The scene between Damon and Andy in the bathtub is very important and goes so much deeper than people can realise. Andy was acting like a therapist for Damon here because she was pointing out the exact thing that Damon was trying to deny about himself, the last thing he wanted to hear but he desperately needed to hear. “Maybe it’s who you are now, love does that Damon it changes us” Damon was not just trying to convince himself that he hasn’t changed but he also was trying to make himself believe that even if he’s changing, it’s because he HAS TO because that’s Elena wants him to do and not because he WANTS it too and this is just simply false. “I can’t be what other people want me to be, what she wants me to be, this is who I am Jesica “ “I have to stay and protect her and she wants me to be a better man, which means I can’t be who I am, do you see the problem I’m having Andy?” “You need to stop doing that, assuming I would play the good guy, because it’s you who’s asking” What people need to understand is that no one can change another person unless they themselves want to. Our loved ones could only work as an inspiration but at the end of the day it’s our own choice whether to grow or not. One of the many reasons Damon fell in love with Elena was because Elena reminded him of who he used to be when he was a human, he and Elena shared many qualities and Elena was able to remind Damon of part of him that he himself even forgot it existed So if Damon is changing and if his humanity is coming back it’s because deep down he wants it back and it’s the truth, because he could’ve kept rejecting it and didn’t let himself feel but he chose to let all of his emotions in with all the pain and suffering that comes with it because he knew love makes it worth it. Andy was trying to tell Damon that he has already changed and love has already left its effect on him because love changes us but it only awake us to our true self and make us look at ourselves as a whole and that’s what happened to Damon, he was becoming more and more aware of the part of himself he has kept buried within himself and now that he’s rediscovering himself and he’s coming back to his truth, it is a scary and painful experience considering the trauma he had in the past and he’s not ready to accept the better version of himself that he’s becoming and that’s why the moment Andy pointed out the issue, he told her to stop talking and kiss him to distract himself meaning he still wants to deny it but Andy hit the nail on the head with that one, Damon subconsciously has surrounded himself to his better self, this is the path he has chosen for himself even if he’s consciously not ready to accept it and by not killing Andy, he’s proving her right.
The CW used to preview actors they were thinking about for other shows on shows that had already been airing. It was a mini-audition to see how the audience took to them, how they looked on camera, and how they worked with the team. "Vampire Diaries" (2009) was on air for three years before "Arrow"(2012). In that way, many shows were spun off from these shows, even though they weren't playing the same characters. "Dawson's Creek"(1998) did it with the lead male actor for the show "Roswell" (1999) and the male lead for the show "One Tree Hill (2003), both are great shows btw you guys should react to them. Tyler Kinney (Mason) went on to play "Serveride" of Chicago Fire" Fame (2012) and he also dated Lady Gaga for a while. And you already saw that she was "Rose" before she was "Maggie" on "The Walking Dead" (2010). "Dawson's" and "Vampire Diaries" were the biggest shows on the (WB - CW) at the time and a lot of actors came through on their way to other things, lol.
It's also that the producers on these shows would hire someone up and coming for a guest spot, and then after working with them, would remember them when it came time to cast for another role. Or, a show would have half a season and then get cut due to low ratings, but the producers liked a cast member and found a spot for them on another show already running. The former is how Grant Gustin went from 90210 to being considered for the role of Barry Allen (actually, Stephen was on 90210 between TVD and Arrow, too; or how multiple recurring actors on "The Originals" later ending up on "Legends of Tomorrow"), whereas the latter led to major recurring cast members for this show in S4 and S5 and S8 and... there really is just so much crossover in the CW (and former WB- hence Ian Somerhalder) casting roster. But if the guys have seen Arrow, Spartacus might be a good show for them to watch and look for familiar faces (Amell auditioned for the show in its 3rd season for a major recasting and made it pretty far into the process before another actor was selected... who then also later joined the Arrowverse).
