Use of strobes during takeoff at night is standard - they are usually turned on upon entering the active runway. This is very important as it helps the aircraft become more visible in a sea of static lights.
Paul's Trip Reports he paul, liked your recent video towards Brussels, I watch all your vids :)
May I add, it’s done at day- and nighttime even when just crossing an inactive runway. :)
Thx, Paul. Nice to read your comment here :-). Of course, I am not a pilot, but I have taken dozens of night flights with takeoff in the dark, and I never noticed this before (I am always seated with a good view of the engine). I always note that during takeoff the landing lights are on, not the strobes. I am not an aviation expert of course, but I read that strobes should not be turned on the ground due to the fact that they can cause temporary blindness. Just puzzled.
The Strobes are not turned on during taxi but the moment you enter on a live runway or airborne the strobes need to be turned on so that other planes can see you. especially at night and during bad weather and or visibility. There has been an accident in the USA as a smaller commuter plane was on the active but did not have the strobes on, the incoming plane that was on final for that runway and did not see the plane due to this and crashed into them when they landed. by the time they noticed them it was to late. There were other factors as well for this crash but this was one of them.
This is a great video by a real pilot about all the lights on a plane ua-cam.com/video/A1eqrunJuc0/v-deo.htmlm56s @Captain Joe
the Luxury Travel Expert I know On many airbus aircraft, there is an “auto” setting for strobes. This means that once the aircraft leaves the ground, the strobes will come on and once it touches down again, it will turn off. Some airlines do this with their aircraft, namely American Airlines. However, many other airlines turn on strobes as long as they are on an active runway (see delta, JetBlue, alitalia to name a few)
Your videos are my quarantine therapy, I can’t wait to travel again when this nightmare Coronavirus is over! Stay safe and thanks 🙏🏼
Time for the next nightmare. Global warming. But it’s ok. You need your traveling.
@@atzimtzum lol
Again a very nice video and good service of Lufthansa - thank you!
Flying into the Maldives is and will always be stunning.
And looks a little tricky to us. 🙄
737 pilot here, our company procedure when entering an active runway is turning on the strobes amongst few other things 😉 (day or night)
As Paul said use of Strobe lights when entering an active run way is standard and the switch is mostly in auto position and the strobes come on after lift off. Actually these pilots did the correct procedure :)
I retired at the end of 2017 and spend much of my time travelling now. Every time I come home however, I catch up on your videos and it is almost like I am on holiday again. Well done, and keep them coming!
Another fantastic trip report. I especially liked the sight of your aircraft on the runway as passengers disembarked. I love the A330. Thanks for sharing. The Maldives look fantastic, as does LUFTHANSA.
Always a breath of fresh air watching your travel vids, especially since covid struck. Whenever I'm in need of a travel fix, I sit back, que your vids, and enjoy the in flight service. 🛫
I love the flight map too. I will travel GRU to Male in feb, 12.......very very excited.
Wow. What a beautiful place to visit. The food on this Lufthansa flight was one of the best I've seen from them. Great video!
I love your videos. You are one of the very few reviewers who dont annoy, like that guy Sam Chui. Please continue with your videos, you do get work done.
Anshuman Agarwal yes!! I totally agree
Anshuman Agarwal yes Sam Chui is very annoying. Can't stand his dorky videos
I'll continue the way I am doing it. I have considered showing myself in my clips but it wouldn't have any added valued, since I want my clips to be about the travel experience, not about myself. And above all, I prefer the discrete lifestyle :)
I so agree with you. I also wanted to ask you, how do you afford to travel like this. Also can you explore some of the airlines which are not so out there. Like I have heard some of the smaller carriers offer great service!!!! Like FinnAir!!!
Dude Sam Chui flirts with the flight attendants and creeps them out! and his lame jokes get to my nerves...........
the dramatic soundtrack is one of my favourite part!!
I think the lounge looked amazing and for a variety of food they offer the wraps look delicious 🤤
OMG, your last drone clips of the resort are like commercials; thank you for a beautiful video
Dang. It's late at night, after a long day at work and a cocktail. I love the music you choose, normally, but it made me nod off tonight. Now I have a sore neck, and have to rewind to see what I missed. It will probably be a wash, rinse, repeat all night long. I just love your videos.
From my personal experience....flying with Lufthansa is very beautiful and make the flying experience very special
as you : the flight map !!! I just love your videos : very well done ! each time we trully are onboard with your. thank you ! :)
Loving the drone footage you’ve been adding 👍🏻👍🏻
German punctuality is remarkable! I found it very strange to come back to Brazil after spending a week in Kiel!
Except the Deutsche Bahn. Shouldn't even be called "Deutsch" :D Greetings from Germany to Brazil.
I really like your new style of videos in which everything feels like I'm travelling on your shoulder. The music is peaceful. It's sets the right mood and I truly enjoy watching the entire video. The fact that you don't speak anymore makes the video feel like I'm experiencing this firsthand. You managed to outdone all the other flight and travel bloggers I follow. The flight video back from Maldives to the airport is perfect. Perfect destination, perfect video and perfect editing. I now can't wait for your next posts :)
Thank you so much for your kind words. I truly appreciate it. I want my clips to be about the travel experience itself, not about me :-)
Please excuse the: "you don't talk anymore" statement. I was confused with (inflightexpert) videos.
