In case you are unsure of what size to get, here are my measurements for reference.
Height- 5'9
Weight- 166 lbs
Waist- 32 inches
Hips- 34 inches
Chest- 38 1/2 inches
Shoulders- 17 1/2 inches
Arm Length- 32 inches
Neck- 15 1/2 inches
I have the Filson Tin cloth Field Jacket with the mackinaw liner. One thing I'll mention: it's the heaviest coat I own.
Definitely has some weight to it
Keep in mind that the wax will make the coat colder in very cold weather than an unwaxed coat. I learned this by putting 8 zillion heavy coats of Obenaufs on my Kinco heavy ski gloves.
Love your videos!
Awesome jacket I have the same one, only I don't have the wool liner, jacket looks great during cloudy days and for light rain on cool days, I have seepage when it pours though. You could get pretty sweaty wearing this if the day is warmer and humid though.
Love these vids, being able to hear someone talking about these products before dishing out the money
i realize I am quite off topic but do anyone know of a good website to stream newly released series online ?
@Hassan Ruben Flixportal :P
@Enrique Charles Thank you, I went there and it seems like a nice service :) Appreciate it !
@Hassan Ruben Happy to help :)
@@hassanruben1019 ?😂
I add wax on my brass zippers to make them smooth as well that looks warm plus the water and mud resistance but I question the waxing how long each waxing will last
Awesome review thanks buddy 🙂
Hope all is well. Can’t wait for new vids. Be blessed.
I’d asked on another video, but if you were headed out into the bush during winter, not sure what weather you’d face, and staying for weeks, but you’ll be moving around and not able to bring more than you’d carry; what would you choose to wear?
Great stuff have you tried a Bemidji woolen mills mackinaw jacket?
Just love the video's man keep them up
Hi! Nice video. I'm curious about getting a wool jacket liner. Do you know of any other companies making similar, thick wool jacket liners? Thanks!
Makes me want to move north.
Thnxs
Dude please do a vid on the knife by itself, you wear it in almost every vid and alot of folks want to see it me included as im am thinking of getting one but would like to see some in hand close-ups before pulling the trigger!! Nice vid👍
What wax would you recommand?
Is the wool liner or their pirmaloft jacket liner warmer?
Thanks for the review! I have the Packer Coat and although I love the quality itself I'm pretty disappointed with how the cape bunches in the back. You can see what I mean by going to 5:09 in the video. Does this eventually "settle" or fall flat once you finally break the coat in? It's such a great coat other than this small detail but I'm tired of looking like I'm hiding wings whenever I wear this.
I’m not to sure I haven’t broke mine in yet, sorry
I added a stitch to the bottom middle of the "cape" on the back, and a stitch on each side of the flap at the bottom. Looks much better now. I just used a needle and thread.
Mine is pretty relaxed only because I wore a back pack for a while as I wore the jacket.
Is this a 44
Is that a large for filson
So I'm really considering getting Filson's Single Mackinaw Cruiser.
I've come across several comments recently saying in short that: 1) Filson recently got bought out and their quality has since gone downhill while their prices have climbed; 2) that the Mackinaw jacket in particular is not as thick and thus as warm as the same jackets of the past. Any thoughts or personal experience about these 2 comments from anyone? Thanks in advance.
And I appreciate your wool clothing reviews!
Personally I have no older mackinaw cruisers to compare my newer ones to at this point but I can tell you the newer ones I do have are very warm and quality made but yes with a high price tag. This would be a good question to post to the ‘filson owners club’ group on Facebook, there are some very knowledgeable people in that group who collect vintage pieces and would be able to answer that for you. Hope this helps!
@@wildforwool3821 Thanks for sharing your experience; I will check out that FB group! Best to you.
I have two of the newer ones, I couldn't find any faults on mine.
However, the plaid is slightly softer and denser (listed as 26oz wool). My solid color is a bit fluffier and scratchier (listed 24oz wool)
Ciano Farmer😉the best
A large means nothing unless we know how tall and how much you weigh. Thanks!
