Just finished Dark Places on audio and really enjoyed it. However, I would say Sharp Objects is darker and has the southern gothic feel that makes it perfect for me. Thanks for the recommendation!

Great list, thank you! Love love love your videos and recs. I have a thing for thrillers, and one I highly recommend is Find Him by Jake Hinkson. A phenomenal book with so much heart - it's the best thing in the genre I've read this year (and I've read a bunch). Another that was totally unexpectedly great was Heat 2 by Meg Gardiner. A prequel and a sequel of sorts to the movie, and the unimaginative title is totally deceptive. It's such a great read.
So glad you posted this video! Like you, I find most thriller just ok-good. I don't read them much because they all seem the same. I added a lot of the ones you mentioned (or already had them on my TBR). I even added some as rereads since I read them years ago and though I may not have rated them as high as you, I'm curious to see if my tastes have changed. These are not in any particular order, but I rated them all over 4 stars. Burn town by jennifer mcmahon, When you disappeared by John Marrs, All around the town by Mary Higgins Clark, Behind her eyes by Sarah Pinborough, The night sister by jennifer mcmahon
Five thrillers I like: The Boys From Brazil by Ira Levin Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris True Grit by Charles Portris The Snowman by Jo Nesbo No Country For Old Men by Cormac McCarthy

I loved all of the Gillian Flynn Books, Whisper Man and Final Girls. Creep, Lock Every Door and False Witness are already on my TBR. I added Dare Me and You to my TBR.
Gone Girl is one of my all-time faves but I don't think it's gotten the credit it deserves for the trend we've seen with domestic thrillers now. Seems like it's so normal to have mysteries with unreliable, maybe psychopathic female main characters but there wasn't a lot of that before Gone Girl came on. I think people who read it now probably aren't impressed unless you read it as modern classic that influenced the thriller genre.

I mostly read murder mystery and "shoot 'em ups" but a few horror and thrillers that have stuck with me are (In no particular order) "Ghost Eaters" by Clay McLeod Chapman. Basically, Take a pill, see a ghost. and an addict overdoses. More humor than I expected, but very dark. "We Are All the Same in the Dark" by Julia Haeberlin. A young girl is found by the side of the highway by a trucker with his own disturbing past. An old murder is reopened, truckers girlfriend is a deputy trying to figure out what is going on. A heartbreaking twist 3/4 of the way through the book. I read it again to see if I missed anything. "Triptych" by Karin Slaughter. The first book with "Will Trent", and he is a secondary character to a man let out on parole after being convicted of a brutal murder. I started gulping down all Karin Slaughter books after this.
Creep Jennifer Hillier (3.9) Final Girls Riley Sager (3.8) The Collector John Fowles (4) Lock Every Door R. I took a screen shot of all your recommendations…if you want to read a book that really challenges you emotionally, read The Memories of Ana Calderon by Graciela Limon…not a thriller but an emotional rollercoaster. (4.1 on goodreads). Short little book but does it have an impact. Started a little book club at work…let’s see how many we get through.
Some really terrific thrillers. I loved the Gillian Flynn books especially Gone Girl. Midnight Rain is another favorite. I did enjoy Final Girls as well.
1. Silence of the Lambs 2. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo 3. The exorcist 4. The Cutthroat (also first person POV from the killer) 5. The Bone collector (has a first person POV from the killer) has several narrators/POV. I would love a list of first person POV thrillers with emphasis on the killer that’s my jam also!
Yes! The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was great. Thanks for reminding me. I thought actually that the series got stronger in the 2nd and 3rd instalments actually as the first 1/3 of the initial book informed me too well about financial corporate laws and such!!!!! which despite my attempts to fathom went whoooshing right over my head and sending me dozing....however the last 2/3 of the book more than made up for that lapse!
Great video! added a lot of these to my list. I recently read Tell no one, which I really enjoyed because it was so fast paced and didn’t have a lot of filler. I also really enjoyed the lack of sex in it. 😂😂 I say that because the next book I read was pretty girls which should have come with a warning because I was basically reading torture p*rn 30% of the book. I got into reading thrillers by reading Tess Garritsen as a young adult. If anyone has any suggestions of thrillers with sex, not being a main part please recommend! lol Im not a prude or anything, I make online adult content. I just find myself slowing down pace and zoning out during those parts and with my ADHD I can’t afford to get pulled out of it.
See my comment below please re: my feelings about Gone Girl. Any "all time" top 15 list of thrillers that contains so many (3!) by GIllian Flynn to me means that you have not taken seriously the "all time" label or have attempted a clickbait. For example, I don't know whether you do not consider "Marathon Man" or "The Boys from Brazil" or "Eye of the Needle" Thrillers but even if you do not what about Patricia HighSmith's The Talentic Mr. Ripley (or The Blunderer) or Scott Smith's A Simple Plan or Thomas Harris' Silence of the Lambs (maybe horror, strike that), Thomas Perry - Dead Aim? There are so many out there. And I know I am missing tons. You cannot have Flynn glut up the market if you really are claiming this to be an "of all time" list. I do give you credit for including THe Collector by John Fowles (which I have not yet read but plan to). Still, you have got my sub and I like the format and your commentary. Thanks!
I replied together to both your comments together. Several of the books you mentioned i haven't read it. But that makes me hopeful that this list of personal favourites will continue to grow and evolve
@@TheShadesofOrange Everyone prefers something different, that's fine.I have not read either of them, but PRETTY GIRLS is high on my list.Would you still recommend it?
Hey man, anyone else simply abhor Gone Girl!?!?! Sorry just never saw the appeal. It just never got me to care about any damn character in it and so the "twists" were just sort of academic exercises with no heart involved to invest them with any power. Antiseptically scrubbed and hollow.
There's a reason the video title said "my top 15". I recognize this is an unbalanced personal list. I wasn't trying to make an essential list but my own very personal favs (which you are certainly allowed to disagree with)
Im thinking of endings things us the worst book that I've ever read. If i could have set it on fire i would have done it but it was an ebook. It was the worst book I've ever read. I love Gillian Flynn and Jennifer Hillier and have read all of their books but this book was the worst I've ever read.
Boo to this all time? list. Can’t believe this is an all time thriller list Dozens of older thrillers better than these. 3 Gillian Flynn books? Come on. Gone Girl very overrated and ending not much of a twist. You-- don’t like the main character at all. Snarky humor is the right word. I’m Thinking of Ending Things is very good but has a weird confusing ending
Honest question: how would I change this video without being disingenuous? Because yes these are my all time favourite thrillers, including GG (which you are free to dislike)

