The Maserati Levante Diesel features as the next car in my video series with Pendle Leasing, taking a look at cars that are slightly more obtainable and in this case for a luxury upmarket SUV. To collect the Levante, I head out to HR Owen Maserati in St Albans, where the 275PS/600Nm diesel car is awaiting me, and it's one that comes with some very solid leasing options that you can see here: www.pendlelease.co.uk/shmee150
I don't understand why there's so much hate going on about this car! Why do we somehow justify Porsche for making the Cayenne and everyone else is eating hate being expressed with the words "the Cayenne copycat"? If that's the recipe for success (practical, quality cars!) then we shouldn't mind! The Levante is what a Cayenne is in the Porsche line-up: a car for people who think a GranTurismo is impractical and a Ghibli is too understated! Stop being preoccupied and badge-dependent and learn how to judge properly! We already misjudge people!
Because it's a cash cow. It's meant to JUST make them money. Fiat is misusing the Maserati badge and name in an attempt to push out less than mediocre cars, at a high price level, and sell people on the fact that they have a Maserati-badge.
+Automotive Joy Yeah, that was about 30-35 years ago. And Maser was under some Argentinian man's ownership, after Citroen bankrupt. To be honest, I just don't see something bad with the latest Maseratis (except only for the ''Ghibli'' name misuse! The GranTurismo should've been called the Ghibli!)! Looks, check! Quality, check! Technology, check! Good engines, check! Competitive prices, check!
Not gonna discuss looks as it's always subjective. I find it reminiscent of a Qashqai more than anything else. Quality however can be discussed. It's full of switchgear from ancient Dodges. The window controls for a starter are straight out of a Dodge Dart. There's no justifying that in a car in this segment. Which tech do you speak of? The ancient infotainment system? It sounds great though.
Yea that is very true. The Porsche Cayenne is built on a platform shared by the brilliant Q7 and the Bentayga aswell. The infotainment in the Cayenne is spot on, overall materials are great. It is very German. This Pile of shit is owned by Fiat which are owned by Chrysler and they make the worst cancerous shit the universe has ever seen. My foot is a more useful infotainment. I mean, we can all agree that the carbon inside is tachy as fuck. And oh! Forgot to mension the depreciation
Love this kind of SUVs, and also like when you show the small details of the car, gotta say that not all your videos are quite like this, you went in-dept at some details of the interior.
Maserati Levante is the coolest SUV today. These guys with their Chrysler arguments are really funny. What about VW involvement in Audi, Bentley, Porsche...
Shane Earley I will always choose Ferrari before Lamorghini, Maserati before Porsche, Alfa Romeo before Audi and FIAT before VW. FCA is just making nicer cars and they didn't cheat.
g00dfeeling with all due respect it sounds like you may have a fanboy attitude. What I mean is you appear to go entirely by the badge instead of the quality of the car. For example one massive criticism with the current Maserati's is the cheap tacky interiors and parts from Chrysler. A similar Range Rover Sport HSE 3.0 TDV6 is a better quality item than this Maserati Levante.
Shane Earley I don't care for couple of cheaper parts in interior. Italian cars as concepts are in general the best cars in the world. Levante is even nice than Range Rover. Audi or MB simply cannot be comared as they are too dull.
g00dfeeling well I would care. If I forked out all that money I would want it to be the best car they can build and not to sit in it looking a feeling cheap materials. The Range Rover Sport is the superior luxury SUV by comparison, ask anyone.
It is overlooked and should be. I understand that Maserati is breaking out of its traditional italian luxury sports petrol cars, to sell to a broader market in Asia, to survive as a brand. But, these cars will never hold their value nor contribute into the image Maserati has built over the years. So i dont see any point in someone buying a diesel Maserati, other than the name, when you can buy a much better actual german diesel rather than this german wannabe.
and as shmee him self said, its not the fastest not the best...but, but its just an ok alternative to an x5 with a Maserati badge, a premium and worst reliability
musicfanIV, it's not like Maserati is denying you to buy the petrol engine. except for those countries where it was impossible to import it, in that case head towards your parliament.
danI43541 the diesels are part of the problem. They kinda dilute the image of Maserati. And Maserati s always had problems but their problems was their flare, their personality, their temperament... With the shift to a more wide target market with the addition of these diesel's, they've in many cases lost the badge essence. Italian cars where never practical nor perfect but their imperfections made them desirable
Did he say Higher quality clock? and mentioned something about a porche clock earlier? Maserati clockes are world famous as an icon of class! I always dreamed of owning a Maserati and finally got mine last week 🙂. Absolutely stunning vehicle its everything Ive always wanted.
This is basically a Jeep Grand Cherokee in an Italian suit. Remember, both are FCA vehicles. Maserati Levante £56,250 vs Jeep Grand Cherokee Ltd £47,580. Save the extra $, and buy the Jeep. It'll (probably) depreciate less and be cheaper to service. Note: I'm not saying there's anything wrong with Jeeps (well, they've had reliability issues, but never mind that). I'm saying a Maserati should be MUCH more unique to it's FCA brethren.
Bob808 do you know the meaning of downmarket strategy? this is a pure Maserati, FCA is a group, it has nothing to do with its brands, except to share already-approved best-in-class parts between them. the jeeps are cheaper because italian workers get payed decent wage, differently.
Bob808 you would pay 48k for a jeep but are too cheap to pay 56k for a Maserati that's the same size but more powerful and luxurious and attractive....??
Willy Willy: I guess I am too cheap, or simply Australian... let me explain. I just checked insurance premiums for both vehicles here in Aus, $5150 for the Maserati, $1920 for the Jeep. Not to mention the HUGE price difference ($197,000 Maserati vs $93,000 Jeep) So for a vehicle that is (essentially) a daily run about, with the same drivetrain and electronics, I would chose the cheaper option.
I love the style, looking of levante, i really do. The grill and headlights are so well designed and it looks far far better than macan if they were compared. (actually hate macan) But what the hell is with the interior? ok. The steering wheel and bucket semi-bucket seats are great, but cheap plastic? And... not-centered steering wheel in position to seat? How could you lose that up on mass production vehicle?
Hi again Shmee! Would you rather go for a luxurious GT car with a considerable amount of horsepower and torque like the Nissan GTR / Mercedes - Benz AMG GTR or would you go for a car that was built for drag - racing like the Bugatti Chiron? Just asking
Cool looking car but not to fussed about the interior especially with all the Chrysler parts that everyone complains about. I'd rather buy a 4.4 V8 diesel Range Rover Sport
I like the Maserati brand, but so far their products aren't giving me much interest. At first I love all of their products due to their prestige logo and flair, yet most of their models had stayed constantly the same since I was a young boy. Their Granturismo was by far my dream car. However, they fail to upgrade it ever since a decade ago especially the interior. As my second car, I chose to go for the Porsche brand. Hopefully in the future Maserati will innovate their products that will enhance their sportiness and attain their full potential that exceeds German and British sport brands.
would be nice to see the new Nissan Qashqai compared to this, since that costs almost half the money and is available soon (Q3 2017?). For a car as expensive as this, the new Alfa Romeo looks so much better on the inside and looks like it is a lot faster too. Would save up some more money and buy a Jaguar instead...
This cars interior is suprisingly similar to the Peugoet 3008 and im sure it is going to really similar to the Alfa Romeo Stelvio as they are both part of the Fiat group

