points you make, however I don’t see what you mean by the comment about Bloom and Rage. I think Bloom and Rage is more similar to true colours than it is to the original LIS game. Of course, it also depends on which aspects you compare it to, and I’m curious as to how or what made you feel that way
Bloom and Rage feels fresh, vibrant and brimming with character. I’m intrigued because I don’t know much about it - It’s exactly how I felt about LIS when I first started playing it. DE doesn’t feel that way, it looks good but there’s something missing and I can’t quite put my finger on it. I don’t wanna go down the road of calling it a cooperate, cash grab coz’ I wanna give it a chance - but when the cost is high, and d9 are trying to please people on both sides, it makes me question d9s reason for making this game in the first place. LIS was made with heart, and I don’t wanna judge DE before it’s even out but I don’t feel it’s been made with the same intensions. I hope I’m wrong.
While there is no doubt a lot of care went into the game, I can’t help but think Max’s appearance is only to revive the series. She’s the only thing shown so far connecting this game to the others. She might have been swapped in mid-writing once the metrics for True Colors arrived.

Looking forward to lis de but not the price tag😢
Agreed. Double the price to get a 2-week early release? Remember how the original was marketed?
it feels as if we could have this story with or without max if you get what i mean...

I guess there will have to be tags on ongoing and future fanfics that don't use the canon of Double Exposure in their fanfic.
@@Dreamprism Yes, that will work, of course now we will have new stuff to write about, like maybe what happened to Chloe.

Right. This is what I’ve also wondered.
