That map was a shocker. Was amazed that the laser didn't leave any burning and made me think there was something missing. The black paint fixed ALL of that and made it probably my most favorite of the pieces you made. Really cool way to do like a faux wood burning piece.

Man, I know you don't want to be a laser cutter review channel, but you did a really good job of making me want this thing! That map is stunning!
I've seen a lot of lasers etch pictures, but they look like they were taken from late 90's era web cams. The clarity on this guy looks amazing. When I find a place for one of these in my garage, I'm certainly picking this guy up!

The different strengths of this lazer could create beutiful work with multilayered material such as fordite.
You could create a sheet of resin, poured in several layers of different colors, with black being the final pour. You create a work of art to engrave, enlarge it by a small amount several times, and set the different enlargements to be progressively weaker.
This will create a multicolored effect to whatever you are trying to engrave.

Could it be possible to do laser engraved/cut knife handles out of resin blanks? It would enable you to nearly skip all of the sanding and shaping, which might be beneficial for something like those sprinkles where the colour was lost upon sanding (though you did already do a sprinkle knife handle that looks quite good)

quick tip for cleaning items made, esp in acrylic if there is dusk or gunky stuff, use spray on furniture polish dont by the laser cleaner as that's like £35 a spray bottle and does not work as good. also do not use PVC in it as you will not have fun. lastly never trust it. co2 lasers are fun but dangerous, get some good laser goggles not the cheap red or green ones from the hardware shop get some that are made for the wavelength of light the laser outputs which you can read off the laser tube. and try and wear them if you are watching the laser or opening it as a flash back from a what I would guess is a 30 or 40W laser will remove your eye sight fast.
