    Seems like a very solid build order.
    If you want to add a little bit on top see if you can combine your lumber camp with the Kremlin area of effect. For those who don't know, Rus outposts have an area of effect buff that makes any lumber camp in the area give 20% extra resources dropped of.
    Another thing you can do is reset your scouts shooting animation by giving a move order after shooting. This lets you kill deer significantly faster

      @@naummw6328 yeh that was a miss-click Lol. I hate the fact that if you have your scout selected and click on the TC it garrisons! Haha.
      Yeh these two landmarks are so different that it really depends on your play style.
      For this build as you're going quite heavy aggression in feudal I'd prefer the Kremlin to help defend at home in case your opponent is playing cavalry and tries to raid the economy.
      I haven't used the golden gate too much though, could be useful as you say to get up to the next age quicker or boom with eco.
      The Kremlin gives me alot more piece of mind to attack though without worrying too much at home, I can build the Kremlin on one side of the base and wall the other side quite well.
      I'd say the Civilisation match up is quite important to help you decide though also, against the Chinese for example, if they go for the Barbican of the sun, then feudal age push becomes alot harder. In which case a switch to eco approach with be golden gate for instance might not be a bad option.

    Isn't this super inefficient? Hunting cabins to close to each other generate less gold. Also the Kreml boosts wood if the hunting cabins are in range, which is not the case in this build.
    I don't know, the build order is nice and well optimized, but the positioning of his buildings is rly inefficient.
    Also as Rus, u want a more dense base. Otherwise there's no point in using defensive landmarks.
    Just my opinion.

    • @FarmManOfficial
      @FarmManOfficial  2 роки тому +11

      Hey there! Thanks for you comment. Absolutely please do share your opinions! Its the only way we can improve at the game and think about different options! :)
      So essentially when thinking about inefficiency it's important to assess it based on your intended goals.
      The opening for this build is heavily targeted in getting military production of knights + one other unit type and feudal aggression bearing that in mind, you're vulnerable to counter attacks when you go forward (it's actually a good counter to this strat)
      With regards to the goal of the Kremlin placement we have 2 options.
      Placement for defensive purposes Vs placement for economic purposes. Both have their uses. (Ideally if you can do both it would be awesome!!)
      Economy isn't quite our target in this strategy, rather we want protection of that gold. If we get pushed off that forward gold = no knights. Because also we are going for a double unit opening, we might be behind against other civs going for a fast rush e.g. mongols or English. Personally if we want to take advantage of that increased wood gathering, id build a fortress on the woodline and the Kremlin on the gold. Because the Kremlin means you can continue to mine gold with those villagers. (Opponent less likely to dive on Kremlin as they'd take damage) and quite freely move forward with all your army rather than having to split army to stay home to defend.
      Those were just my reasons for putting the Kremlin forward for defensive purposes, I valued that more than economy at that stage.
      Either way I think you raise a good point though, because I think we'll need protection of both the wood and the gold! And it makes sense then to put a fortress on the woodline. I think on this map gen we'd need both actually.
      Thanks for the comment. Hope this shares my thought processes, but your points are valid, just depends on the approach you want to take protect gold Vs protect wood + bonus. I think we'd probably actually need to do both!

      Could work, just depends on how his Kremlin and TC are positioned with the natural barriers. Harder to make this work on a small map because of the longbow rush, but if you enemy goes English, you can always try to age up faster. Don't know, going to try the build and see how it goes

  • @dbd6393

    You made this look so easy but I've been struggling to replicate this build smoothly even against AI.
    I wonder if it's because the map is difficult (altai). This map made me want to try rus out in the first place, as the resources are so spread out and the gold is so scarce.
    Definitely all the micro gets me the early feudal monument with no goldmine, but as I expand for resources I get raided from all sides with small raiding parties that are easy enough to deal with, but they keep coming and picking off villagers and food sources before I can get defenses finished.

      Hey there thanks for the comment! I find the RUS are quite APM intensive as you have 3 scouts running around back home.
      It also does depend how much pressure you're applying because if you're in your opponent's face all the time they're less likely to be attacking your base (which by the way is a smart move and a decent counter I think) but if they do, some wooden fortresses to protect key resources will be the key.
      Tricky to suggest what's going on though tbh without watching the game. I hope this somewhat helps though !

    Question; I have been victimised by Mongol Dark Age TC rush + early horsemen recently, it really caught me off guard. Do you have any suggestion on how to early spot their movement and how to anticipate them? (as any civ, let say Rus)

    • @FarmManOfficial
      @FarmManOfficial  2 роки тому +1

      Hey dude :).
      Yeh for sure man there is alot happening with the Rus at the beginning of the game, lots of independent units across different parts of the map to control also!
      So I've had this question a lot because of how many people are doing this crazy strat lol. I haven't actually come across it myself yet, and I'm not even sure how to counter it except for using scouts to see it coming (which as the Rus will be much more natural as you're producing extra scouts anyway).
      Trouble is, even if we see it coming, what can we do about it? Honestly, I'm not too sure yet, Only thing I can think of is trying to relocate alot of your villagers elsewhere on the map, and if it is a water map, Dock early for fish. Try and get a military unit out early depending what your civ allows you and try to attack their villagers who are back at home who are gathering resources.
      I'm definitely going to keep an eye out for counter strats and keep you updated if I can, because alot of us facing this haha. I'll put a post in the community tab also, incase anyone who follows the channel has some ideas :)

