I thought I’d seen it all until I saw this particular video. What a special performance! Mitch was loving it, and even Noel seemed to be getting into it.
This is the beginning of metal. The drums, the fast guitar and the feel only tell me one thing. This dude is trying to break through like a atom bomb. ⚛️
His performances are always better, i. My opinion its way cooler if you can play the same song a different way everytime you play it, nowadays its kinda more based around sounding just like the record, but this is so raw its like a true test of skill, the band held together great to the point that when they sounded bad they still sounded good,
I like the albums better. Those were masterpieces from Jimi. Breaking through with fuzz and distortion to the masses. A concert only goes so far. A physical album with music and pictures is how he wanted to be wanted. White women is what he dreamed about, and guitar is what the dreams told. The guitar is specifically speaking to you. Youz the listener. If you don't get it, pass it along like a joint, a joke and a gesture. You will only understand once you've experienced. Break through....
110% more authentic than the studio versions pressed onto LPs. And raw emotion with each of them talking with instruments as extension of body and soul
Hendrix was one of a kind, he used to play with Little Richard's band at one stage, when he was starting out, with quite a few of the old time rocker bands of the day, but as he played everything his own way (the loose raunchy style he shows in this video) the band leaders didn't take to him, he was too uncontrolled, and went for the over driven volume, to achieve sustain, (natural sustain I might add), he knew how to control it, but it didn't take off, this was his way, and style of playing guitar. (Little Richard claims he discovered Hendrix) Feedback was a tool for him, he knew how to use it to his advantage. Back in his day, guitar peddles mostly hadn't been developed to any great degree, like they all are today. He used a Fuzz box, and a Wah Wah peddle, and would use them together quite a lot. Marshall amps gave Hendrix his volume and sustain for live gigs, there weren't any big Sound System's (PAs) in his day. Most musicians used banks of amps, and speakers hooked together to achieve volume, and being able to hear a sense of their vocals back at that time. Hendrix used a twin reverb Fender guitar amp, with 2 x 12 inch speakers in the studio, for recording, on stage for live situations, he used a Fender Twin reverb, with 2 x 12 inch speakers, 2 of these setups incase of breakdowns during a show. Hendrix ran the Fender Twins into the Marshall amp stacks, may have miked up as well, as the Fenders deliver a clean solid sound, have a lot more control over the sound, and through into the Marshall's, gave him volume, and the ability to achieve his studio sound, (in a live situation). Hendrix changed the way guitarist's played and used an electric guitar. This is what he did, an innovator for sure. He wasn't possibly better than other guitarists of his time, people like Rick Deringer, Johnny Winter, these 2 guitarists were purists blue style guitarists, as good technically as Hendrix, they both had control over their volume and ability over the sustain. People like Stevie Ray Vaughn, had a reputation of copying Hendrix, in some ways he developed a similar technique of playing similar to Hendrix, but he never was like Hendrix, a little too clinical in comparison. Both Winter and Deringer had a similar looseness to their playing, especially Johnny Winter, who is very unique, one of a kind guitarist. Buddy Guy Albert King, both very good guitarists, have a similar style, and technique to their guitar playing. Larry Carlton is a man alone guitar player, quite technical in his style. We can go back to Gary Moore, Gibbons, these guys are both great guitar players, Robben Ford, but very very different to Hendrix. The song 'Stone Free' can be found on the original record, 45 single, with 'Hey Joe' and 'Stone Free' on the flip side. The 'Are You Experienced' Jimi Hendrix LP album, may have both these songs on it, but don't quote me. I do have this original album, but haven't pulled it out to check my information. There are live recording's, of Hendrix, found mainly on live video concerts of him. As usual, each time, the song may not be note for note to the original, such as this footage of Hendrix doing 'Red House' live, it's a bit slower than the studio version, drags somewhat, and he leaves out his vocal line, that because (my baby don't live here no more, that's OK, I've still got my guitar) so it will be different each time he performs a song. I love Hendrix version of (In From The Storm) a very complex arrangement, but it works. Back in the day, drummers playing a double kit, were definately rare, 'Cream's' Ginger Baker was unique for his time, but when Hendrix came along, Mitch Mitchell was definatey on, in my opinion. Mitch is a Jazz drummer, Ginger was blues orientated, plus Mitchell played more like a rock drummer, but had the Jazz feels going on, he was another innovator, changed and influenced drummer's the world over. The music world can give much thanks to the 'Jimi Hendrix Experience' they were (are) great. It all got better from there.
Playing for CHILDREN in the studio audience. They don’t have a clue! Some of the most incredible solos on these early versions! A shame the camera wasn’t on him during the end of Purple Haze. Superhuman sounds coming from his amp! How did he do that?! And the solo during Hey Joe where he performs cunnilingus on his guitar?! Amazing!
Patrick Forgot to mention in my other posts, Mitch holding the drumsticks in the Military Grip. Notice, of course, the way he holds the stick in his left hand. This is the way he was taught at the drum school where his father sent him. This is one of the few times in Rock history that you will see a drummer play in this fashion!
if you were able to hit up.a jimi hendrix concert.you should be one happy, teller of the greatest of the greatest of the greats.my bro put out so much in the 4 years.of his existence.and the studio recordings.you should be one to talk about the concerts of the LIVE music, You Experienced...
Andrew S. No way.Hendrix and Eddie Kramer worked very hard to create his sound. Hendrix was a perfectionist. On the second album he expanded his music, which took more time to put down on tape. This lead to the break- up with Chandler, who wanted Jimi to go back to the first album format: one take and out. He would often spend all day just putting his leads/ sounds on one song by the third album.
LOL! This audience doesn't appear to realize what hit them. This was the tightest rock trio that flooded the stage with volcanic sound. (Yes, a mixed metaphor suitable to the Experience.)
Wnen. Jimi jammed with cream in London Eric said , " I knew this would happen" Jimi" live , was as good if not better than his studio recordings, so rare
Jimmy made his guitar sing for him. No one has ever done that, not then not now. No strain...other need surgery afterwords..Jimmy is GOD and no one will dethron him. Clapton...feared him ..................... for good cause.
Jimi Hendrix is one cat who was one of those unfortunate people along with Jim Morrison and Janice Joplin Amy winehart and a whole mile of young artist who left us too early in life. Something about that magic 27 huh? They call it the 27 club something like that. Anyway you have you get famous you die or legend rock on Jimmy
Mitch's drumming is SO underrated. He's great!
He was absolutely Incredible he should be compared with Krupa. This vid proves just how phenomenal he truly was!
Absolutely! It simply amazes me that even after almost 60 years Mitch continues to remain one rock's most underrated drummers!
Davvero troppo sconosciuto
Un vero mostro

