I just stumbled upon this video and realized, I was at this show! The reunion of these beautiful souls brought a tear to my eye because as I watched them working together, I could feel their love for each other. Aged and a little rusty perhaps, but that's life folks. These men gave us some very special gifts and they will forever be my favorite band.
When I was in my teens, my mother and sister would go shopping. I stayed home, put my earphones and listened to these guys. Besides the Moody Blues, CSN&Y was my favorite group. Too bad CSN did not last long.
Miss David too. In all these years tho, I never ever realized till right now that this epic song was based on Cat's Squirrel. De Ja Vu in a DID since buying it upon it's release.
Stephen Stills is likely the most underrated guitarist in America, He and Terry Kath are a tie in my book. Terry was a a bit more hard instrumental, but Stephen was always on spot too.
Well, Keltner and Dunn sound good, anyhow... EDIT: Keltner is solid as a freaking rock, in fact. He is successfully herding cats up there. EDIT 2: The more I listen to this, the more I hear Keltner kicking ass. He's always beyond great, but I'm not sure I've heard him this aggressive before. MVP award winner on this one.
You've got it right,, brother... with all the website, . composite people, imitating the greatest, drugs, they made a career...... even though they were in the scene of the heyday, the,69s
Having covered this track with my band in the 70’s I was keen to see the ‘masters’ at work! As a live performance by very experienced musicians I thought it was dire!! I’ll stick with the studio version thanks.
The year is 2023, this was recorded in 2000. The music sound has lessened over time. I prefer the1st time it was recorded. This is so sad , to witness those who gave us so much to appreciate, age badly before our eyes, Imagine seeing them today , would we recognize them ? The music, however lives on Salamat
Age is definitely a curse. This is the age where they’re still in a bit of denial and don’t want to change their approach. By the 2009 Rock n Roll HoF concert, they’d learned to sing with aged voices and didn’t try to really stress their vocals like they used to.
@@abc-yv2js i love csny but i’ve heard few live shows where they’re actually singing in tune… kinda hilarious how they could never get it together when their records have some of the sweetest harmonies I’ve heard
@@SnyderChips07 Being all "F'ed" up is why they or most people perform bad. You are right thought, they have had some good concerts and in the studio did some real great stuff
What?! No Hammond Organ break? Why do so many bands get so cheap they can't hire an Organ player to at least bring a sound similar to the Original. Oh well, their voices are such a shadow of what they used to be so guess its no big thing.
good point...there should have been a B-3 and a couple of 122s whirling there. Also, I was expecting a bit more on that acapella break in Carry On...why wasn't Neil joining in with his high end part? Sort of disappointing...
@@trfesok - yes, but Neil was on the the 4 Way Street live version and helped make it burn with both his guitar & vocals. Funny how that version isn't mentioned or compared in the comments on here...
I enjoy the superb harmonies on their studio albums. Since college. Saw them live several times and thought the harmonies were "bad" at best. I would like a vocal coach to explain to me who is usually singing flat or sharp and who is messing up the phrasing or what. The music they wrote is incredible and monumental. It deserves better at live performances.
well, considering the time passage and the absolutely tremendous impact they had on the music of their generation (not to mention an amazing "original" Woodstock performance), I believe a little slack should be allowed...that's my opinion.
Love these guys . But they are so full of ish . Because they can make music they aren’t any different than anyone else doing a job . Never understood the adoration of someone who can play an instrument. Every one of them is a jerk .
David Crosby, RIP. Thanks for the music and being part of the soundtrack of our lives.
😞😞😞 RIP
Well said.
CSNY will never be equaled. Thank you David Crosby for the music and the memories.

Rusty? You were there. But they do sound good in this video.
Mine, too...
I'm loving this - Neil dancing around in the background in his own world, having a great time, the energy is fabulous!
My favourite group in the seventies. They play a wonderful music and take me back to my youth. Their music is immortal .
Anche il mio !
.mine too bro
Same for me!
The one and only Croz! You'll be missed. You sang even when you spoke. The voice of an angel.
What an awesome band, what an awesome song!
my heart-throb, Stephen Stills
Gotta be one of their BEST live versions of this tune.....love it! Carry On!!!
Saw them live around this same time. They were amazing.
Awesome to be seeing some live music, even if 20 years ago! Message still rings true
The 50 year old msg still rings true. But the arena they performed in has been abandoned and demolished.

I’ve seen CS&N a lot as well as Neil Young . Probably 20x each . This was the only time I saw all 4 together

RIP David, the guys did great here. Awesome. Thank you all.
Amen. Two Americans, a Canadian and a Brit. Music made for all of us. Peace.
Cut short
Stephen Stills makes this song immortal.
Thanks for the music David, you are mi idol for ever
I was blessed beyond measure to see these guys not once but twice in my fair state of Georgia. A supreme pleasure each time! 🫶🏼🙏🏻
Another Stills classicc

@Jill Not a great rendition at all...

Neil Young for Prime Minister of Canada ! Stephen Stills -- Talent on loan from God !

Saw CSNY at the long-gone Capital Center in Maryland, in ‘75 or ‘76. Fantastic!

Where are you going now my love? Where will you be tomorrow?
They left out half the song.
Best part of the song too
That's Questions by Stephen Stills from his Buffalo Springfield days. He worked it into Carry On on CSNY album.
Agreed, I scrolled towards end to hear it and…. They skipped it, bummer
In 1980, they released a remix without the "Questions" section. That's been the standard live version ever since.

Listening to the studio version and then to this... does this performance no favours.
I agree, this is really, really bad. No groove, no subtlety, and the second part of the song isn't there. It's cringe-makingly bad.
Don't take me wrong, but I live in the South where there are a lot of Gospel Quartets and their harmony is not as tight as it used to be. Carry On!
This song does remind me of alot of the gospel harmonies. BUT it does need a bass vocal on this song
You're right but it's probably been more than a couple decades at this point since they recorded this. I still love them and now Crosby's gone
