Remembering Bushwacker

- Bushwacker, the bucking bull many consider the greatest of all time, calmly laid down yesterday, closed his eyes and passed away.He was 18 years old and had been enjoying the past decade in retirement on Julio Moreno’s ranch in California. Before that, there was of course a truly legendary PBR Brand of Honor career including three world championships (2011, 2013, 2014), 64 buck offs in 66 outs, and the infamous 42-out buckoff streak finally broken by JB Mauney.
He was a smart-ultracompetitive heavyweight. In fact, Julio compared him to Muhammad Ali. He knew he was the greatest, and strutted around the arena as such.Off the dirt, no bull before or since has received as much attention...or relished it as much. The proud chocolate bovine who never met a camera he didn’t like was a mainstream pop culture superstar - certainly the most popular PBR athlete during his reign.
Newsweek likened him to Michael Jordan. ESPN the Magazine made him the first animal featured in their popular “Body” issue. He transcended our sport. In the arena, Bushwacker was king and he lived that way until the end. He will forever be a symbol of strength, power, determination, raw athleticism and greatness. Rest in Peace, Champ

I always loved how he was the consummate professional! Never played dirty in the chute, never tried to maul a bucked off rider and waited patiently at the gate to leave the arena! A true gladiator and a gentleman to boot! I tip my hat to you, you’re truly the king of beasts!
wow .. his intelligence and patience to use his energy at just the right time .. incredible!
Bummer
The Spanish Vaquero is the foundation of the cowboy 🤠.
@ariyotheapbtservicedogintr6227 the Spanish Vaquero is the foundation of the cowboy 🤠.
Never pulled the race card either.
Hat's off to Kent Cox for taking such great care of him and getting him to all of those events.
I admire JB for taking the hardest path to a championship it shows a lot of character
Another beautiful bull ..... Just like Bodacious....will miss a lot in the PBR...
You just think of the greats! Bodacious, little yellow jacket, red rock, Dillinger, chicken on a chain, Woopaa, voodoo child but bushwhacker made them all seem a little more tame that’s only because of his great athleticism
@@shanewoods1980dayumm little yellow jacket was fun to watch I’m gonna watch him right now.
Bushwacker was a true athlete. Sounds like his passing was very peaceful. RIP.
His legacy is walking on 4 legs and running in their veins. Bushwhacker’s and JB ‘s names will forever be intertwined. Thirteen times he sat down on Bushwhacker. Lucky 13 by the Dragon Slayer. Bushwhacker knew he was a champion and he basked in his glory. Will we ever see another Bushwhacker? Who knows…..Rest easy big boy❤
All business and pure class. I love the shots of him running out of the arena and waiting at the gate. His work's done, he's punching the clock.
RIP To the greatest ever, Everyone will remember the name Bushwhacker
Bodacious was the bull…..everything else was just jokes❤
Rest in peace Bushwacker 😭🤍
He was and forever will be the Goat 🙏
@@faizanmckagan2827 no Bull
Rip Bushwacker 😢 you lived one hell of a life
Bushwhacker was the life's work of a great bull trainer.
The Spanish Vaquero is the foundation of the cowboy 🤠.
You can't train a big-bull how to understand & win a Rodeo competition ,,That bull figured it out on his own
@@chadsimmons6347 I don't think you know the story and the bond he had with his handler
Oke thank you guys!! This was realy fascinating to see. I always like a dum dum thought the back rope was the thing that makes them buck.
But he just stands there with the rope on not bothered by it.
It's just triggering kicks when he's out bucking.
Even when he's done and going back through the shoot he's not bothered but proud.
He's just standing waiting ....knowing he wil het a chanse to get you as soon as those doors open.
It seems to be a fair fight.... ❤
There is no such thing as a bull Trainer.. They are bred and born into bucking. They either have it or they don't ..
I'm from England and my first intro to bull riding was seeing JB's ride of Bushwacker and loved it ever since RIP Bushwacker truly awesome !!! 🐮❤
I was there that weekend in Tulsa when JB rode him . I dont really follow PBR so I wasn’t aware he’d never been ridden until I watched this video. I reckon I’m a lucky little sh!t.
RIP Bushwacker
Legend, Gentlemen
Rest easy, you are missed And Loved. One in a million Bulls.
Thank you 💛 for sharing
Honestly I want to show this video to everyone who says bull riding is cruel. These animals, Bushwhacker in particular, loves the sport as much as the audience, and hell of a lot more than the riders.
May he rest peacefully and continue bucking off passed bull riders and grazing in lush green fields with other great bulls❤️
What a sad sad day. Bushwhacker, you will be missed by everyone💔
Dad rode for the PBR in 93-94 best friends with Ty Murray. He still says this is one of the bulls he would dream about in the early days. A true showmen
It is an end of an era: The Dovetailing end of careers within the Bull riding arena, Bushwacker and J.B. Mauney within the 2024 year. Long may their high points in their careers reign.
I always loved Bodacious and he was what got me watching. Then I fell for Bushwacker. I will miss the big beast! Happy retirement!
If ya read the video description ( under the video )........ Bushwacker was retired quite some time ago, and sadly, Bushwacker laid down, closed his eyes and passed away on or about July 6th of this year.........only 1 day before this tribute video was posted in his honor. According to the dates, he died only a week ago...........which was only 3 days before you posted your nice comment about him. Bushwacker was 18 yrs old.
