- Dick Clark interviews Romeo Void band members Frank Zincavage, Aaron Smith, Debora Iyall, Peter Woods, and Benjamin Bossi. Dick Clark asks what the significance of the name of the group is. The group talks about what the future holds for them.
It's A Shame Debora Was Fat Shamed & They Weren't Promoted Better B Cause Of It ... I Had A Crush On Her ... We Lost Out On Such A Great Band ... 4 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Group Of Talented People
She's so cute
I concur
"Hot" would be a better characterization...
They're all so sweet ❤ this band ended way too soon, but then again maybe the fact they had such a short career is what makes their music feel all the more special
Loved her back then.. I was 14 yrs old in 84 . The song never say never always came on the radio when you least expected it in the 80's
these bands dont make a lot of money , but this one in particular made the world better forever
Love their song Girl in trouble. Great song.
LOVE Romeo Void!!!
What a great band with a great lead singer and instrumentals. She was a class act.
The fact that this band was ran through the mud, and didn't explode in the 80s, is an injustice that can never be corrected!
She is so cute and the men are good looking as well
I still love this band. Not to mention, Dick Clark and "American Bandstand". This was one of my favorite shows growing in the '80s. Awesome times.
Dick Clark was a lovely man.
She seemed like she was so cool
need performance part they sang "girl in trouble" in this episode
Never dreamed I'd ever see Romeo Void on American Bandstand! I bet she didn't say the "f-word" in "Never Say Never".
I swear, all of these people look and sound exactly the same today
Except Ben who has an ear illness, so he cannot play sax any longer.
They sure do
My Saturday cartoon viewing always ended with American Bandstand.
Yep at noon.
Wonderful, underrated and a very unique and creative New Wave and post punk band. Great stuff.
Great band and fun interview. Those treble-dominant bass lines and free form saxophone were key inspirations for so many bands in the 80s and beyond…even today you can hear Romeo Void’s influence in bands like Deep Tan.
Had no idea American Bandstand was even still on t.v. in 1984, let alone that they would ever have a cool , rather dark-edged group like Romeo Void on. Clark is being his usual oddly awkward self in the band interview; he was always so uncool he was cool I guess, and he seemed quite open-minded about whatever music was making waves... I guess those kids must've had a blast dancing to "Never Say Never"; it's not exactly "The Locomotion" or "Mashed Potatoes" but it is indeed a hell of a dance record and hot as hell. I still hear it from time to time in dance clubs.
Talking Heads were also on Ametican Bandstand.
American Bandstand booked anybody to perform! Dick Clark was sometimes corny but cool at the same time.😄
You must be too young! Im old. I watched bandstand back in the 70s and 80s as a kid. But they were a great band for sure.😊
That jacket though 😍😍😍
Very 80s. I wore alot of jackets like it
Very 80s. I wore alot of jackets like it
At this point, Dick Clark was chasing musical trends and delivery systems like MTV. I loved American Bandstand but it’s moment in the sun was fading. Dick made American Bandstand last as long as possible. He was on once a week and MTV was on 24/7. Dick was not going to win that battle.
Great Band !!!! Unique sound
This is a powerful band. I don't know what happened to derail them, but they had it all. Looks, slickness, talent, technique, image, hip, cool and smooth. A complete package!
@ssholes were only concerned with Debora's weight. A complete injustice. This band should have been huge, for all the reasons you listed.
I mean it wasn't too bad. Last time i heard of them was Wolf o Wall Street, Never say never was in a scene.
Lotsa things, inner conflict, the producers screwed them, also her looks were unconventional for the times, Iyall had similar struggles as the Heart and Yazoo lead singers, they were not "pretty" enough.
Dick Clark was lame They were way too cool for him.
Love Debora!
they had a great sound...I am enjoying rediscovering this band
Awesome interview!! Been years and years since I listened to them!!!
Caught this today and the memories came flooding back !!
Was surprised to learn the drummer is from North Carolina!!!
Shame they body shamed Debora like that back then
who did and how did they body shame her?
@@torahislife look up vh1 bands reunited Romeo void how the industry treated her then my remark will make sense to you
Yeppers, Video did indeed kill the radio star
@@torahislife They moved from a local record label in SF to Columbia Records in LA, a "major" label who asked her to lose weight and when she said no, they stopped promoting the band.
Cool ass band
My favorite group of the 1980s.I don't know if Ric Ocasek ,of the Cars produced all of their albums but I noticed his name on at least one that I owned. Thanks for posting this interesting clip.
One of the most underrated bands ever. The music sets such a vibe, always featured in films when they want the people to seem cool. Deborah had a unique voice and a strong stage presence.
Hi uncle Frank!
Ha I knew Frank in SF. Funny guy.
Saw Steely Dan for the 1st time on American Bandstand with out when
They are totally awesome
VERYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY rare back in the 80's to have a "Fat Girl" as lead singer in a group band !!!
and all of them look almost identical in the most recent videos i've seen of them from several years ago! especially Frank! his appearance somehow has always stayed pretty much the same. Its so sad how only a year after this, they got shut down and called it quits.
Love that band. Instincts is an awesome album that I just started listening to again and am fully realizing the incisiveness of the lyrics. What a great band!
AWESOME
I still love this band and their music.. 💝💝💝
Love um.
Why didn't we see them preforming?
I still pay my RV records.
Que bonito saco el que trae ella.
I love her!
arcata California!

@@ErikaMeyer I just watched your video WTF did i just see???? I don't want to come across as rude or anything but you sound like a nut ! Everything you talk about in your video makes no sense and has nothing to do with the music videos of Romeo Void? How did you even make those comparisons my God your mind must be all over the place..... Wow is all i can say! :P
The situation is a bit complex and not really as underground as you make it seem - but it sounds like I wasn't clear enough. I want to be clear enough. Can you be more specific? "Everything you talk about in your video makes no sense" - can you point to something specific I said that doesn't make any sense? Thanks
@@ErikaMeyer You're trying to say that the people involved with the band /who made the videos for the band etc,,, orchestrated the bad stuff in you life. That there is a connection. That everything that happened to you and you loved ones was done by the same people and the clues are in the music videos?! I can sit here and try to explain for hours but i don't think it will get through to you. Sorry but i find this theory of yours really crazy!
All I know is "The girl in trouble is a temporary thing." 😎
The record company dropped them as she was fat...
And then they faded away into music oblivion.
