  • This was a 25 mile ride with Mr. S. Mr. S has a newer recumbent trike that is all black. This is a section of the trail that is a lot of riders That enjoy riding the Falls of the Neuse River Trail are OK to avoid because it is a very challenging 2 mile at uphill at about a 10% incline, and you will see the incline from mr s camera view. But it's also fun going down the hill. What interesting about the recumbent trike you look at the trike and you think that it would be difficult to go up the hills, but at 30lbs it not that bad. A lot of people asked me was it like going uphill on a recumbent trike versus Adam dime frame bike. I think the big difference for me is that you are using different parts of your legs to power up the hill.
    On this ride we are moving along at a nice click. When Mr. S and I ride together we have a lot of synergies and we really push one another. One of my buddies are used to ride with he had an electric rip and we would move at 17/19 mph. I have been fortunate to have run across him on the Neuse River trail. What I think you will I love how you get the opportunity to see me riding through the chance to see me leaning into the curves. Please excuse Mr. S's foot in the camera view. This was a fun, fun ride! We kill it on this ride. I was feeling great on this ride. You will see me with the head bobbing. You know how when you are eating something good and you wiggle your toes. I think when it's a great ride I start bobbing back and forth to show my enjoyment. I have not rode in 4 weeks. It’s been cold and I recently moved. But I got a treat for this channel that I think y’all are going to love, and I’m not giving you any clues, just stay tune to this channel.

    I like to know if you are still riding. I live in Phoenix Az. And it’s February and the temperature is great during this time of the year.. I have a Terra Trike All Terrain the my constant speed is about 8 mph. I could go a little faster but it’s hard to maintain. We don’t have many hills here. But in the summer the temperatures will drain you. I would like to see more videos to inspire me to ride more often. I’m retired military and the Air Force base is 12 miles from where I live. At 72 years of age it’s hard to just get started. I’m just riding in my neighborhood and the park by my home… until I build my stamina up enough to go on farther rides. Looking for more videos. Blessings to you.

    We bought a Catrike 559 eCat for my wife a month ago and I’m getting my standard 559 next month. Bought them from The Bike Guy on the Greenway. Hopefully we’ll see you out riding.

    I enjoyed hearing the comparison between the recumbent trike and an upright bike, thank you for your comments.

      @@themotivatedrider3840 Slow and stady, you will make it, I have a lot ppl I subscribed and watch there video, but only my problem was, I can't afford to buy even model KMX trike, because the price to expensive, online market in Malaysia there order from overseas, went Malaysia money convert to USD it will trepel. I suppose to make my own vlog this year to make a vlog my ride and promote me and my wife business.

    Great video and ride. Looks like your weather is really cooperating so far this winter. It is a great idea having your buddy trail you to video you and the trip. Good thinking. I have found that the inclines have gotten a heck of a lot easier over time and I actually enjoy the challenges and successful completions. Plenty of great hills in New England but Florida is flat and boring so I find myself riding a lot more miles and at a higher speed to get the same workout. I have found that riding in my highest gear really builds strength, power and endurance, having a 30 speed Catrike 559 makes it great to downshift when hitting the big hills , keep the same or higher cadence and really keep speed in the climbs and just power through them. Being clipped in for added efficiency and be able to push back in the recumbent position I find it much more efficient than standing up on the standard Diamond frame. We can climb anything and much more safely. There is no wobbling and weaving on a trike. Keep riding and posting. I hope to catch up with you on my ride back north this April. Best wishes.

    Daily I do hills upto 15% gradient, not hard atall on the trike, I have altered the gearing though. It was hard climbing a 30% gradient though. On the ICE Sprint X Tour have a rohloff hub and 44-32-22 chanrings. I prefer climbing on my bicycles though as faster. What I do not like on the trike though is that with marathon plus tires, the rear end loses traction on rough road at speed on bends.

    Great ride, George. Our weather has gotten cold (-30's) So I've set up indoors where it is always a balmy 68. Some extended ride videos of about 45 minutes to an hour would be nice to watch while I'm pedaling hard but going nowhere.

    Trike as transportation is a really interesting video focus to me George. Try to make at least one or two of your videos on that subject accessible to total lay-people (you know, explain that it's a recumbent trike and works well for Everyone, but also is an aid to those with balance/fall issues/concerns, not necessarily you), and I can share it with my Climate Crisis peeps. I'm an organizer for the Sierra Club and we're working to radically reduce Vehicle Miles Traveled, through Active Transportation (biking and walking) and get people to use public mass transit for their longer traveling.

    • @themotivatedrider3840
      @themotivatedrider3840  3 роки тому

      KarlinSanDiego, thanks for sharing. I feel that if I could intergrate my recumbent trike or velomobile into everyday transportation I will never have to exercise because it will be a way of life. That is my goals so hopefully I can do some videos on everyday transit. Obviously some area are more prepared then some.I also think it a cool way to give back to the planet.

      @@karlInSanDiego maybe that’s a sign, but I don’t have a velomobile but it’s definitely a plan so when next winter comes to nc I will be enclosed.