I always post my measurements in the description box. Thanks
I also stated my weight at the end of the video. Didn’t watch till the end I take it?
@@wildforwool3821 ive ordered jackets on line , then they are to big or what have you , tryin to figure size on the tin coat, is yours to big could you have been better with a long medium, and could they b tailored ?
Anyway never been a fashion or clothes guy, but have frozen in ontario hunting, scared game on bow season with synthetic clothes making noise, now view clothes like this like tools, thanks for the vid , just subscibed
Perfect! How do you feel about Pendleton button down shirts?
I haven’t tried one yet. I’ve been wanting to get one for a while tho. I’ll order one soon and test it out
@@wildforwool3821 awesome! Keep up the good work!
I own about a dozen, they’re great. Perfect shirt where I live in the Central Oregon mountains. Very warm but breathes well if it’s too hot out.
I've been using them for years. They do supply Filson with their wool, most of the Mackinaw Wool colorways (there is a mill in Canadia that supplies it also).
They're good quality. 10oz I believe. Wool is borderline on the scratchy side but still very comfortable. They discontinue most of the colorways every year and introduce new ones every year.
Unfortunately, your options are rather limited for wool shirts. But I'd say get one of two.
You think it’s possible to put a larger liner in a medium jacket
I believe you can. The zippers won’t have the same amount of teeth as one another though
Hello mister ! like you own tin cloth garment i have one question about it, is tin cloth material ensure to be dry skin in despite of heavy rain or not ? thanks in advance
If you oil it regularly than yes it should keep you dry in heavy rain.
Have any extra inner liner jackets? Need one for the packer I just bought
Not any extra ones. Sorry my friend
@@wildforwool3821 no worries at all, bud. just thought I’d ask. It’s hard to find those buggers. They want almost as much used as they are new these days. some times as much as new.
What size is your shirt ? I'm 5'11 feet and 176 Ibs. Thank you in advance.
I’m wearing a medium, I’m 5’9 150lbs
I got that coat in a size small and was really disappointed with how short the sleeves were. About a full 2” shorter than they should be, while the body of the coat was absolutely huge. Are they making these for hobbits or what?
the material can stretch. I have mine clamped to my workbench stretching out right now. I have really long arms, and would have bought a tall size, but the coat was given to me. I was able to get a few inches of stretch out of the sleeves when I clamped one sleeve and pulled hard on the other for a while. Might be worth a try.
@@jjc7350 cotton canvas has a very negligible amount of stretch.
I have gotten some stretch out of it for sure. I will be leaving it stretched for a few days, and then see how much of it lasts. Even if I have to do it every once in a while, it will be better than it was.
I was able to get each sleeve 1 3/4” longer. It appears that cotton can be stretched. Was certainly worth doing.
Good video .. The liner is nice but the coat is so stiff , looks like you’re wearing a card board box . I guess it will loosen up and break in after a season of wear
Looks like it would fit me great. Let me know if you wanna give it to me 🤣
I have a medium long with tags if you want to trade?
Sorry for the late response. That’s kind of you. Do you have the liner with it to? Doesn’t fit you right or?
@@wildforwool3821 I got it online thinking it was a medium but turned out to be a medium xl. I was going to give it to my father in law but it’s a little snug on him and was gonna try and find someone with a large. I have the vest liner in medium but that ended up fitting well and I have that in my mile marker coat.
I have one for sale in size large if anyone is interested.
Killer Kleidung.
Filson, presented by... RAGNAR!!
150-160 lbs...you should gat the medium. Looks like you're swimming in that jacket to me
These clothes are too expensive for this channel to be sustainable. XD
Man that jacket is way to big fo ya, sell it to me.
Dick
@@aitormendizabal8473 ok, big man, nobody asked what you had for breakfast, sit down, you bout to get hurt .
@@Simonfnp agree with you. Double layer sticks out at the back, due to his back width not fitting it. I must be a dick as well.
Filson is no longer USA made
You are swimming in that jacket. Way too big.
