cetriya's Art n Comics Channel thanks for suggesting that cheap cardstock paper. I would have never in a million years even thought about that. A big lifesaver! Thank you! Also the only color paper I used was the Strathmore toned tan mixed-media paper. I'm still feeling it out, but so far it seems pretty good. I've only used markers on it and some colored pencils and pens and inks. I have used watercolor markers "tombow" on it. Works pretty nicely👍👍

Hmmm, I've never had a problem with canson XL media paper. Though I can understand how they would use up your ink that is why I tend to use like sharpies and such in them the majority of the time. The best paper to use is smooth Bristol board, strathamore marker paper, and smooth cardstock (but there is a difference between the brands) also I have a sketchbook like that first one that I got from ross and I love it. The paper is really smooth so yeah.

  • @Astroducc

The purpose for dedicated marker pads are not mainly for bleed thru. They have a less porous and smooth surface . It makes it easier to blend colors , it soaks up less fluid so your markers last longer, the nib doesn’t get ruined ny wet paper. Many art store sells them for between 10-20usd

Hey. New alcohol marker user here :P
so, I did the recommended one, and got Cardstock (after mistakenly getting acrylic/water color paper. I sent it back don't worry lol) and, it does do pretty good, and these basic as hecc grapes and blue berries, & whatever else look good. But one thing I noticed, and I don't know if this is because of the brand of the cardstock, my inexperience with alcohol markers or what, but the paper sometimes gets this sort of wear on it, and when that happens the paper causes the marker ink to kinda explode, this comes about whenever I used my colorless blender.
Don't know how to prevent that, but I'm at least trying

I just noticed that I said 500 series when I meant 400 series (the one with the dog on the front of the pad). Sorry about that. I use Michael's weekly coupons (they're the devil, you know, lol) as an excuse to experiment with various types of paper pads. I did a school project utilizing the Strathmore Visual Journal (mixed media version) which handles markers well along with other media.
