Now imagine watching this in a drive-in theater with the top down and the wind picks up and it starts raining ... I had the full 4DX experience of this movie before that was even a thing! Glad you enjoyed the movie!

I live in Iowa and have been through many tornadoes. I watch this movie at least once a year. Yes the wind sounds like that - it feels like a freight train and sounds like a lion. Jo was a childhood hero of mine. Storm chasers are adrenaline junkies - they love it! I am not exaggerating how much storm chasers love their job - you would have to to risk your life. Bill and Melissa aren't married yet. Most of the tornado scenes as far as what it picks up and destroys is pretty realistic. A lot of the time the animals will know storms are coming before radar- cows and horses will group up in a bunch and found protected ground. ALWAYS listen the what animals are telling you. Tornadoes can totally sneak up on you! Melissa is actually a really nice person/character. YES mile-wide tornadoes are becoming more and more common. The fact the tornado doesn't take the house doesn't really say anything about the tornadoes strength - I've seen one house in the middle of neighborhood taken and the opposite of an entire neighborhood gone except one house... it is crazy what tornadoes will do.

32:16 The largest tornado ever recorded was about 2.6 miles wide (May 31st 2013 near the town of El Reno, Oklahoma) so yes, a mile wide tornado is more than just possible! ;)

I was also in the eye of Irma in SW FL. Crazy experience. we took our dogs out to go to the bathroom and everything and it was like being in a cage of storm. Just walls of rain and clouds in every direction but blue skies above us.

"Car guy" checking in..Jo's original yellow truck is a "Full Size Jeep" from the '70s. Absolute beasts. I grew up on the NC Outer Banks, me and my dad bought a ''77 "Cherokee" (same frame, 2-door station wagon body) to go drive on the beach (was legal back then). Was "Quadratrack" (an early version of automatic 4WD), I burned up the transfer case towing my SCCA race car with it. Jeeps didn't like being used only on pavement back then. I actually kinda teared up when it happened - I knew it was my fault.
I still tell my fellow vintage car fans not to ever agree to let their cars/trucks be used in film (there's a lot of production here in Atlanta these days). Our "treasures" are just another damn prop to them! Maybe I should say 'to us' about props..my career was TV before I retired. 🤣
Melissa was played by Jami Gertz, I think her 'breakout role' was in the '80s "Lost Boys" vampire movie. Was actually stoked that they didn't make her a 'villain' in this thing. And again, RIP Bill Paxton and Phillip Seymore Hoffman.

Thats so awesome the truck was a focal point for me! Also i didnt know bill paxton had also passed away! I just saw Aliens and he was in it! RIP to both great actors

@@RebelMedia66 , yeah. Paxton passed in '17. Had a stroke not long after heart valve surgery. He was only 61yrs old! He was amazing in "Aliens", but this is still my favorite role. Strange thing about this film for me..like I mentioned, I'm a 'car guy'. Specifically sportscars. Before I raced, I was a Corner Marshal (flags, communications, and back then, safety responder). Thrill seekers of a not-so-different sort, I suppose.
Whenever I miss the 'old gang', I don't watch racing. I watch "Twister". I can place the name of a real person on every personality type in the script. "Bill Harding" was my Chief of Specialty, "Jo Harding" was his wife. We would have followed them to the 'gates of hell'. "Dusty" was our own guy who was 'really out there'..in 1990 he dragged me to the 24hr race in Daytona - in his work van. His job then was collecting coin boxes from laundromats, we went to the race with $15,000 of quarters in the safe - and his handgun under the driver's seat! 😆
I'm actually "Rabbit" - take care of your tools so you can trust what they say, trust your training, and trust your people.
      "Roll the maps."

@@RebelMedia66 , glad you enjoyed it! I hate it that my comments are the length of a novel sometimes, but words tell stories, too.
EDIT: More Paxton trivia - Bill played the 'punk rock' kid that Schwarzenegger stole his clothing from in the opening scenes of "The Terminator" (1984). Yeah, the two actors are very different sizes..but 'Movies are Magic!" 🤣

Melissa is out there but she's married to a billionaire with a B not one of those poor people M's. In fact she was pretty much a stay at home mom when this movie came out. A few years ago she did a TV series also. But she only works when she wants to. She's best known for The Lost Boys before she got married. Very good movie.