@@howabouthetruth2157 thanks. I saw that he had passed just a few days after watching this vid. He deserved a quiet peace after all that bucking and twisting. He was a master!
There are bulls and bull riders and then there is Bushwacker and JB!
It doesn't get any better and worth every penny of the price of a ticket.
Who had the consistency that Bushwacker had? No other bull. What a bull.
❤❤❤❤ got to see him buck 3 times! Bushwcker always one of my favorites. Bones, Reindeer and Bushwacker.
U are so lucky. He's the only athlete I ever wanted to meet. Trully the greatest ever... R. I. P 😢❤
@@faizanmckagan2827 I really wish you could have seen him! TV is one thing but seeing him in person was amazing. I wanted to bring him home. 🤣 I ask my Dad if I could buy a straw of his or Reindeer’s and use on our best girl. Dad laughed and said we didn’t have one worthy.
Reindeer sure did sire a champ! Bushwacker will always have a special place in my heart.
@@teresahall4247 that is an awesome story thank you for sharing!... It must been really cool growing up with these kind of animals for u. Yes I do wish I saw him in person!!.. I wish Mr julio Moreno woulda made tons of bushwacker's videos in retirement and shared with us. Now that woulda been something!
I’m from Australia and only new to orb bullriding.
I love every minute of it and was so sad to hear Bushwacker passed away.
A truly great athlete! Rest in Peace big boy!
Bushwacker was my favorite bull. Can't believe he's gone. Asteroid is right behind. Rip to my favorite #1 bull.
The best bull of all time thank you Bushwacker for the great memories R.I.P
Rest in Paradise Bushwacker. You were a joy to watch. One of my favorite bulls of all time. 💯💪🏽
A sad day.. RIP dear Bushwacker😢💐
You were loved, admired, respected, and more by Millions of people and will never be forgotten. ❤
I was there in 2016 for Bushwacker's final outing, and man, what a show the big guy put on. He was an incredibly big bull, muscular and powerful, but moved like a ninja, a thousand plus pound ninja. Really a sight to behold. It's a miracle anyone ever rode him at all. I hope enjoyed his last peaceful years, truly a magnificent animal and tremendous athlete. RIP Bushwacker, 6/1/2006 - 7/2/2024. Tell Red Rock and Bodacious we miss them, too.
Beautiful. He is bucking off cowboy angels in heaven.🐂
Rip big guy. ❤️🤍💙
No💔 we will all remember him❤
I loved how he was all cool in the chute and then come out swinging!! Ledgend 🙏🏾
My 90 year old mom loved Bushwacker. J.B. Mauney was her favorite rider. I love how calm this bull is in the chute and how he stands so nice when he goes behind the scenes. But in the ring, he's explosive!
In my opinion the greatest animal to ever step into the pbr arena! I love everything about bushwhacker, his raw power, his athleticism is unrivalled! Truly one of the best to ever do it! Thank you so much for sharing this.
Just called my 87 y.o. friend who use to ride bulls. Bushwacker was one of his favorites. He saw him buck in person several times. He will be talked about as long as there are smart rodeo bulls and determined cowboys. The great ones live forever in our memories. We know he rests in peace!
Can't thank you enough for this quick response video PBR since it's only been 3 days since he passed away. ❤..... Bushwacker trully forever will be the greatest beast to ever grace this sport... It's going to be my biggest regret never meeting him in person.. May you forever rest in peace and I also hope you and bodacious are bragging to each other right now about whose the Ali of bulls 😂... U will be missed bushwacker!!!!
From Ireland, loved watching the PBR down the years, RIP legend. Be a long time before one comes along as good.
Such a legend. Damn fine bull. RIP!
Thank you Julio!! For sharing that magnificent bull with the world! His power and athleticism thrilled everyone that had the opportunity to witness him!! His greatness can NEVER be taken away from him and he’ll DEFINITELY go into the PBR history books as one of the absolute BEST!
I believe that Bushwacker's breeding was a .major factor in his athleticism, but I also believe that Kent played a huge role in his rise to the top. There was magic in the bond between Kent and Bushwacker. I don't know if that can ever be duplicated.
Thank you for your service Bushwhacker.
The entire world of bull riding is going to miss you, rest easy champ.
Damn, RIP THE BEST TO EVER DO IT!
Best rides I have witnessed were on Bushwacker. What a legacy!
Omgosh, the baby pics!!! Squeee!
My second favorite after Bodacious.
It's 50 50 whit me both of those bulls were monsters.
@@alainhernandez8767 mine, too!
RIP champ ❤
J.B on Bushwhacker was something special for me growing up. I was raised in NYC, PBR 10 year anniversary at MSG was my first event. Between watching J.B ride, and than seeing the bull bushwhacker, ive been obsessed and following the sport since.
- just watching Bushwhacker preform for the first time ever, just learning of the sport, i knew that bull was special. Bushwhacker left an ever lasting imprint on me and made me a fan for life, as well as J.B too that night of course
There’s some good bulls out there but Bushwhacker is the epitome of bucking bulls … even the emoji for bull 🐂 on my phone looks like him.
I look forward to the one to rival him but still gonna love all those buck offs and rides that made history in PBR.
Appreciate y’all with yuge respect.
Rest In Paradise Champ

