One of the best roles I had in Medical Device Sales was the TAVR Clinical Specialist for Medtronic (Edwards Lifesciences and Abbott are all great companies too!). This role differs from the previous role I highlighted (Pacemaker Clinical Specialist) in that you have less patient interaction in the cardiology clinic; however, this offers high level physician and Cath/Lab OR interaction. Additionally, this role scrubs into the operating suite to prep and load the surgical heart valve... One of last roles in Medical Device where you are scrubbing in!
I'll take you through a typical day in the life of the TAVR clinical specialist where we support two TAVR procedures, discuss recent data at a cardiology office, and perform a tailored heart analysis for a patient with CT/X-ray images. This role falls under the structural heart umbrella, which is a really exciting business unit to be a part of because it is innovative, new technology, minimally invasive, and a fast growing field.
In this video, you'll get an insider's look in this vital role we play for these patients and Cardio-thoracic Surgeons / Interventional Cardiologists who we support! Whether you're considering a career in medical devices, are curious about pacemakers, or simply want to learn more about the Medical Device field, this video is for you!