Shmee150 first
Shmee150, are you ever going to add a SUV to your fleet? Which one on the market right now intrigues you?
Good question, can't wait for the Aston Martin SUV to be released that's for sure. I think the Lamborghini Urus is also intriguing
can you do a video about the new mercedes amg glc 63s
Shmee150 i really want you to take a look at this doesn't the levante look a little similar to the cx-5

Anthony Jordan You just proved my point.

Frameless windows are gorgeus 😍
Yes, somehow I missed talking about that, one of the coolest features and rare on an SUV.
This is one of my dream cars! I know nothing about cars, I'm a random guy who like good looking and comfortable cars. This is definitely one of them.
they nailed the looks on the levante, great vid!!!
It lookes like an obese mazda mx-5...
LFGstockades yeah it's true, but its still looks good
What about the new Volvo XC60? - Headlights are v similar as well as the shape
Lewis Barnard yeah the xc60 is good, but i think the levante is more special
In 2 Days I will gonna pick up my new Levante S.
Your review helped me to make my desicion. ;)
Good looking SUV. Also, enjoy your detailed reviews, especially going over the interior which other car reviewers hardly ever go over.
Love this kind of SUVs, and also like when you show the small details of the car, gotta say that not all your videos are quite like this, you went in-dept at some details of the interior.
18:12 did you lock yourself in the back seat LMAO
Maserati Levante is the coolest SUV today. These guys with their Chrysler arguments are really funny. What about VW involvement in Audi, Bentley, Porsche...
g00dfeeling VW make good quality parts that's why they are used in all VW motor group cars including lambo's
Shane Earley I will always choose Ferrari before Lamorghini, Maserati before Porsche, Alfa Romeo before Audi and FIAT before VW. FCA is just making nicer cars and they didn't cheat.

