Compared to other brawl like games I feel that this game with all its variety in its characters and movesets definitely is an instant favorite. Can't wait to see more ultra instinct shaggy gameplay.
It's a little bland with moves and they don't have any impact at all. They need to have more overall impact in the moves they do so it's not so floaty. Only thing drawing people to this game is the character roster really lol

This game will definitely draw more people in. Not a lot of people care for random video game characters. Meanwhile these are characters our generation, and the generation before us, are familiar with. I guarantee you could show the roaster to a stranger and they’d know every character. You can’t do that with smash

It has potential, but sadly we just have to wait and see. That being said, while it probably won't be towering over smash, but its most likely gonna leave Nickelodeon's attempt under the sewers, especially considering the difference in the level of polish thats already evident so early on.

One advantage for Multiverse is it being multi-platform. There's also a good chance that every single kid who doesn't own a switch will want Multiverse as well. I think it'll do well in the casual market. It'll never replace Smash competitively, but it can certainly give Smash a run for its money in the sales department.
I don't know, I think it has a fighting chance. The character roster, fantastic online functionality and the fact that it's completely free on multiple platforms is a big deal. It'll never replace Smash, but it does have a lot of things Smash doesn't.

It's actually a really long list, but from what I found, it includes but is not limited to: -Cartoon Network shows -Adult Swim shows -JoJo's Bizarre Adventure -Mob Psycho 100 -DC -A Nightmare on Elm Street -Harry Potter -Game of Thrones This is a super short list (and who knows what video game rights they actually can obtain), but the potential roster is nearly limitless. The hype is real for that full release.

The issue for smash for me is A: playing on a Nintendo console and B: anytime they release new characters I don’t feel as if they’re different enough from the basic cast. With multiversus I actually feel like characters differ and have unique abilities. Also helps that I grew up watching a lot of the shows featured

For what it's worth, this is a closed alpha. Once there's a sizeable playerbase, that could easily change. That said, I would expect it not to. Not because the show is bad, as I can't comment on that due to having not watched the show, but the SU fanbase is regarded as among the worst fanbases on the internet for lots of reasons, and many of them wouldn't really be the sort who would actually learn to play the game and would instead be more the sort to get mad at the game for them not knowing how to play it.

Super Smash Bros. has a very distinct design, and it had a linchpin on the genre for a long time, afaik.
