I think you can explain rock bottom better by just saying that it creates two stat sheets, your rock bottom one and your hidden one where the hidden is the actual stats and the rock bottom is the highest they were during the run after getting rock bottom and each time the hidden actual stats are higher than the rock bottom one they will change the rock bottom stats to their current value
I think that's the best explanation I've seen. I always struggle to explain rock bottom to someone. From now on, I will use this one.
but why do they ever go down? like if i take something and it raises my rock bottom why does it go down to the hidden?
@@IyaJenkei It only goes down if the stat up is temporary. Like with the Nail: Sinvicta used it, the dmg stat went up on that room on the hidden and rock bottom sheet. When he left the room, the dmg stat went down on the hidden one, but stayed the same on the rock bottom one, because it was a dmg up only for that room.
@@IyaJenkei because then for example let's say you take Polyphemus and get the tears down, if you then take soy milk you literally get both the soy milk multiplier and the Polyphemus multiplier without any downside. The hidden stats going down are a mechanic to somewhat balance out rock bottom

Rock Bottom, Gello. Two of the strongest items in the entire game. This run was won from the moment it began. We got some great interactions with Rock Bottom, to include The Nail and Paschal Candle. Add some big time plays like Old Bandage + Maggy's Bow, and we get some super profitable Sacrifice Room plays (even more so with Filigree Feather), netting us Freakin' Sacred Heart. We skipped to the Dark Room and killed the Lamb in less than 30 minutes... this run is already at a 9 on Jasonator53's Repentance Eden Run Dunk Rating, and we haven't even started the Victory Lap.
This run was obviously insane, but what took it from a great run to a god tier run were some unsung heroes. Evil Eye, Angelic Prism, Lost Contact, Sagittarius, Holy Light + the Perfection trinket. Those items in combination covered the majority of the screen in tear effects, making it difficult to even see the floor, let alone the bosses. This is a 10 by definition. Runs like these are truly rare, and an absolute blessing every time we get to see them. What a start to the week!
I imagine rock bottom like Peak levels in an audio visualization. Maybe you've seen it before, I'm talking about the little lines that appear on top of the volume level, can only get pushed up, and then fade away. Except without fading away here.

Fun (or not so fun) fact: George Lucas did use a lot of motifs from Frank Herbert's Dune novels for Star Wars (most famously the desert worms: Sarlacc Pit). Frank Herbert did disclosed in an interview that he might sue George because of these similarities but he never did.
Also it is interesting that you like the first Dune movie over the second one since that is the opposite of what most people would say. Frank Herbert has a fascination with the human mind and how we use it and its the over arching theme of Dune (no thinking machines: aka no AI or personal assistants; using spice to further use the human mind, the Bene Gesserits). Because of that, most of the novels are internal dialouges and it is infamously hard to adapt to movies. Dennis Villneuve did a great job adapting it though.
P/s: if you want to read Dune, read the first 6 written by Frank Herbert himself. The later ones are written by his son and it retcon a lot of the original material and overall kinda bad.

When I saw rock bottom and gello as Sinvicta's starting items, I genuinely smiled knowing this run was won from the start, sacred orb and heart just sealed the deal.

The colors that emerge from TIG welding is due to the gas interacting with the heat in the weld. I can almost guarantee he welded that on stainless steel.

I’ve had a neighbor overfill my can with black bags. When I’ve never used black bags.
You do have to worry about stat downs with Rock bottom. How it works is if you get a stat down, you will not have your stat lowered, however, before that stat can be raised again, you have to match the stat down value in stat ups to allow the stat to rise again.
Hey, I know its been a while since you had to worry about unlocks but felt I should issue a small correction: Rock Bottom is earned from boss rush as regular Jacob & Esau. So not as bad an unlock (at least its one I somehow managed to get), but still more of a pain than I'd like for sure.
The first time I did a victory lap on Isaac, I went to do a mother run thinking I can easily unlock mother's unlocks, but man was I wrong. Haha

I prefer angel deals with rock bottom. The pool has better stat boosting items such as star of bethlehem & hallowed ground. You can even stack these two in the boss room easily to get a massive stat boost.
Day 604 of listing items by item ID: Mom's Bracelet! To make breaking things quicker you can just press space again to drop them and not use a charge.
Also day 294 of underrated stuff: Daddy Longlegs! Some seriously high damage for a familiar and has AOE.

Death’s List is best on mediocre runs I believe. It’ll always generate more value than you pay for it, as long as you get it early enough, but on struggle runs you don’t have the ability to go after Death’s List payouts and on won runs you don’t really need or care too. But it can definitely make a mediocre run good and a good run very good.

It's better to say that your stats are calculated as normal in the background, but you always keep the highest value they obtain.
