As for someone who's also worked in the retail industry for 3 years and dealt with all types of people daily, relating to Squidward has never felt SO real. He's honestly the best character in the series just from that notion alone.

I'm certain Bluey is gonna become for kids now what Spongebob and the Simpsons is for kids back then. I haven't seen a kids show get as much praise as Bluey since Gravity Falls aired. I don't even watch Kids' shows in general anymore, let alone Bluey, and yet I've still seen so much hype for it, if the show is reaching me, who doesn't even know what channel it's on, then I can only imagine the impact it's having on the kids who are growing up watching it

I knew SpongeBob SquarePants was something special of a TV show because it was the first modern, currently releasing cartoon that my dad actually liked as much as we did as kids. My mom put a few episodes on for us and he casually watched in the background, and then he got closer and closer to the TV and then HE was actually the one that asked if we could watch another one. And no surprise he laughed really hard at all of Squidward’s lines and jokes.

If yall wanna have this experience like Garnt, go watch the first couple seasons of The Powefuff Girls. It is SOOO goddamn funny, and it legitimately shocked me the level of jokes they snuck in to that show lmao
Also, I has a CD of the music from SpongeBob as a kid and it had that "Ripped my Pants" song and "Cemetary Gates" from Pantera because it was on the episode with the extreme games 😂😂

I never knew Stephen Hillenburg studied marine biology. Spongebob came out when I was in 7th grade and my friend and I drew Spongebob as like the presenter on our poster for our presentation about Porifera (sea sponges) in our science class.

Probably the best way to weed out someone who’s never watched SpongeBob is to say “It’s kinda like that SpongeBob episode where…” and then describe the plot of an episode.
People who’ve watched it will be like “Oh, yeah I remember that,” whereas people who’ve never watched it will look incredibly confused.

One hundred percent, go back and rewatch ALL of Spongebob. In order. Seasons 1-5.
It's INFINITELY funnier now than it was when you were a kid. I promise. Genuinely. Sit down and watch it with your girlfriend/boyfriend/homies, whatever.
It's gotta be easily the funniest show I've ever seen. Because now that we're older and we know people IN REAL LIFE that are as dumb as Patrick, as grouchy as Squidward, a boss who is as greedy and selfish as Mr. Krabs, the whole show makes so much more sense.

I’m currently 25 but a few years ago I went to a close friends wedding with all of my old friends from highschool and I was the only one into “anime” “comics” “cartoons” etc but one night when we all went to the bar my homies gf is flipping through the channels and I shit you not puts on SpongeBob unironically and we all give it our full attention quoting the fun stupid shit lines and I felt like I was in another dimension and we were all kids again it was so much fun lmao

11:04 regarding this question I would say a good candidate would probably be any of the 2010s cartoon network shows like Adventure Time, Regular Show, Gumball etc.
Though I'm not sure if any of them is just as iconic as Spongebob, for me personally Gumball was the generational defining cartoon but others would say shows like the aforementioned regular show or adventure time.
