I know the "Darkest Africa" Kane stories get some flak but the relationship growth between Kane and N'longa is actually a pretty good representation of an initially ignorant character (as far as race goes) adapting his views as he gets more familiar with another.

Same with Edgar Rice Burroughs, but I'll always love both authors. Any author of any period is going to project the zeitgeist of his time and place.
Tarzan, Kane, and Conan all had great friends from different races, including African.

@@harrymills2770 Harry, you may like the stories by Philip Jose Farmer. I found this author by chance when I picked a book at a free library ..Hadon of ancient Opar (The same Opar from rice burroughs Tarzan) Hadon lived millennia before Tarzan in that city. Jose Farmer does write about Tarzan as well.'' Times last gift'' is carrying on the Tarzan tradition. So to sumarise.. Flight to Opar Book 1---Hadon of ancient Opar book 2.
Times last gift--Another linked Tarzan Novel. There are many more. It may be possible you already know this author. Also Doc Savage is incarnated as Caliban.
Anyone else may like these stories as well. I found them a great read. It is always good to find a new author who you like. Cheers.

Cyber librarian, I'm enjoying your audio book adaptations of Solomon Kane! In the for what it's worth department, have you ever heard of another author named Karl E. Wagner? He created a most memorable character named " Kane "; supposedly one the first humans, who was cursed by an insane Elder God with Immortality. His books started with Bloodstone, Darkness Weaves, Death Angel's Shadow, what makes him fascinating is he's part sorcerer savant; a warrior, a barbarian, a King; a Conquerer, and many other things! It was published by Warner Books during the mid 1980s until about 2000 or so . Adding him to your library would make an excellent idea.

Another fantastic reading! It really made my work as a groundsman a lot more epic.
It struck me, that (minus the rape and the underhanded dealings) Le Loupe is a very, very conanesque character- A reaver and a plunderer and a raider, and a complete opportunist.

      understandable

Conan would ply his talents aquired in "civilized lands" such as debauchery, drunkenness, murder for hire, theivery, and a bevy of other "sins", would surely grate mightily upon the righteous Puritan. Conan would find Kane's devoutness to a singular god, teetotaling, and aloofness, an annoyance. Yet, begrudgingly, each would come to recognize the others remarkable skills with a blade. Kane would tolerate a temporary alliance, for a short term goal, however, with Conan's mercurial temperament -who knows?
