As a kid, all I ever wanted for my birthday was to go see PORTLAND Wrestling. I remember watching Billy Jack vs. Ric Flair at the old sports arena. I was also there when Billy Jack and Curt Hennig fought Buddy Rose and the Dynamite Kid where Buddy became a good guy. I will never forget those days.
Sadly the guy had a few screws loose in real life. He normally came off as a soft spoken guy in the locker room and if you met him - unless you pissed him off. At one point he was supposed to join the WWF - Vince even put him on the cover of a magazine a month before his debut - then he never bothered showing up. These dudes were special. A joy to watch in the Golden Age of Wrestling. My all-time favorite tag team is The Road Warriors. I was Hawk and my best friend was Animal. Crazy memories and tons of fun. For those of us that remember, Billy Jack Haynes was one of the toughest dudes in wrestling but sadly was booked improperly with WWF. Billy Jack was a serious butt kicker in previous wrestling organizations.

Billy back in the day was one of the legit badasses, more legit than most. In a legit fight Hawk or Animal wouldnt stand a chance against him. I'd say top 7 or 8 of legit badasses in pro Wrestling.

Wrestle to survive today, had/has to grow tho. The Mountie or tug boat or Ultimate Warrior wouldn't fly today. Neither would tough guy NWA style from 1985/6. When it was believed to be real, it worked well. Now that it's known 109% sports entertainment, that wouldn't fly either. The ruthless sgression era had a lot more Mic work, and cage( hell im cell, elimanation chamber) stuff that worked, but going into 2010's there had to be something different!! Women's Wrestling being equal to men's. Not just the woke crap part of it, but it's actually very good! I mainly just watch women's now.

Men are more betas now, instead of steroid head alpha's. Besides, with concussions, wrestlers today work more on body to body, so the poor brain is spared.
