    No absolutely not. This guy claiming to be “hardcore”, when in reality he’s probably never left Ohio. Speaking as a born and raised Ohioan, as well as a lifelong fan and graduate of Ohio State, believe me this guy does NOT speak for our fans.
    The rivalry absolutely matters, it’s such a part of our culture that we can’t escape it. But the greatest prize in CFB is a national championship. Shame on Rich (but also genius) for using this clown to further his narrative. I got so disgusted listening to this guy speak for our fans lol.

    The loss to Michigan was brutal in the moment, but National Championships trump all. To go from the lowest of lows to the top of the mountain just a few months later showcased incredible resiliency from the team and staff. Not being able to enjoy a National Championship because of a loss to a rival is absurd. You think Chiefs fans spend even an ounce of energy thinking about losing to the Raiders on Christmas last year after they won the Super Bowl?

    • @T_Man-mm9sz
      @T_Man-mm9sz 5 днів тому +4

      Trumps the Michigan loss, yes. Erases it, no. The 2014 season with the win over Michigan followed by the destruction of Wisconsin to win the Big10 title followed by the Natty was a MUCH more satisfying season. This season, the buckeyes went 1 for 3. The natty is the bigger achievement of the 3 possible achievements, but the buckeyes fell short on the other two goals. It was still a fine season.

    I am a OSU alum and have family that are born and raised in Ohio. I understand the rivalry as much as anyone but as one person here said I would rather lose to Michigan and win the national championship. One thing that is rarely mentioned in these talks is that 3 of the 4 losses to Michigan are under question in terms of the NCAA. Let’s see what happens when that case is finally settled. The lose this year was on Ryan but I want to see if the last three losses will even be counted against Ryan’s record. Time will tell and if they get wiped away Ryan’s legacy will be ever better and then we can assess things from there. I played and coached football and know if you know the plays before they happen that puts you in a much better position to win the game. So let’s see what happens when the NCAA finally settles the sign stealing case.
    As for the fan he accurately said he is on the fringe and does not speak for me. I am a proud Ryan Day supporter and would love to revisit this conversation once the infractions process concludes and the letter they sent to Michigan goes public and NCAA has their final say on the ruling of that case.

    Buckeye fan who never thought Day should be fired. I'm not stupid. That said, winning the Natty did not redeem him. ONE of the expectations is that THE Ohio State Buckeyes will win a Natty every decade or so. I understand why a Corn and Sadness fan wouldn't understand that considering you have only won 2.5 since the poll era began and had to cheat to get one of those. Day lived up the highest of the expectations this year, but he hasn't lived up to the minimum expectation. If he doesn't get the mental block out of his head about TTUN, he could have 10 championships and will still go down in history slightly above Cooper as "that coach who couldn't beat Bitchagain".

    Two things that made Ohio state winning the natty tolerable: first, notre dame fought hard and it wasn’t a blowout. I appreciated that.
    Second, this senior class never beat Michigan. So screw em. That’s going to hurt for way longer than the happiness of winning a natty will.

    Ohio State got screwed in 2019 by the refs against Clemson. 2020 Ohio State made the championship game but over 20 players were missing due to COVID. 2022 Ohio State lost to Georgia on a shanked FG to win the game in the semi final game. This year we finally broke through beating 4 playoff opponents in the toughest bracket to win the championship and hopefully we never look back From here on out.

    Buckeye QB Will Howard is probably the happiest player on that team. In one year since her transferred to Ohio State he managed to 1) Take revenge on Penn State since they did not recruit him as a Pennsylvania native 2) Defeat two SEC teams including Texas, whom he could not beat in 4 tries at Kansas State 3) Defeat #1 team Oregon at the Rose Bowl, decisively 4) Win a National Championship and 5) Sharpen and expand his QB skills at the highest levels against powerful teams, preparing himself to a career in the NFL

