- Now Playing Nationwide
Set on an island off the coast of New England in the summer of 1965, MOONRISE KINGDOM tells the story of two twelve-year-olds who fall in love, make a secret pact, and run away together into the wilderness. As various authorities try to hunt them down, a violent storm is brewing off-shore -- and the peaceful island community is turned upside down in more ways than anyone can handle. Bruce Willis plays the local sheriff. Edward Norton is a Khaki Scout troop leader. Bill Murray and Frances McDormand portray the young girl's parents. The cast also includes Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, and Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward as the boy and girl. - Фільми й анімація
This movie is so freaking beautiful. Just so visually appealing.
I love the laugh at the end.
I think the point he was making is that as a child, we feel as if our first crush is the strongest love anyone has ever felt, we hear the word cooties and assume it's a crippling disease, and in general take everything very seriously even though a lot of that stuff seems so childish looking back on it all. The stuff in the chapel scene makes it seem overly dramatic and silly, but the characters might not see it as ironic like we do because we're "mature".
This film is the most charming thing in existence
I actually checked this movie out from my local library (dvd) so glad I did, fantastic movie!
Did you steal it?
I saw Moonrise Kingdom this afternoon. I'm italian and the movie arrived in the italian cinema just in this week. So beautiful, I loved it. Now It's one of my favourite one.
Have you noticed: jus one scene in slow motion. It' a record for Anderson!
It’s gets better with every watch. Def one of Wes Anderson’s best movies
Her face right at the end... Somebody's about to get slapped. THIS FILM IS A MASTERPIECE
she looks like a mini lana del rey
Wes Anderson's films are just so interesting, you just cant look away when you see them. My favorite of his is Fantastic Mr. Fox, it may not be touching like Moonrise but its just too funny.
Never laugh at a girl who knows how to use scissors as a weapon

I have such a love/hate opinion of Wes Anderson/I love his use of framing, the beautifully composed master shots, his choice of music (I played the Darjeeling Limited soundtrack continuously on my CD player). But on the other side is the hollowness at the center of his stories and characters that are smetimes too quirky for their own good , certain moments that even he kind of makes fun of (the slo-mo walks), but there just enough for me to enjoy them. He needs a book to adapt with a substance.
He focuses more on what we think are mundane and not deep-on the subtleties.
