Guys, seriously, copyright on UA-cam is really something else. Sorry for the inconvenience.
In today’s video I’m watching Clint Eastwood’s 2008 drama „Gran Torino”. This movie surprised the heck out of me - in the best way possible! Starring Clint Eastwood, Bee Vang, Ahney Her and Cristopher Carley.
    Have fun!

'Car guy' checking in..Walt's thing with the car is that he went to work at a Ford assembly plant in Detroit after he got home from Korea. He helped build it - there's a line where he mentions that he installed the steering column in it. Notice that the old beat-up pickup truck he uses as a 'daily driver' is also a Ford. By the mid-'00s, a lot of those factories had closed. Detroit was a mess. Poverty and gang warfare. Walt was just hanging on to the past. Hence the the thing early in the film where he makes the racist comments about how his neighborhood's changing, and the Hmong grandma next door that hates him wonders why he didn't move out of the neighborhood like 'all of the other Americans'. Great reaction, dude..just trying to add some context to the car stuff. You nailed everything else!

I don't think there is a Clint Eastwood movie I haven't seen. I even remember Clint from Rawhide. What an amazing lifetime of work. Thanks Clint.

Loved your reaction. This movie, as well as “Unforgiven,” has even more impact on Clint Eastwood fans who have seen his classic westerns from the 1960s and ’70s, in which he is the incomparable gunfighter.
When I showed this to my daughter, she noticed a significant detail that I had missed in two previous viewings and which I have never seen mentioned by a reactor. The priest is surprised that Walt’s confession is so short, but that is because his real confession is to Thao, to whom he tells of his killing of the teenage Korean. Notice that the confessional screen is virtually identical to the screen where Thao is locked in.

@@shandoratthecinema4098 There is another Western from the early 1960s called " The Unforgiven ". it's worth the price of admission. It also features Audie Murphy.

Just realized when the priest is talking about ending the gang his face is half in the dark. And he's really cold about it. Awesome moment.

Yes, the parting soundtrack was written & performed by Eastwood & Jamie Cullen. Most people don’t know that Eastwood was also a published songwriter.

Fun fact, all the Hmong were actual Hmong people, only one of them actually had any prior acting experience before being in this movie. Clint Eastwood didn't want Chinese or Japanese people pretending to be Hmong.
Even funnier that grandmother who hated Walt actually had a huge crush on Clint Eastwood

As a side note, you asked why those dudes kept insisting on Thao joining their gang. The answer is gangs are often looking for young, naive kids to join their gang so they can be crash dummies, ie: commit crimes for the gang, for the others' own advantage, and put the weight on the kids to go to jail for them under some false auspice they feed to them that being in one supercedes family or common sense.

    Shandor,
I watched you for the first time with this reaction. Then I watched your Hitchcock reactions, and I must say: You are one of the smartest, most observant, and keen, reaction hosts on YT. I've never watched anyone with whom I agree more, nor felt a more brotherly kinship with than yourself. Basically, you are an intelligent guy with a great heart. You reacted about the same way I did the first time watching this awesome movie...and I thought: "I really like this Shandor dude" and let's see what else he has watched.
I'm a massive Hitchcock fan, so naturally I watched your reactions to those movies as well. I wasn't disappointed. Your keen insights and again, heart, came blazing through. Hitchcock is one of THE very best movie makers ever. I ADORE most of his many works and I hope that you delve further into them...I will be eager to watch your reactions to the master.
Gran Torino will forever be on my personal top 10 movie list, along with several AH movies, and so forth. I am so glad I came across your channel, man. Peace and enlightenment to you

Clint Eastwood is such a talented director and until now I didn't know he'd directed so many movies. One of my favorites is Mystic River, with Sean Penn, Tim Robbins, and Kevin Bacon. Dennis Lehane wrote the novel and several of his stories have been made into movies that are worth a watch, too: Shutter Island; Gone Baby Gone; and The Drop.
Space Cowboys is another Clint Eastwood movie (director and star) that I highly recommend. It's much lighter than Mystic River. 🖖🏽

I've seen the movie multiple times it's one of my favorites and to be honest a lot of Clint Eastwood's works are really well liked in my opinion but this is his magnum opus My interpretation of the ending of the movie is that he went out by firing squad because that is what he believed he deserved for the death of that individual and it served a purpose for saving tao and he was going to die anyway

    1. Sue and Yum Yum are a couple of little cuties.😍😍
    2. With a family like that it's no wonder Walt befriends the Hmong family.
    3. The guy Trey with Sue is played by Scott Eastwood. Clint's son.
    4. Many Asian cultures prohibit touching someone on the head. Another "Don't Do" in Thailand is point your toes at someone.
    5. My surrogate father had that collection of tools. 😎 He didn't have all the tools in the world. Just the ones he needed.
    6. Guys don't normally talk to each other like that unless they're very close (or drunk)🙄
    7. Walt does have a death wish. He's sick and going to die anyway. He's a hero again🦾
He got rid of the thugs and donated the house to the church😇😇
