- The first part of the series in installing a carbon fiber airbox in an E46 M3. This video explains how to remove the stock air plenum and surrounding accessories.
This video uses a trim removal tool, which can be purchased here: amzn.to/GYcJgu

Since this video was posted, I installed a different tune, and csl bumper with air ducting and air flap, dyno'd at 327 rwp.
Total with alpha-N software, Euro headers and cats and airbox is estimated at 15-25 HP
Congrats for the mod and the video!!!
What other mods have you done to achieve this power?
My euro m3 has 282 hp dynoed at the wheels in stock form
Good video
I'm trying to use your video to determine the location of the TPS sensor that's by the alternator without having to tear my engine bay apart. Is it shown at any point in your video? My understanding is it was underneath a bunch of the intake components...
Thanks btw, awesome video!
Throttle position sensor is right next to the oil filter housing.
is this the karbonious airbox? and can you list the things you need to get for the conversion. which tune did you run? AlphaN tune or is it the more oem way which involves MAP or something. looking into making my own airbox, CSL style inspired but with how I want but it will run like the CSL airbox. Thanks!
Nope, this is a "Randy Major" airbox, before the Karbonious airboxes. Try searching M3Forums for a list of items, there are quite a few needed. The software that was installed is from TTFS. This car does have a MAP sensor fitted as well.
Thanks weren't sure which way to go about it, trying to find a DYI
Did anyone ever make a DIY? I did this 6 years ago.
Blue Purple Red since the m3forum.net no longer exist. It’s been hard
Tosin N check - nam3forum.com/
@@BluePurpleRed thanks I'm going to create a thread and see if anyone has a write up on the intake install.
DId you use Turner Plug-and-Play IAT Relocation Kit, or just a BMW Intake Manifold Temperature Sensor -
I used the BMW intake temp sensor.
will this still be street legal after installation?
how much hp do you get?
How much did all the install run you? Planning to do it to my manual e46
I did the install myself, I did not pay a shop.
Where did you get the CSL airbox?
Oh boy, it was a hassle. This was part of a Group Buy that I organized on M3Forum's a long time ago.
I don't see why not. Emissions is not altered.
The noise is worth more than infinite hp
is it possible to fully convert a stock e46 M3 to a CSL?
+1954telecaster of course. it will be expensive but yes.
is the engine the same or would you have to bore out the cylinders?
engine is the same, just difference airbox and tune of course (engine wise), mostly its the weight that is different coz CSL got a lot of carbon fiber to lighten the weight of the car.
of course other things like suspension is different (more aggressive and stiffer) and maybe even the diff? can't remember but nothing too major, basically you are paying for a lighter weight with different airbox M3.
are you sure? i heard the engine was tuned slightly different...
+1954telecaster the cams are different, uses a MAP sensor instead of MAF, therefore the software is different from a non CSL.
