I never really watched EastEnders but this episode I watched all the way through.
I love the way the way Phil just attacks a big, metal locked gate, thinking he can get through. 'I'm gonna to kill ya.'
I am from America, and I have seen EastEnders (by way of PBS stations in New York where I lived). And I have to admit, EastEnders is 1000% better than some of the shows that are on here in the states. It's another thing the UK does well. This show is realistic, and you get the realism easily. Shows like Coronation Street, Emmerdale and EastEnders are so realistic and that is what makes it successful. Kudos to the UK for this fabulous show!

You know what's so sad. Phil never learned the meaning of the Mantra "We Become What We Attract", we attract bad people we become bad. Also, Phil mistook his so called gratitude for love. Now he's with Stella who betrayed his Brother Grant by having an affair who is going to betray him with Keanu.

@LAWMANrackofribs You spoke it well, and with such wonderful eloquence. :) I have seen EastEnders, and I have to admit, I am more than impressed with how realistic it is, and the way the characters are those one can relate to. Give me a show like EastEnders any day. In a lot of ways, I would rather be able to relate to the Mitchell family than to relate to a wealthier family any day of the week. Well said! And I am an American who prefers EastEnders!

She was mentally ill. Eastenders took the sensational option by writing her a straight up villain. Which was totally irresponsible. There are children out there with mental issues who will become abusers themselves if these issues are not faced with. It's a vicious cycle and this soap opera just wants you to bay for blood. Pretty sick society if you ask me that wants no questions asked and thinks if someone is bumped off, the issue is at an end.

@Stryker14X Actually, Eastenders is a good example of 'realism' in theatre terms - a microcosm of people's lives all compacted down. What you're referring to is 'naturalism', an example of this would be something like 'The Office'. Eastenders isn't supposed to be realism, that's not what soap operas are about.