As some others already said, i can confirm that strobes on take off are standard procedure
I like the blue, grey and yellow/orange color scheme Lufthansa have in the interior design.
Just another fantastic trip report from the great @paulstewart
I always imagine myself in that seat. It really gives me something to dream about. Hope to one day fly like you!!!
Loved this video! Amazing value, hustling!
This is a very simple, depth video my friend with great music from lounge to landing, and will be traveling LH from FRA this summer on the 343 Business 12 seat aircraft to ADD which I'm looking fwd to. JJ30
Wow that turning drone shot at the end was unreal!
Thank you! You are the first to comment on that scene ;)
Great video mate! Looking forward to more tripreports.
You make the best travel videos with nice background music 👍🏼
Thank you 😊
Hi LTE,
Awesome video, really enjoyed it! Looks like you had a good red-eye flight over to the Maldives :)
Not a big fan of the 2-2-2 lay-out, but the food looks pretty good!
What a great feeling to be landing in paradise knowing about all the great hotels you will be visiting!
Brendan
Love your videos. Strobe lights are usual for take off & landings :)
Can‘t wait to fly by Lufthansa on my Business Flight to the Maledives on saturday. Thank you for this informative video. :-)
Geweldige video, dankjewel !👍
Love this video amazing
Enjoyed your review. Thanks!
watching this as i eat my subway dinner
I'd rather have a subway sandwich over that dinner selection in business class. I like to splurge when on vacation. That means for breakfast, I want pancakes, scrambled eggs, hash brown potatoes, real ham or steak, not cheese and something that barely resembled ham.
amazing work as always
Thanks for the sharing! Great video!
Another enjoyable video.
Love this, I’m the guy in 1B!
I love soneva they are amazing I stayed with them in all 4 properties
Enjoy these islands while you can and document their features. Like many islands in Oceania, they are eroding away already.
My favourite place to go.There isn't other place like Maldives
continue with your great work
Yes, like you...When I fly Business Class I like the smaller sections of Business Class. I love the 777s front section of Business Class and on the 747 as well the front section of Business is very nice and calm for me..
Nice video. My favourite feature is also definitely the flight map. 🙂
u r the best
Great video, thank you! You’re so lucky to have a travel companion. I travel by myself most of the time but I work for an airline and it’s free so I shouldn’t complain. 😂
For me, traveling is all about sharing places and emotions with loved ones. While I sometimes travel just by myself, I don't like it that much ;-)
Very nice , thank you for next flight-video :-) You have sense for detail and now I have better day :-) World is really beautiful.
Funny, you are flying with the german book author Benjamin von Stuckrad-Barre (11:00)
jaaaa...hab ihn auch direkt erkannt!
your videos are very inspiring
The song at the begin made me sad and happy at the same time
im an anxious flyer too and all I can do to get through a flight is sleep haha different things work for everyone :)
Strobe lights are used at all phases of flight except for taxi to and from the runway/gates.
Using strobe lights on takeoff is frequent from my experience and they 'should' be used from the point of entering a runway to the point if exit just to i crease visibility.
05:43 I can never understand why would anyone want to take off their shoes and put it in the overhead bin.
Amazing
5:47 that us :) I had no idea you were on our flight. Love your videos, always watch them. We're the couple in front with the baby.
What a coincidence, Jeroen! I remember you guys, you were speaking English and Dutch like (like me). I hope you enjoyed your stay in the Maldives! What resort did you stay at? Kind regards
We had a great time. We stayed at Constance Moofushi :)
That's a superb resort indeed. Glad to have met you here. I just watched your heli ski trip (awesome!). I wish you safe travels.
Lovely video! I could still kick myself for not going to Male for a couple of days when I went to Columbo, Sri Lanka back in August 2016.
Standard operation procedure is: Strobes are used day and night in flight and (only) when entering or crossing a runway. When flying through clouds at night, they could be temporarily switched off due to the reflection into the cockpit.
Strobe Lights must be switched-on once aircraft entering active runway, then during take off and during flight until landing, and then switched-off once aircraft cleared of all runways (entering taxi way) into the parking stand. So it is not accidentally switched-on, you might just need more flights to do and get upper-wing seat.
Including ONE single breath mint is the cheapest move in aviation history haha
Top 👍👌
Strobe lights are always turned on at night, and are usually on after entering the active runway. On smaller aircraft as in the General Aviation the Storbes are on right before entering the runway and stay on until exiting.
ótimo nota 10!
You are right, the lounge isn’t very appealing. I visited this lounge on my way to JFK and the only plus is, that you can board the aircraft directly from the lounge. I found the seats quiet comfortable and I enjoyed it. I didn’t sleep on both flights, because the flight time was just too short. I agree with you that the 2-2-2 config is a downer. It simply lacks of privacy. As LH will launch it’s new Business Class in 2020 starting with the 777-X9, I do hope they will retrofit at least our Flagships, the A350 and A 380 as well as the 747-8. unfortunately I don’t know yet. Our company keeps it as a secret for the time being.
