He was NOT pulling out a gun, the cop even told Tao that he wasn't armed. All he had was his lighter. Walt was gravely ill and decided that the best way to help Tao and Sue (as he didn't have long to live anyway) was to set those guys up to kill him in front of witnesses so they get sent to the Pen for a long time. That's why he went to confession, got a straight shave re-wrote his will and got a fitted suit (to be buried in) because he knew he was going to die. Walt sacrificed himself to save Tao and Sue.

He pulled out his lighter to light the cigarette.
Also, remember, he was dying of lung cancer. By accosting the gang UNARMED, he saved the neighbors, and gave his own death a deeper meaning.

  • @2tone753

The tragedy is that at the end of his life, Walt gets the family he doesn't have himself. Two absolutely great children that he is very proud of. To whom he and his health are very important. A neighborhood that also deserves the name. None of them are interested in their legacies or inheritance.
They only care about Walt as a person.
People with decency. If you die you at least give it all a meaning. He sacrifices himself in the maximum way possible. The Torino and the bitch go to the one who would have been a good son and who is a good friend.
It's worth dying for, especially since the long journey through the illness would be much worse. An outstanding film!

His kids weren't trying to be nice when they wanted to put him in a home. They wanted his house, and stuff. They were all evil. The opening scene was their mother/grandmother's funeral for God's sake, and they were laughing and joking. Disgusting.
P.S. Hilarious commentary on washing machine repair.

  • @SimoExMachina2
    @SimoExMachina2 Місяць тому +1

A little anecdote about my washing machine. This was soon after me and my wife (rest her soul), had moved to our first apartment that was truly ours (we took a loan from the bank and bought it), and we got a new washing machine. The first time we tried it, it started making really loud banging sounds and junping up and down. It even fell down from the little raised alcove, which was its place in our bathroom. It was a mystery to us, why did it behave like that. As it turns out, we forgot to remove the safety pins that hold the drum in place, so turning on the machine made the engine fight against those pins, so it was shaking like a mama Focker. I guess you learn something new every day.

It’s an amazing movie! Yet again, any movie with Clint Eastwood is amazing. The movie is several years old now and who’d of known how prophetic it would become, and relative today. Clint Eastwood is genius! ❤️

Walt sacrificed himself for the family next door. He knew his death needed meaning instead wasting away. He also felt it was necessary to rid himself of killing in war. No matter how necessary it is to kill in war, it haunts you. Yes, he was a good man.

He went unarmed to face them. His intent was to sacrifice himself so Tao & his family would be safe & free of them. He didn't want the shadow of causing death to loom over Tao"s life like it loomed over his life since the Korean war. He was dying, & his sacrifice was his last chance of doing something good for another.

Couldn't agree more. This guy is very good commenting and I'm tempted to hit his Patreon. But the political commentary is WAY WAY out there. Unfortunately he believes all the nonsense that he watches, and comments from the far right conspiracy theorists. He needs to learn critical thinking and rebalance his political views. But I enjoy his friendly and affable demeanor and he has great heart in his movie commentaries. I might just still sub and hit up that Patreon.

My cousin and i asked to walk to the pharmacy in Detroit, so we could get some pop and candy. My aunt said, dont take the alley. We didnt on the way there; however, we did on the way back. We were grabbed, then ran all the way home. She knew we took the alley. This was the late 1970s and i was about 11. Not uncommon to use alleys in Detroit. It was how you got to your garage in some neighborhoods.

Another reactor who talked over all of the important parts. Dude, he didn't have a gun. He went there knowing he was going to die. If you'd been paying attention then you would have noticed he only had a lighter in his hand. And then when Tao got there the police officer told him he did not have a gun, but you obviously did not hear that.

Actually, it was an Uzi in the early part of the movie. One of the better movies made in the last 20 years, in my opinion. Matriarchal societies are not common, but they are not bad. Old white people are generally not bad either, in my opinion. If people want to continue a gang/tribal mentality, then I guess we should just keep on doing what we are doing.

    1. Sue and Yum Yum are a couple of little cuties.😍😍
    2. With a family like that it's no wonder Walt befriends the Hmong family.
    3. The guy Trey with Sue is played by Scott Eastwood. Clint's son.
    4. Many Asian cultures prohibit touching someone on the head. Another "Don't Do" in Thailand is point your toes at someone.
    5. My surrogate father had that collection of tools. 😎 He didn't have all the tools in the world. Just the ones he needed.
    6. Guys don't normally talk to each other like that unless they're very close (or drunk)🙄
    7. Walt does have a death wish. He's sick and going to die anyway. He's a hero again🦾
He got rid of the thugs and donated the house to the church😇😇
PS I live in northern Nevada, and if you don't "Ablo Espanol" you don't get hired for construction jobs.
