How to Clean Dura-Bright® Wheels

Three easy steps to clean your Dura-Bright wheels! Dura-Bright® Wheels are the no-polish,
easy-maintenance way to bright, shiny wheels that stay that way when properly maintained. Because the Dura-Bright® production process penetrates the aluminum, these wheels keep their shine, even after hundreds of washes and thousands of miles - without polishing. Since Dura-Bright® Wheels clean easily with mild soap and water, they eliminate the need for harsh cleaning products, further protecting the environment and reducing maintenance costs.
Are Dura-Bright® Wheels Right for You?
Dura-Bright® Wheels are best suited for individuals who desire a polished look with less commitment to daily cleaning maintenance. Dura-Bright® Wheels are maintained best with a standard neutral off-the-shelf car wash, or a mild (near neutral) detergent that has a pH between 3-11 for Dura-Bright® EVO or 5-9 for Dura-Bright® XBR and prior generations. Do not use strong acid or strong alkaline cleaning products on Dura-Bright® Wheels. For those who use third party facilities or operations (mobile wash systems or major truck wash facilities), be sure to remind the third party that you have Dura-Bright® Wheels and that they should use cleaning products that meet the specifications outlined in this cleaning guide. Do not use Hydrofluoric Acid (HF), Hydrochloric Acid (HCl) or Sulfuric Acid (H2SO4) on Dura-Bright® Wheels.
Step 1: Cool down
Before cleaning, allow the wheels to cool down to a temperature below 95° F (35° C).
Step 2: Pre-rinse To prevent scratching and abrasion, rinse wheels thoroughly with a water
hose or power washer to remove any loose and visible dirt/debris.
Step 3: Prepare cleaning solution
Add a mild detergent, like common liquid dish soap, to the water at the specified dilution ratio before applying to vehicle.
• The pH level should be 3-11 for Dura-Bright® EVO (5-9 for Dura-Bright® XBR) in diluted/ready-to-
use state.
• If using multiple solutions, each solution must fall within the pH range of 3-11 for Dura-Bright® EVO (5-9 for Dura-Bright® XBR).
• Do not use Hydrofluoric Acid (HF), Hydrochloric Acid (HCl) or Sulfuric Acid (H2SO4) on Dura-Bright® Wheels.
Step 4: Clean the wheel
Apply soap or detergent generously on wheel surface with either a spray applicator, a clean, soft bristled brush or soft sponge.
• Abrasive tools and scouring pads (e.g. 3M Scotch-Brite®) should not be used.
Step 5: Rinse the wheel
Rinse the wheel thoroughly with clean water to remove all remaining soap and dirt. Dry your wheels with a soft cloth that is free of debris

What is the advantage of Durabright wheels vs regular aluminum Alcoa wheels? If ease of cleaning is the only advantage it seems like a waste of money.

Mark when you're in a cut throat industry and everyone's after some pie it's best to also look the part, nice clean looking trucks are also good advertising it shows clients you're happy to do a little extra to stand out amongst the crowd however it's not suited to some vehicles that spend alot of time off road when it would defeat the purpose especially if running on haul roads that are constantly dirty dusty muddy or the like, horses for courses.

I drove a semi dump trailer and I used the acid sprayed it on rinsed it and buffed it piece of cake and inside you could eat off the floor 35 years of doing that

I will never ask my company to buy them ever again. Brand new truck deep wash every week. The wheels just gets worse as the weeks go on. Even auto smart guy couldn’t get them clean using RED 7. lessons learned unless you have a show pony truck that dose no work I would not bother
