I love that you explained the interfacing and showed it to us as you did it. So many tutorials start with the fabric already interfaced and I think this made it much easier for us beginners, especially with this bag. Love it!
@@brandyjackson-beansbags I completed my bag, but made a oops. 🤦🏾♀️ I used water proof fabric, and put the lining in wrong. Anyway, I am going to make another one for my friend with deco lining. I would not have been able to complete the bag without your tutorial. That handle had me confused, but you came to the rescue! Thanks so much for sharing your God given talent with us. You’re an awesome teacher!
Thanks for this tutorial. I love your style. I am a new subscriber. I have been watching tutorials to get the courage to make a bag. I am going to try this bag. Great job!
Great tutorial, thank you. I'd have been interested in how you get the rivets in evenly, though. Pity you didn't show the final steps. Thanks again :-)
@@brandyjackson-beansbags If using home decor fabric for the exterior, do I need to take anything in particular into consideration? Thank you for responding so quickly!
It’s been awhile since I made this one… I would say to interface it with a medium woven interfscing as well as the decovil lite :) otherwise it will be quite floppy . And always love helping!!
Hello. For this bag I don’t think there is any other interfacing you could use. It had very little interfacing in it. Decovil heavy can be substituted with peltex. To fuse to vinyl, I just use my hand iron and have it constantly moving until fused. Easy peasy
Is there any reason one shouldn't do your lovely Decorative Slip Pocket with Vinyl Trim and Rivets application on the Estrella bag? If this is done, is the pocket kept the same size as stated in the pattern? How far down should the pocket be placed?
I don’t see any reason why not. I do them in all my bags! It has been awhile since I have made the Estrella. I honestly just eyeball the placement. Usually 1.5 to 2” down from Center top. For pocket size, I usually use an 8” rectangle opening… and cut my zipper linings 10” x 6”. Hope that helps!!
@@brandyjackson-beansbags Thank you for the link. I will take a look at it. Your willingness to help is greatly appreciated! If I do the decorative slip pocket, do I just leave the bottom open for turning?
I have a doubt about the pocket placing. I have seen a couple of videos and it seems that the pocket is placed with the longest side on top , but the pattern seems to have the 9 inch down??
I love this bag. Just purchased it. Can you tell me what you used for the lining? Is it cotton? I was wondering is waterproof canvas would be ok. Thank you for doing this.
Yea! I used cotton but uninterfaced waterproof canvas would work too! The only place it gets super thick is the top stitching where the straps connect. It is a great pattern!
Hi Brandy, love the video. I have a question about the vinyl you used. I have the same. Did you cut on the length or the width of the front main piece of the vinyl. Mine was short by 3/8” and I see that it looks like you cut it width?
Yes. I had the bottom of my pattern pieces along the long side of my vinyl roll. My pattern pieces were a touch bigger… a scant 1/4” but I just went with it as I really wanted to use this vinyl!
@@brandyjackson-beansbags thank you. I want to use the vinyl as well I just didn’t want it to be off if I cut on width. Was your bag a little shorter when finished
@@SweetpassionateTee I actually never measures it. But not noticeably I don’t think. To accomodate that, you could make the seam Allowance smaller in the bottom edge.
Hello! The croc print vinyl is from My PunkBroidery, the solid vinyl is Mora faux leather from Emmaline Bags, and the lining I got at Fabricland a few years back :) hope that helps!

Love the gorilla tape idea!! So much better than glue or pressing something to protect it
Yes! And ty!
Beautiful job, Brandy, as usual! You make it look easy!
This one is very very easy! Beginner and domestic machine friendly
How have Ive not known about you? You popped up on my feed today and so glad you did!
Welcome! Hope you will enjoy all my tutorials!
As usual a great video. I've made two of these bags now which were requested by friends using Mora faux leather. All happy with their bags.
Awesome!
I love your fabric choices, and your a great teacher too!
Thank you! I truly love what I do!!
Love the look but wish it had a zipper closure. Wonder how hard it would be to add one
It would be easy to do a recessed zipper in the lining :)
I’m flabbergasted that I’ve never stumbled upon your channel before! Great video! You’ve gained another subscriber :) Thanks for the awesome tutorial!
Ty for the support and subscribe! Glad the video was helpful!
Awesome sew 🧵 ✂️
Beautiful! Thank you for sharing making your bags and the gorgeous materials you used!
I just bought the pattern! Thanks for doing the tutorial. I am going to test with fabric before I gift.
My pleasure!
@@brandyjackson-beansbags hi, what dimension is your strap?
I did the long strap… I probably would’ve gone to 28” if I made it again :) just to fit on shoulder better
@@brandyjackson-beansbags Thanks so much!

Stunning ! What material did you use with the mustard color croc vinyl ? WOW !
I used the brown Mora Faux Leather from Emmaline Bags. emmalinebags.com/products/textured-look-faux-leather-vinyl-1-2-yard?_pos=1&_sid=721744764&_ss=r
Great video! Thank you! I just got this pattern and followed:) If I wanted to add piping, do we still top stitch? Thank you again!
I don’t think you would have to.
Have you made this using home decor fabric?
I have only made it in vinyls.