Jimi Hendrix lives forever through his music(and video). Long Live Jimi!!!!

Like all Hendrix songs, the faster Mitch plays seems to push Jimi to even further greatness
His guitar chops get all of the credit but few mention what a Gorgeous Baritone Jimi had
"Right On."
I thought I’d seen it all until I saw this particular video. What a special performance! Mitch was loving it, and even Noel seemed to be getting into it.
Mitchell was a beast.
The Sound ...
The thing is ,he had this symbiosis with the guitar, that even in todays standards ,is hard to find !! 🤘

Metal was the death of this kind of Psychedelic Rock.

??????????????????????????????????????????????????????? WTF are you talking about? Black Sabbath.
I actually like this performance better than the versions of these songs in the albums

Recorded in Europe obviously.
你儂我儂你小儂
'Scuse me while I kiss this guy
Jimi kisses the sky...
but makes a joke here
The 27s...that died such a shame..
woohooo
Fuzz face high gain!
IKR? The amount of gain for 66-67 or whenever it was is insane sounds like a grunge record. So cool.
Was this from '67?
The mix on this is too hot. Clipping a bit
When was this? March 67?
early days all got big afrows
Robin Who?....ah, that Tribute Band? Trower....
And the Witches are crying in the canyon !
Who can forget when Pennywise 🤡 played drums with Jimi Hendrix 🥁
Lightning in a bottle
That's where Jimi was admitting his homosexuality "''excuse me while I kiss this guy"