I cannot wait to try out Lufthansa's new 777 Business Class product
That was no accident, strobe lights are always turned on once you enter the runway and remain on until you exit the runway at your destination.
wow like this video 👍
Use of Strobe lights on runways is mandatory - while taking off of or crossing a runway .
I thinks people should be exited whit your video and when your video came out I’m exited
Your videos are great! Keep it up!
I really like your videos. Btw, are you German?
LUFTHANSA ❤️
I am sorry but your behaviour at @23:00 is very selfish.
The flight attendants normally put the shades down to ensure, all passengers in the compartment can sleep. It takes just one passenger -like you did - to wake up the whole compartment. Maybe you did not mention that before, but please: keep it in mind for future flights!
BBXBLOXX Maybe not every passenger wants to sleep!! Why should i have to sit with no view just because you want to close your eyes.
Great video, you love a stripey pair of socks though! 😂
Eveytime let's see the seat lie flat out, the stripey socks appear!
A red eye flight is one that leaves on or around midnight and tends to land 5-7 hours later. The concept being that you land at daybreak with little rest, therefore you suffer from red eye. Leaving at 7-9pm makes it an overnight flight
Strobes are usually lit at night right after receiving take off clearance to augment aircraft's visibility from others a/c
your socks are awesome!
Strobes are turned on from the moment an aircraft turns it engines on to the moment it turns the engines off (they are also an indication to the ground staff not to approach the aircraft), Night and day actually. They are less (or not at all) visible from the cabin on certain type of aircraft . Most of the time the flashing is visible from the cabin only when only reflecting on the ground or in the clouds.
More videos to come!
When I travel I use the lounges and enjoy the hot food section and the drinks section. Would suggest you to show little more of the hot dishes and drinks
I am waiting for next .
On most aircraft, light switches are integrated. Strobes might go with the rotating beacon, for example, two things that you should always have on, day or night after engine start. Landing lights go on after the taxi lights and recognition lights are turned off as part of the pre- take-off checks: Flaps - Check, Landing lights - on. After take-off, systems to deactivate: Breaks, undercarriage - up, fuel, flaps - up, Landing lights - off. After take-offs complete. Sometimes, the flight rules for that area might require you to keep your landing lights on throughout the whole sector for safety purposes.
Thank you! You must be a pilot, no? :)
More details on the lounges food would be nice (like you did on this video)
😜
Five star coverage
Good to see you return to Maldives. Are you going to stay at the same hotel you last visited?
Lufthansa es una muy buena compañía de aviación.
When the aircraft becomes a moving piece ( pushback and/ or engines roll and so on) its turned on the beacon light (red light,on the fusalage)and navigation is already on (tip of wings, and or the back, white)red in the left, green in the right)then taxi lights, When you receive the line up or cleared for take off you turn on the landing and stroble. The light over the turbine is not the ( landing lights ).Turned on in every night climb to observe any failure on the engines during the climbing . The landing and inspection( turbines) lights are turned off when the plane reaches 10.000 feet.
If you ever get the chance to review the ANA Star Wars plane that would be nice! Keep up the great content
The best Lufthansa lounge is at D and E gates which is near the US departures. I am a Lufthansa Senator, however I still prefer the Business lounges sometimes (for a quick food stop).
Btw Lufthansa has gate specific lounges for efficiency so that you can get to your gate fast. They also do an OK job of making sure that the lounges are consistent (as are their seats on every plane).
Curious, why business over senator?
@@jakewarren3703I find the business lounges to be better stocked and have more food options. The senator lounge is more of an empty, quiet place to sit and work as less food options. Since the Business lounges are more crowed and more traffic, they have more food variety
Strobe lights are used day and night on the runway, when you taxi off the runway they turn them off.
I went to maldives like 1-2 weeks ago but it was only economy luckily there was enoungh foot rests and the food was very good
How was the snorkelling? Are the reefs dying?
@@elizabethmcleod246 where i was there were not realy many reefs
Me parece a mí o ese es un vuelo súper silencioso ?
It seems to me or is that a super silent flight ?
Hey. I love your reviews. It would be nice to see a review of more African Airlines on international routes e.g Kenya Airways on Amsterdam-Nairobi/Paris- Nairobi/London-Nairobi, South African Airways etc.
I can’t believe you’re a nervous flyer when you travel so often! I’m anxious too, do you have any tips?
what was the cost of the tickets?
Looks like the A330 was getting tugged quite fast... well fastest I've ever seen
I love lufthansa... It is a very good flight company... sorry for my bad english i'm italian
I think the center seats are maybe better for solo travelers because they all have direct aisle access. You don't have to clamber over strangers to leave your seat, or have them clamber over you. I know there's a lot of legroom, but that won't help if the seat is reclined or flat. I don't see why they angle the center seats toward each other and the single footrest is unfortunate, but there is a divider so you don''t have to play footsy with your neighbor.
