I bought 1 year old 883 in 1989 ( £3000 )
Kept it till 98.Then imported a 1200 sporty from cal .Covered in chrome and chrome engine. I put on 32 degree wide glide forks .2 early fat boy custom painted wheels with Avon gangsta white walls .Fxr tank .Strider 2 into 1 pipes .Mustang gunfighter saddle.
I did this years before the 48 16 inch front wheel came outThe bike looked awesome.
I nick named it the FATSTER.😂

It is a 883 but there is no chain goofy. All 883’s are belt driven

If you get an 883 you are going to do one of two things. 6 months from now you’ll either want to trade it in for something bigger with more power or you’ll be buying everything you can think of to build more power. Just find a dyna and start there

This heavy clunk makes me so unhappy I always hold my clutch in for a minute before going into first or if already hot start the bike in first.
I don’t like it either but I think it’s just a Harley thing. It always sounds “wrong” to me when I hear the clunk

@@dickjohnson5025 would rather have one of those. nonWhite america is making junk, really sad how bad that "country" has gotten. Really should be at least 4 different countries and stop empire building. Places like Atlanta and Detroit look like africa while most the rest of the South California to Georgia look just like mexico.
That clunk was particularly bad but some of my vintage japanese bikes have done something similar in the past, maybe 1/10th of it. Holding in the clutch will 100% make it not sound like that. Only have to do it once, then ride in the friction zone for a few seconds(my clutch plates specifically recommend that to "remove excessive oil") then just a small blip every down shift and it'll be buttery. I've always heard Harley transmission horror stories, but you can try it.... Honestly if I was putting that much metal shavings in my case everytime I want move forward(louder than I am fast) I'd just start the bike in first everytime and see if I could get some upgrades or just sell the cringe bike and get something cool. KTM makes some great stuff and it's basically German, would probably have some of those if was wealthy. Harley guys are normally super rich and never actually ride unless the weather is perfect in my area. There is a clear type, old grumpy, child of a boomer.