Nice to see that you test "regular" cars also! Thumbs up!
shmee is the type of guy to review a maserati levante diesel on a nice day
Did he say Higher quality clock? and mentioned something about a porche clock earlier? Maserati clockes are world famous as an icon of class! I always dreamed of owning a Maserati and finally got mine last week 🙂. Absolutely stunning vehicle its everything Ive always wanted.
Quality content, as always.
I find these mid-high range car reviews a lot more interesting than the boyish supercar videos for kids.
Can't wait for the ford gt or the Amg gtr.
THANKS TIM AND CREW
This car is just different from every other SUV, has a lot more character and style.
Can´t wait to see how the new coupes and convertibles from Maserati will be.
It sounds really funny but I am actually enjoying these Diesel reviews.
never change your intro
1 million subs in sight....7 k to go!
Is that the 4th Gen Uconnect touchscreen with Apple CarPlay?
i hope you will ever get one of these as your bagage car
Shmee150 educational video :) I had no idea that this car even exists ...

I am sucker for watches! What watch are you wearing? Awesome content! Cheers 😏
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeah! we want hot hatches for the next videos!! \o/
Luckily even in UK should soon get the 430 hp 3.0 V6 petrol engine Levante S and in the future, the Levant GTS.
Cool, I live and work in St Albans Shmee150, come check out Kings Hill Jewellery next time you come through.
@Shmee150 Could you do a review on a Renault Talisman? I find your reviews more interesting than other reviews.
potential video: What to upgrade to from your first car?
Is this really a paid promotion? Cause it said in my screen Includes paid promotion.
He mentions the place that had given him the car for the video, so I'd expect that the promotion was from them.
Loved the video and the car too
Odd that they called it the Levante. Same name as the standard coach body for National Express for over a decade now
I got a suggestion. How about you replace your Ferrari FF to the Maserati Levante. White looks beautiful.
I think you should give a try to the '16 Shelby GT350, I'm sure you'll be pleasantly surprised!

Are you struggeling to open the door at 18:11? Sounds like you pulled the door handle three times ;) xD
Maybe review some Japanese mid range to luxury SUV? Lexus or Mazda CX-9 maybe?
It's Maserati. Will be 1/4th of the price in few years ;)
Hi again Shmee!
Would you rather go for a luxurious GT car with a considerable amount of horsepower and torque like the Nissan GTR / Mercedes - Benz AMG GTR or would you go for a car that was built for drag - racing like the Bugatti Chiron? Just asking
Don't get me wrong i'm a maserati fan, but this car got nothing to do with maserati.... this is not even near from what maserati stands for...
I would love to see you take a look at the new Volvo XC90
car did a quick DAB at 16:47 lol
It does look good, but it dosen't look like a 2017 model. Maybe more 2012-2013 ish...
Ludvig Oftedal Vinje i m agree with you
Did he locked himself at 18:12 ? :D lmao 😂😂😂😂
Nice Car, Shmee did you leave the child lock on in the back and lock yourself in? LOL Good review as ever =)
Someone owns this car on my street, makes a beautiful rumble
Yo shmee! what about the Range Rover 4.4 SDV8?
Hey Tim, random question but how much did the carbon badges on your Astons cost?
peterjames847 on the GT8 they come as standard
Maybe you could have a look at a Skoda Superb L&K with the 2.0 TSI.
Please shmee ! What is the name of glasses you wear?!
Oakley sunglasses
Tim please test drive Alpina B5 Biturbo!!!
who will win in a qtr mile race, porsche cayenne diesel or the maserati diesel?
When are you going to do a video of the Cupra 300?
Shmee150 by any chance you get locked in the back at around 18:13 ? :)
what offers a better driving experience between the Aston gt8 and the Cayman gt4
Maserati is an amazing brand that needs more respect. All these haters in the comments need to look at the car in a different perspective.
Plus, name another luxurious car that is sporty as well.
@@adityaamraotkar5036 porsche
could you get your hands on a Lexus LC 500 please?
Cool looking car but not to fussed about the interior especially with all the Chrysler parts that everyone complains about. I'd rather buy a 4.4 V8 diesel Range Rover Sport
good review

