    "The only person standing in your way is you."
    Fun Fact: The script took around ten years to make it to the screen.
    Real Dancing Fact: Both Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman have praised choreographer Benjamin Millepied for altering the choreography enough to allow them to do most of their own dancing and to help them appear like professionals.
    Good Friemenies Fact: Natalie Portman revealed that director Darren Aronofsky would subtly try to pit her and Mila Kunis against each other during filming in an attempt to increase the on-screen tension between their characters. This included keeping the two actresses separated during filming and sending each of them intimidating text messages about each others performance that day. However, according to Kunis, this backfired; because they were already good friends before filming, whenever they would get wind that the other one was doing really well, they would respond in congratulatory support, not rivalry.

Over time as more traumatic things happen to her while preparing for the role, it gets worse & eventually it consumes her. • @lloydtxw
      @lloydtxw Рік тому +8

      They counted the shots, they say the majority of them are Natalie. The harder pointe stuff was Sarah. 35 full body shots, 23 were Sarah. Every other dance shot was Natalie. I think they’re just arguing over what constitutes a dance shot. Sarah says only the foot work counts, the production says it all counts and the simpler pointe work was Natalie. I think Sarah signed a bad contract and didn’t take enough credit. But they can both be right. She did the hard stuff but the majority of what they used in the film wasn’t the shots of hard stuff, that was only about 20% including two with Sarah’s face replaced, the rest was arms, face and simple foot work by the actor.

    When I first saw this film, I had read an interpretation that it was about the protagonist having a mental breakdown after being sexually abused by her mother her entire life. Only later on did I hear other takes on this film, and that one is still the one that makes the most sense to me.

    • @LaFlor718
      @LaFlor718 Рік тому +26

      That actually makes the most sense. I definitely thought that the mother infantalized her and engaged in very inappropriate behavior, but I could never figure out if the mother toed that line of sexual abuse or fully crossed that line. Both are absolutely horrible though. But that sense of disassociation N. Portman had throughout the entire movie is indicative of abuse of a sexual nature. And she seemed so confused by her own desires through the whole run time.

    you can be a ballet dancer no matter what your size is, the skill and talent has nothing to do with weight. but the ballet industry has a long history and still very prominent beauty expectations for the ballet dancers bc of the beginning of ballet dancers in france also being used by powerful men and just general french beauty standards. but WEIGHT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH BALLET ABILITY!!
    alot of ballet dancers sadly end up having ED’s due to this prominent beauty expectation. but i think the industry atleast in the US is being bit more inclusive. although slowly.

    For some reason, my favorite line and also line favorite delivery in this film is, "Was I good?!" Black Swan instantly asking the only thing that matters.

    "Does this mother not know what privacy is?"
    That lady don't know the meaning of the word. That and 'keep your hands to yourself.' The mother and Vincent need court ordered classes in respecting boundaries.

    I don’t comment enough but hunnnny, you are just fine, no ugly! I love your reaction to this one because I feel like I went through all of the same emotions and thoughts as you, love this movie. I kinda really want to see you review May and Stoker. I have others I can’t remember now, but that just means I’ll have to watch more vids and comment later!

    The point of the movie is that she drives herself so hard that she actually starts seeing Mila Kunis' character, who was never really there. The really sad part about this film is that the actresses had to restrict their diets to an unhealthy level and it made them miserable.

    Vincent Cassel is a French treasure and a damn fine actor!
    I'm very excited for the upcoming version of The Three Musketeers with him and Eva Green 😍
    Definitely check out Vincent in Brotherhood of the Wolf. You will not be disappointed by additional man candy Mark Dacascos 😉

    LOL „the score“ BABES the soundtrack is just the original Swan Lake Ballet from like 1875. The story of the Swan Queen is a real and iconic ballet piece. You should look it up sometime