I Just ordered a shirt with his face on it😎💯
I been watching PBR since its exception in the 1992. My father may he rest and myself loved the Bull Bushwacker. And others like Rango ,Astriod , and Smackdown. Those were World Champion Bucking Bulls. But Bushwacker was the best of them all. Rest In Peace Bushwacker. You will be missed.
I watched all the fathers of these bulls and have some of them as belt buckles because that's how famous they were and it wasn't because they could throw guys off, it was because we all have hearts for animals we call pets and are parents of. They could care less if they are famous as much as the love they deserve from adoring fans. I know Bushwacker crossed the rainbow bridge peacefully and I hope he's kicking some ass up there in the pasture.
Another one of the Great Bulls joins others on rainbow bridge. R.I.P Bushwacker🐂
RIP Bushwacker may you continue to know even more peace than you had in retirement and rest of your days You were a beautiful bull.
Stunning bull. AMAZING ATHLETE.
Bushwaker was an incredible bull! Sending my deepest condolences and prayers 🙏🏻
So sad he’s gone 😢he’s bucking at heaven with the rest.
RIP GOAT.
When your name becomes a 'Verb' (Bushwacked), you know you've become a legend🙌🐂
Bushwacker was on of my favorites. I got to see his a couple times and he was amazing

R.I.P😭😭😭💔
I bet u guys right now. Bodacious and bushwacker are finally having the debate face to face whose the greatest 😂... For me it's always going to be bushwacker!
Poor lane ain’t got a chance up there with both them up there trying to throw him out of the arena

Bushy the California legend ❤
Outside of the riders, Bushwhacker was the bull that got me into the sport, after researching and getting into it bones, reindeer, bushwhacker, and now cool whip are the bulls that kept/keep me addicted to the sport.
I was lucky enough to be traveling with my cousin for his pro boxing debut, i was blessed to see Cool Whip break the buckoff record at 43 buckoffs, previously held by BushWhacker at 42. I almost missed my cousins pro debut to see CoolWhip get that 43rd buck off 😂
Life of a champion RIP Bushwacker!
The GOATS.. JB AND BUSHWACKER. RIP TO THE LEG3ND CALL BUSHWACKER. 🐂
As a friend of ours says .. They don't breed these animals to be like Bushwhacker anymore, sadly. He's the last of a very interesting breed.
Maybe he's not the last. I hear he has a son...
@@Camiken65 ohhh i hope so .. praying that his legacy continues, then
@@Camiken65he’s had plenty of sons but they have all sucked, they have the ability of his but they aren’t as smart and that’s what made him so special.
Oh my God….. I’ve seen him a few times… you did good Bushwacker. You did good.
Bushwhacker is the only athlete I have ever truly cared enough about to wear a t-shirt for.
Pamala McCarty 64 California
Yea PBR Yes 🐂🐂💯💯🇧🇷🇦🇺🇺🇸💯💯🐂🐂
Some would say that Bodacious was the most famous or perhaps _infamous_ . He was retired because he was so dangerous. But Bushwacker was a TOP bull no doubt!
That was my favorite bull and cool whip and cool whip broke the most buck offs in the world bulls
He’s like Doc holliday telling you to say “when” after that he means business 5:22 R.I.P Bushwhacker

rest in peace Bushwhacker, you were great, a hero, a champion