Shares a lot of switch gear and infotainment from Chrysler/Dodge vehicles.
1 mil hype!
Hello Shmee!
would be nice to see the new Nissan Qashqai compared to this, since that costs almost half the money and is available soon (Q3 2017?). For a car as expensive as this, the new Alfa Romeo looks so much better on the inside and looks like it is a lot faster too. Would save up some more money and buy a Jaguar instead...
hi shmee I'm guys
Hi guys, I'm Shmee
Lmao
eyyyyyyyyy xD
Hi guys, Im xXx_mlgquickscoper-uberlord-420blazedankkushm9_xXx
This cars interior is suprisingly similar to the Peugoet 3008 and im sure it is going to really similar to the Alfa Romeo Stelvio as they are both part of the Fiat group
time to trade in the evoque. Ive been waiting on a Stelvio but now im in 2 minds
why haven't you checked the ghibli yet?
Shmee can you do a video on the new Range Rover Velar?
Does someone know the brand/model of Tim's watch?
Do a video on Audi Q7
When Maserati Will do a New model of the Granturismo?
I personly like the RS6 so much, but i think everybody knows about that car. I suggest the Rolls Royce Ghost!
in other words, lease it because it'll depreciate like a mofo
Like this for a review of the RANGE ROVER SVAUTOBIOGRAPHY! Yes!
Come to nz, it never gets overlooked because you see them everywhere..common to see 15 different ones most days
Wow, amazing it's so popular down there!
Shmee150 it is, and we also have a great array of Supercars scattered around. This includes a one-77 and an f1 to name two good ones
How it compares to the Stelvio?
A badly made Maserati doesn't surprise me, it's traditional Maserati. We like them because they're cool (which i appreciate is a hard thing to quantify) & the fact they're not a Ferrari. Maserati still has that certain something. When you get in one you can still imagine being Juan Manuel Fangio.
Please show us more luxury cars :)
Review the new Lexus NX SUV. It looks so cool with all of its sharp lines. I think it looks better than this SUV and is only half the cost.
Have you heard something from Porsche about the 911 GT3?
Nope nothing
Shmee150 maybe you can look on the porsche website and configure the new 911 GT3?
At 9.45, is that the bonnet riding over the the bottom of windscreen - surely thats going to get black and dirty. Not keen on that at all. Other than that and a fair bit of elephant bum plastic on the dash, its not too bad. Not convinced I would spend that kind of money on it just for the badge though.
Do a 718 cayman s or boxter review if you can!
:)
I forgot your email so please allow me to write here:
Tim, great advertisement for us!
Please be careful tough! I had a good laugh about 'super-critical' but the steering wheel is terrible, even we know that.
Seriously, there was no ADVERTISEMENT warning on this video. I know that nobody will notice but who knows, please consider mixing in some more really critical content or how about some more time with this leasing story you like so much?
Please be careful, just recently a German UA-camr was fined a 5 digit amount for the very same thing you just did. Very sad.
Keep up with the good work for us!
Thank you.
There is a warning in the lower corner and there are no ads on the video.
When is Aston Martin joining to the SUV party?
Let's hope soon :)
Looking good
I like it.
do a review of fiat 500 lounge or sport or pop star...
So you're gonna do more affordableish-cars videos 7-9 months apart?
Adam Andersson i don't think that he has a schedule...
I'd like to see you reviewing a Range Rover Autobiography; you've not done much with Range Rover in the past.
it took two trained engineers to try and figure out why it spontaneously combusted, and they still don't know
Pretty sure this is just exactly the same as the new Volvo XC60 or is that just me?
Is it a Mazda or Jaguar? Or top of the line Dacia Duster?
Make a video of any type of mercedes
what is better, the porsche macan diesel or this maserati diesel?
This is more sized like a Cayenne than the Macan
