this plugin is extremely underrated for mixing and even production honestly. Adding a 1-3db of crunch to electronic drum samples really makes them pop. That and I often just add a clipper to stop any spurious peaks going over 0 on some mixer channels.
I bought Flatline and I was impressed before this update. Now I'm really happy.

do you limit after the clipper? for more steady state stuff?
If I have Output at 0db and Safe Clip turned on, do i have to worry about Inter-Sample peaks if that wav track is latter converted to mp3 ?

To me, a guy trying to master for the first time, I just avoid clippers and uses limiter to only limit the drum/percussion transients and try to make sure there’s enough headroom. I’m still not comfortable with using flatline given my skills but in the future it’s in my consideration

The new features look really great! Is the safe clip feature essentially a TP limiter or is there a distinction?
There's a distinction. Clipping and inter-sample peaks have an interesting relationship, as clipping essentially relies on those faux peaks in order to create its punchiness. Safe Clip is there predominantly to make traditional meters happy. Most true-peak meters run at 4x oversampling - which is vastly lower than Flatine is capable of - meaning their margin for error is substantial. If you're worried about ISPs, simply run flatline with high oversampling, and use the 'Output' in order to reduce the ceiling so that you maintain adequate headroom for the platform you're exporting for.
128 over sampling to keep those audio.. I mean visual mixers happy. Haha👍

i guess you have indeed watch comparisons of your product and other clippers that are cheaper (or even free) that has crazy amounts of oversampling.

speaking of which, being too stringent on the "aliasing" might actually hurt the song's competitiveness when it comes to level, correct me if it's not exactly right lol.

Is this a complete replacement of ozone or other mastering plugins?
What's the difference between "Flatline" and Fabfilter's Pro-L2 ? ... because it's looking more and more like the same plugin !
L2 is a limiter and compresses the signal and makes it louder. Flatline is a clipper which shaves off transients and adds very slight distortion to shape the clipping effect. Doing this allows you to also make things louder by increasing the amount of headroom available
you can make pro l2 kind of act like a clipper (ff actually made a preset called "practically clipping), but it's way more complicated than just loading a flatline lmao.

@@junkawakami3193 The latest firmware update makes the Flatline GUI look almost identical to Pro-L2 .. even some of the new added features mimic Fabfilter's plugin !