    It's not that hard to grasp.
    You have 3 objectives at Ohio State.
    1. Beat Michigan
    2. Win the Big Ten
    3. Win a National Championship
    It's in that order for a reason...
    You don't win a championship every year. It's just not feasible. Nick Saban has seriously poisoned your minds... On average an elite team/program will win a championship every 5 to 10 years. That's the very best programs.
    So the audacity of some folk saying this championship just wiped the last 4 years away and let's us just forget it, proves to me that this new generation of Ohio State fans are clowns. YOU NEVER ACCEPT LOSING TO MICHIGAN.... EVER.
    Those of you saying "the rivalry doesn't really matter anymore because Ohio State will always make the playoffs regardless" are spineless losers that are basically just saying "yes. We accept defeat. We can't beat Michigan. But hey, maybe we can rattle off a miracle like we did this season every season moving forward!"
    Do you hear how delusional that sounds?
    Having Ryan Day as a head coach is like being in a relationship with a girl who has cheated on you for the past 4 years... But as soon as you are about to break up with her, she wins the lottery.
    Are you still staying with her just because of a new found riches?

    • @ReggieAprile
      @ReggieAprile 5 днів тому +1

      Uhhhh it’s in that order not because of priority, but rather the sequence in which those things occur lol. Your view is far too regional if you place The Game above a national championship. Ideally you win both but the natty is objectively more important.

    • @DERodgers
      @DERodgers 5 днів тому

      @ReggieAprile nobody is putting the national championship below Michigan. Clearly you missed the entire point that I just laid out.
      You don't win championships every season. That's not realistic. It is realistic to demand to beat Michigan every year and win big ten titles.
      Ohio State has done all 3 of those things on a consistent basis well before Day took the job.
      It's not that hard to grasp.
      You have to beat Michigan. Period.
      That's it.

    A lot of these pseudo, delusional, fair-weather fans who insist that The Game is all that matters seem to take their cue from Woody, who lo and behold each year around Thanksgiving time always said the same thing- but guess what- in Woody's day if you didn't beat Michigan the season was automatically over and you didn't- and except for very late in his run- couldn't appear in a bowl game, because there was only one that you were allowed to compete in and it was up to the wire services to determine if your win in The Rose Bowl was big enough for a vote. So in his mind the first and most important step was winning The Game. Do you really think, delusional fans, that Woody would have felt bad for winning this Natty after losing to Michigan? Woody would have almost certainly tossed his headset into the stands before celebrating his Gator-Ade shower.

    Caller Michael is right, Ryan Day does have this tendency. As soon as his team is 2 TD ahead. he orders his team to stop playing, both on Offense and Defense. He is always playing scared and very conservative in big games. There are many of us, Buckeyes, who share Michael's remarks and even more than what he said. Ryan Day lacks the Killer's Instinct. Against Michigan he was obsessed with proving he has a tough team, rather than using his excellent receivers to win the game. His mindset is almost always "play not to lose," NOT play to win or win big and decisively

    • @brennan.s.mccafferty
      @brennan.s.mccafferty 4 дні тому

      Completely untrue. If you are "always" playing scared and very conservative in big games, then you don't throw a deep ball on 3rd and 11 with less than 3 minutes on the clock and the game on the line. You would run the ball and punt it away on 4th down and force Notre Dame to try and score. That would have been the conservative game call.
      Against Tennessee (one of the most important games in Day's career), Ohio State was up 28-10 in the 3rd quarter. They were up by 3 scores. But what happened next? Ohio State TD at the end of the 3rd quarter to make it 35-10 and then TD in the 4th quarter to make it 42-10. That's not "ordering his team to stop playing."
      Against Oregon, Ohio State was up 17 points in the 2nd quarter (up by 3 scores). What happened next? Ohio State TD to make it 24-0. Then another Ohio State TD to make it 31-0. Then an Ohio State FG to make it 34-0. That is called a killer instinct.

    • @JJJJ-he8bz

      Well ask the 6 top 10s they beat about that “killer instinct” ask Oregon and Tennessee who were beat by halftime about it.
