Another great video. Especially appreciate how you talk about common mistakes (like taking down the string line), and why it can be a problem. thanks Paul!

Not sure if you've covered this in other videos, but do you have to set the brackets in the concrete when using a pier system or can you anchor brackets afterwords?

    2 вопроса:
    1. Почему не используете вибратор для бетона?
    2. Почему не ставите отделяющую прокладку гидроизоляции между деревом и металлом в том месте, где они соприкосаются внизу стоек?

I have a question. Why not run the string line parallel with the batter boards? To mark the true outline of the house?
Are you taking into consideration the framing? Is that why you are doing the string lines further in than the boards?

Question. Why not raise your brackets for all piers like the porch and slab over the pier so that all of the brackets are resting on the slab and pier?

Do you use 4 ply columns when going over 16’ mainly because of the wind that you have in the Midwest.
I live in Kentucky and had planned on using 3ply columns with 18’ sidewalls.

I've seen other builders use three ply up to 18' and four ply above that. So, I think it is about the overall engineering structure, is it sheathed, and location. If you have to go four ply, costs for posts and brackets goes up quite a bit.

Still in planing stage but looking at 20' side walls and thinking 4 ply was a smart choice as I was looking at mounting floor truss hangers to the walls for the second floor so tge posts would be holding everything from the roof and second floor but I'm not an engineer and have not talked with one yet.

Do you vibrate the concrete footings?

Would the swp66 be logical to use on one level 10 foot tall Im gonna be building a 40 x 50 early next year and plan on joining patreon group!

Do you hold your bracket edge slightly off of your string line when you set it so you don't push your line out? Since you can make that up by sneaking your post out to the exact outer edge.

  • @markdodd4513

    No rebar

There is on the brackets + the engineering reports don’t call for extra.

      0 is the highest pier.

Can you use dry set brackets for all posts? Or do you need the SWP64 for 4ply?

3.18 and 2.86 if you by 100 or more. That’s in California. We always get the shaft.

Well that’s abrasive. 😜 Lumber isn’t cheap but my local Menards has about 6,800 of them for $3.25, so I guess not entirely accurate.
