It's a parody of hard modes on other games - most have some serious stuff thrown into the story, if any changes, but Undertale didn't take any of that seriously. This is a *good* hard mode boss fight. It's cool, it's hard without being frustratingly hard, and it doesn't take itself too seriously just because it's genocide.