4. The Cutthroat (also first person POV from the killer)
5. The Bone collector (has a first person POV from the killer) has several narrators/POV.
I would love a list of first person POV thrillers with emphasis on the killer that’s my jam also!
Love reading your list
Great list!
@@etamommy I agree about the law parts. I have to tell my friends to slog through the first few chapters because most get off put initially
Wasn’t The Collector a movie?
Probably, but I don't keep up with adaptations
Starring Terrance Stamp and Samantha Egger.Great movie.
I’m going to check out dark places
I appreciate reading your own recommendations
Stolen tongues, Felix Blackwell amazing book
I am surprised PRETTY GIRLS isn't on your list 📃😱
Loooooooved I'M THINKING OFF ENDING THINGS ❤
Yeah I prefer False Witness...it's probably an Unpopular opinion
@@TheShadesofOrange Everyone prefers something different, that's fine.I have not read either of them, but PRETTY GIRLS is high on my list.Would you still recommend it?
@@tiboraranyossi9263 yeah it just falls second to False Witness and not high enough to make my 15
No Catriona Ward?
I have a complicated (Unpopular) relationship with that author 😬
False Witness is her best
If I look for thriller I don’t want necessarily some horror in it
How Old are you ?
I am ashamed to say that i haven't read any of these!!! Although i do own several
Well you might have to change that!
@@TheShadesofOrange yes, I need to!
I wasn't trying to make an essential list but my own very personal favs (which you are certainly allowed to disagree with)
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Hi there Hi there
Im thinking of endings things us the worst book that I've ever read. If i could have set it on fire i would have done it but it was an ebook. It was the worst book I've ever read. I love Gillian Flynn and Jennifer Hillier and have read all of their books but this book was the worst I've ever read.
Yeah I love it, but I know it's an Unpopular Opinion. More people agree with you
Thank you for your help with books but all your choices are all about stalking ppl😂😂
Haha... you noticed that trend did you? Apparently it's my thing 😅
👀👹☠🔪🔪🔪
There is nothing new on this list. I really appreciate your taste, but many of your lists are so repetitive. Gone Girl. Seriously?
Honest question: how would I change this video without being disingenuous? Because yes these are my all time favourite thrillers, including GG (which you are free to dislike)
glasses cute af teeth not so much
So unnecessary!!!