Arrow started airing in 2012 when TVD was starting its 4th season (the pilot was actually aired one day before the first episode of TVD S4). Stephen Amell is arguably most known for that role but he's been in a lot of shows and movies, such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, Code 8 and its sequel (which he also co-produced) with his cousin Robbie Amell, Private Practice, the Lifetime movie Justice for Natalee Holloway (as the real life convicted killer Joran van der Sloot) and Heels, a TV drama about professional wrestling (he himself has wrestled a few times). He stars in the upcoming show Suits L.A. (which is based on another show called Suits). But poor Caroline 💔 Also, this is the first time Tyler being a jerk is kind of understandable. And he did help a little in the end.
Damon was struggling to find the balance between his humanity and his vampire nature in this episode now that he knows his humanity is back, we know that Damon didn’t enjoy killing that girl Jesica and he’s been feeling super guilty for what he’s done ever since. In order to understand this, we have to pay attention to his body language at the beginning of this episode when he was taking a shower, pay attention to his facial expressions, the way he was looking down while frowning and breathing heavily, this is the look of shame and remorse and when he got out of the shower and heard the news about the “missing girl” who he’s damn sure that she’s not missing but he had just killed her was another reminder for him, it’s like someone was shouting out his sin and he suddenly looked away like he was trying not to look at his sin but look the other way. All the evidence is clear and it’s showing us that Damon felt guilty for what he’s done and it’s becoming more and more clear for him that his humanity is back and that’s the reason he didn’t kill Andy in this episode, he has learned his lesson even if it’s a small and subtle growth in his character, it’s still visible, he could’ve killed Andy but he didn’t and just like I said, Damon was trying to find out how to be a functioning vampire while keeping his humanity at the same time, he’s been suppressing his humanity for as long as he remembers, he needs to adjust to his current situation and to his newly awakened humanity.
For me Damon is the MVP of TVD.. He’s Bad,He’s Good,He’s funny,He’s Romantic, All in one.. there are many different sides to his Character,and he is the Most Entertaining..#Damon Salvatore..
Not telling someone something is NOT a lie. Writers need to quit perpetrating this as a fact when in fact it is wrong. The term "lie of omission" is an oxymoron as a lie is something said that you know is not true and usually with intent to deceive or trick. Keeping a known fact from someone is just that, not telling. A lie is an action. A non-action is not a lie. Tyler never asked Caroline if she knew who killed his uncle or if his uncle was dead. He had no reason to ask these questions and Caroline had no reason to tell him what she knew. Caroline was not deceiving him but saving his feelings and learning if she could trust him before even having that conversation if ever.
No, she notably inserted herself into Tyler's life to keep tabs on him after he triggered his werewolf curse. She actively lied and told him she was the only vampire around, doubling down on that last episode when he asked how she knew that a werewolf bite would have killed her. Her reluctance to tell him is understandable, especially given Damon did threaten her over it, and she did offer him a lot of kindness during this time, but he has every right to be angry that while she knew he was distraught over Mason having not called him back to offer advice about the transition, she was keeping it secret that Mason was dead, even if she had done it fully in the interest of protecting him from the danger of challenging Stefan and Damon. Not telling someone something, especially that doesn't concern them or isn't your place to tell them, is not necessarily a lie, but there are situations where it compounds and the person who wasn't told has every right to hold it against the person withholding it.

Nobody comments on the fact that Damon is not only a murderer but also a rapist? What he does in the bathtub with the lady its the same with a guy who gives a lady knockout drops to make her compliant. I always found it a bit disturbing to hype the 2 brothers, especially from female teen fandom.
Not to mention Caroline at the start of series 1. Compulsion is not consent. But I think that's where story telling is important for exploring things that we wouldn't want to happen in real life. I love horror but True Crime genre goes too far. People who confuse fantasy tales with reality and vice versa are really scary to me...and judging by some conventions there's far too many of them.

No. I really trying to understand this perspective...... What would the human equivalent be. I think being covered in blood in any situation is very disturbing. But if a butcher needed to talk to me about slaughter problems I can understand why he would want me to put that aside while we have our conversation. Some lay people feel that getting a diagnosis of diabetes is horrendous. In the scale of someone who lives their life in medicine, EVEYONE has diabetes! Get over it.
