The way I saw it, you see the photo of him smiling as a burger chef. Margot asking him for something as basic as a cheeseburger reminded him of the joys of cooking and how happy he was as a burger chef. He killed everyone cause they destroyed his love of cooking but she let him enjoy cooking one last time so he let her leave cause he realised she’s not like the others.

basically the cheeseburger represented the last time he ever enjoyed cooking for people, the last time he cooked a meal with love, her asking for that simple, lower/middle class meal, that represents what gave him purpose free'd her. because she was the first person who gave him purpose and drive and passion again, as well as the only one to actually appreciate his cooking and take out the "ruin" from his art, as the rich had put the ruin into his art, causing him to not enjoy cooking anymore. She was also the only one there who didnt deserve to die, since she was the only one of the customers who wasn't rich.

To add a little to this (I agree with everything) I'd like to also point out that what stood out to him was that she was a service worker essentially, just like him and his team. But she wasn't burned out like them. She didn't feel exploited apart from that brief moment that guy asked her to involve her feelings and cross emotional boundaries in a business transaction. She had her integrity, and as she asked him to cook her a cheeseburger, she reminded him of a time when he still had his integrity intact, and that was a gift. She also played within the parameters of his game and he respected that. She didn't belong there not only because she wasn't rich (a taker) but also because she was a giver (service worker) with her individuality intact. He and his team had gradually lost part of themselves in sacrifice of perfection, the cause, loyalty to the chef, you name it. She was just doing her job and then clocking out. She had the balance that was stolen from them.

The reason why Felicity got screwed over by the student loans question is because student loans are infamous in the U.S. It takes YEARS for graduates to pay off their loans. So her saying she doesn't have student loans means she's rich enough to not worry about having to pay it off.

@@readwithpattie4804 As you said, it's not her fault she was born into wealth, but she still chose to steal from John Leguizamo even though she was financially stable. Brown University (where she is from) is still an Ivy League school, *and* she was invited to the restaurant. Margot/Erin was the only guest who wasn't. Her and Leguizamo's reason for being there is because Julian Slowik (for all his somewhat understandable vendettas against the rest of the guests) is petty. Slowik thought he could give Felicity a chance to join his team (because she was Leguizamo's assistant, which made Slowik question if she was part of the working class) right until the student loans question.
Edit: I don't mean to be inflammatory, I'm just trying to explain myself

That’s why and she Margot were the only guest that didn’t have anything on the taco because chef didn’t know much about them. Her stealing from John is not an indication of anything other than she probably might have needed it. She didn’t steal anything big enough to cause a dent in his net worth. Brown is an Ivy League that many underprivileged people are lucky enough to get into, it doesn’t all of a sudden make them privileged. My take on this is that chef killing that girl because of her wealth whilst being oblivious to the fact that she has none is proof that he is the pretentiousness he killed them for

How good is movie tho like such a interesting take on horror thriller with this psychological twist the main actress is phenomenal and is underrated but I think he let her go cause she played the game she realised what his first job was and how happy he was so she played on his emotions and then took it to go as you can at a take away shop so it’s very interesting how she was like I’m gonna use you against yourself

What the chef is talking about is the subtlety of word choice. Do you sleep or slumber? Do you have sex or make love? Do you walk or stroll?
