Those 460’s are expensive to work on ,air bag suspension is over $4000.00. Just telling it like it is but yes they are nice but when they get older they get pricey quick . LS460 I wouldn’t say is a million mile motor. I WOULD say the LS430, and LS400 are. Actually there’s already a few LS400s with a million miles on them. I owned an 08 LS460, bought with 108k miles and sold with 207k. It was a wonderful car drove so insanely nice, took lots of roadtrips in it. It burned some oil, and had issue with sticky dash, but that was it. The older LSs were a little bit higher quality. Also the VSC system is only lit up because of the CEL. I also own an ES330 with 354k miles, and a GS430, an IS300 sport cross, and an SC430. And a Land Cruiser with 315k
Hi mate. The press button for trunk in glove box is to lock people out from using the key. You pressed it twice. Try pressing it just once and it should have released the trunk so it was unlocked for key access.
Just so you know with Toyota and Lexus the reason for the VSC and error code is because of the engine misfire and check engine light. Once you fix the misfire that error will go away.
These are generally known to be one of the more unreliable Lexus models ever made, especially the first three years, of which 2007 was the very first year. But keep in mind, it's a Lexus, so despite the shortcomings, it will still last, but it the LS460 was really the first model that takes a lot of money to keep running. Many consider the LS430 to be the "last good" LS. Myself included. But I've had three LS430's and an LS460, so I'm happy to answer any questions you have about this one!
I'm thinking with the 460 ( just like my daughters GX460, the 4.6 requires you to keep on top of the cooling system.. be it leaks, or simply keeping the coolant fresh every 80k miles or so.
@@lydellleopold5884 Coolant valley plate leak (all UR engines suffer from this at some point) and premature suspension wear. The 07-08 suffered from a brake booster problem as well. All of which cost a fortune to replace and greatly outweigh the lack of a timing belt replacement.
Got the same car for years. Nothing comes close to it. Things to look out for: - sticky dash and door cards (dealers had a free replacement program - the mark levinson amplifier is known to die. there are species who can fix it - front control arms (4 on each side) are known to fail every 100k miles - the one that hurts the most is the brake actuator. Dies at 100k ish , is 3,000$+ to replace. Other than that, it’s a bullet proof car

May be something hidden in that trunk . Was cleaning a house that bought and I couldn't get the furnace lid off . Found a small srcew that was in the side holding the lid on . I remove it and found $1300.00 in change ! Check that trunk !
Check the glove box for the valet button for the trunk. I must’ve hit mine with the owners manual and locked myself out the trunk for about 10 minutes before I thought to check the glove box

You got a very good deal on that thing I would say my wife drive a 2004 Lexus LS 430. We’ve had it a couple years now and that thing is pretty much trouble free. We just made a trip from Ohio down to Tennessee last week over 1000 miles round-trip averaging almost 24 miles per gallon.

The only reason I didn't buy a 2009 ls460 years ago was that the used car dealer at Ford told me how expensive the up keep could be on this car. I bought a pebble beach 2009es with 60,000 miles and has been trouble free, but I did have to buy a coverlay dash cover because of melting dash issues. The coverlay dash cover is a blessing and looks like the original dash,$369 . Lexus are great cars also have a 2015 350rx with 45,000 miles and will drive it for many years.
For the Cobra, you could use white vinegar and isopropyl alcohol to clean any electrical/electronic parts. Vinegar to break any corrosion down and the alcohol to rinse the vinegar off.
The LS 460 is and can be a million mile engine and car but it’s not without maintenance obviously, these engines do have certain things that usually need addressed and it can be costly or labor intensive, but I love them
Very nice car. The audio system is a Mark Levinson Reference Surround sound system with 19 speakers. It has an automatic sound levelizer that can raise or lower the volume depending on out side noise interface. It can also decode 5.1 and 7.1 formats. Awesome find

The VSC may be tied into the bad brake's issues with the car. There is a button i forget where, but you hold it for 3 seconds to turn traction control on or off. these are great cars when sorted out, hard to find with low miles because they are decently reliable even high mileage clean ones around my area are $6k+
As someone who has been dealing with misfire on my toyota it's definitely something to do with your spark plugs or coil packs, once you fix that it should be good

Check the intake manifold gasket before you go overboard. They fail regularly and often show up as mis-firing cylinders. Especially if compression tests are normal and there are no signs of oil in the cylinders.
My wife put 200k on our LS430. That VCS light would come on and it had something to do with the stability control. Once that light came on the engine seemed to go into a limp mode.
Please keep us updated on if and when you want to sell the Lexus. I would put a bid or two on it. An unresponsive trunk lock actuator can also be caused by a faulty trunk lock relay 🤷🏻♂️
Randy, when you run down the passenger side, look at the rear fender VS the passenger doors, looks like they had an accident of some sort & the doors, maybe even everything forward that rear fender's been painted, play this vid back on your big screen & you'll see it, I'm blind as a bat, but haven't lost my eye for those lil details like that
The trunk may be opened with the key, be sure that the trunk lock is not on. You can turn it on so the electronic button doesn’t work you have to manually use the key purposely

Change oil filters brake pads and fluid, and the timing belt, power steering fluid and the suspension air bags with the pump you can sell that one for almost 20,000$
Not issues, but normal wear and tear yes. They will need to be replaced eventually. I just did them on my GS430. , about $900. I sold my LS460, never had to do them, had that car for 100k miles , sold it with 200k

Realistically it's more of a 500k mile engine but even still, that's strong longevity.

All modern Toyotas disable VSC when there is a MIL on. Fix the misfire, reset all modules, and VSC should clear too.

I was thinking that maybe the trunk was set to valet mode, but since you used the key and it still didn't work, you may another problem.

You should be able to open the trunk from the fold down rear seats (if equipped) .Should be a safety pull tab in there to release the trunk.

Lift the trunk lid with all your might when turning the key. The trunk struts may have gone bad. These trunk lids are extremely heavy.

Push the valet button in the glove box. Trunk won't open in valet mode or with the valet key. Or flip open the fob to use the master key.

Not issues, but normal wear and tear yes. They will need to be replaced eventually. I just did them on my GS430. , about $900. I sold my LS460, never had to do them, had that car for 100k miles , sold it with 200k
@@805NAVE No there are definite control arm issues on this version of the LS. There are many video here on the subject. About a four thousand dollar repair at the dealer.
These car can last up to 400 thousand miles and then some.
This is the worse time of the year for car/deer accidents. We have had at least 100 so far this year at the shop I work for in Michigan...

Randy idk if you know this, but some lexus’s have a trunk shut off switch that’s in the glove box area. Not sure if yours has it but mine does. Just thought i would share, as i thought my trunk didn’t work either! 😊

Fix the check engine light and you'll fix the VSC light most likely, I know it's kind of a weird thing but that's the way Toyota and some gm vehicles are.