      I also watched the replay of this TC rush guy:
      - he produced atleast 11 villager in total 6 to food, 5 to wood.
      - he sent 5 vil to wood 1st, and 1 to build Ovoo. The next 5 vil to sheep (builder to sheep).
      - while food villagers in production, he sent scout to get sheep, and get 1 wood villager to build a ger in which scout will drop collected sheep there.
      - after 11th villager produced, he immedeately drive TC next to opponent's, also build stable next to Ovoo to produce 4 horsemen.
      - after TC arrives at destination, he get the Khan inside TC to fire extra arrows on villagers. While also producing 2 villager and send them to nearest gold mine to build Ger.
      - next he harass villagers with a total of 7 horsemen. Also getting extra resources from stray buildings.

    • @FarmManOfficial
      @FarmManOfficial  2 роки тому +1

      Hi there! Thanks for the feedback! Appreciate it.
      I haven't seen it too much with 6 scouts, but I have a feeling that's too many and would delay your feudal age too long.
      Also, getting professional scouts is great, but I tend to get it after blacksmith upgrades and attacking, and so for me those scouts wouldn't really be doing much useful (in terms of collecting deer carcases for a long time).
      If getting six so that you can try and get all the deer on the map, that could be a good idea tbh because the bounty bonus is pretty good with the villager efficiency increase!
      I'm thinking 6 scouts would be very challenging for me personally to micro in the early game though.
      Its quite a nice idea though, I think the biggest bonus of having the extra scouts would be that you're more likely to unlock the bounty bonuses levels, but it's pretty dependent on your skill in micro-ing 6 scouts!
      Just FYI, one tip for speeding out deer shooting can be found here:

      Thanks for the fast answer 👍🏻
      I make some tests (with A.I) the best play was for 5.
      Used my first scout directly to the enemy town center , a circle to steal their sheep and back to my base meanwhile Each scout spawn set to go automatically to different places at the map , then send then back to the base while killing the deers (Not animation cancelling because it's to much for me at the moment 😂)
      When I hit feudal got gold for profesional scouts and wheelbarrow at the same time , start bringing those carcases, all my wood goes directly to military not on farms.
      It delay feudal like to 5:10 , but the best thing is I explore all the map , find the relics , so if go to castle age , I can sent the warrior monks directly to them and get the enemy ones faster.
      Need to test in a real fight 😂👍🏻

      Hey dude, thanks for the comment! No worries man, I'm always here to help if I can :)
      It is a little bit different in team games though tbh because it depends on what both your team mates and your opponent's team mates are going.
      But maybe go for knights and then decide on whether you add spears or archers depending on what your opponent is going. Basically go for knights + the unit that counters them. E.g if they go for knights, then you go for knights and spearman. If they go for spearman to defend themselves, you can go knight and archers.
      If you're in a pocket position though you might want to boom a little by going for a town centre plus just knights only to start with.

    So how quickly into feudal age should you opt for professional Scout

    • @FarmManOfficial
      @FarmManOfficial  2 роки тому

      Good question, and I hate to answer like this ... But depends!
      Personally professional scouts is usually the last thing on my list. At that moment you'll be sorting out your eco at home. And micro-ing knights and archers.
      The time to get professional scouts (practically speaking) is if you're in a period of not much military engagement i.e. you're just waiting for some re-enforcements, or have been pushed back a little.
      In reality your order of priority is likely to be:
      1) maintain your army and take the best fights possible
      2) organise macro at home
      3) if you have some spare APM, get professional scouts and bring back those carcasses
      Hope this somewhat helps. Ultimately when you run out of berries you'll need to put a hunting cabin near your deer (you won't have got professional scouts by then most likely). It's at that point it's a good idea to get the tech because once those deer run out, you'll be forced to farm otherwise

If going for a more eco approach e.g. you think a ram push won't work then can use that gold for professional scouts, it's very game dependent though, it's good to pre think though e.g.

    @HaHa-kf1yx 2 роки тому

    I don't think this build order is anywhere near optimal or polished enough to be treated as a legitimate build order for competitive play.
    For one thing, there are too many small adjustments constantly across the game, like moving villagers to different resource and buildings at random timings. I'm not worried about APM, but this level complexity will make this build order much more error prone than other BO. At the high level, your win rate == 1 - your error rate; Having a lower error rate BO means increasing your win rate.
    Secondly, the random timing of the research of wheelbarrow in this video made believe this BO is not meant to be used seriously. I believe any people who are RTS veteran will question it when seeing you just randomly start the research. But the video didn't bother to explain anything and it feels you didn't think the timing of a research matters much. This made it look like a very random action. IMO, the early research of wheelbarrow isn't worth it since the bottleneck of your resource collection rate isn't the travel speed or capacitiy because everything is near your drop building.
    Thirdly, the timing of starting the feudal age landmark (3:45) is so late in this video. It's like more than 1 min later than French (which I'm familiar with). Since I'm not familiar with RUS, I can't say you are wrong, but based on the floating resource (87 food, 140 wood, 99 gold) at the time you started the landmark, and your random research of wheelbarrow early game, I strongly believe this timing can be greatly improved. E.g. Why do we need floating 140 wood at this point? Why can't we reduce the wood villagers early and increase the wood production after the landmark started?
