Shohei Otani should win the MVP every year but he won't. The league will have to spread it around. But, no one has done what he has done in over 100 years. And he does it better that the only other person to do it. Babe Ruth. Babe Ruth didn't do that very long. He went on to become a fielder and made his everlasting mark in home runs. So, I think Ohtani should win it every year he plays like this
he is the best athlete who ever walked the planet.

@@marvinreacts2227 I'm a fan who truly loooves Soccer/football AND baseball and basketball and watch also a lot of American football, so I looove making cross-sports comparisons lol
But Ohtani to non-baseball viewers is really hard to describe just how INSANE he is, as he's literally doing something that even video games you couldn't create a plaeyr like him b/c even in video games developers didn't think of allowing players to play both
I love Leo Messi, he's the GOAT, and man he's done soem ridiculous stuff on the pitch. But I think we ALL can acknowledge that there have been players *like* him before - and his own countryman at that in Maradona, and others in a similar archetype. Same goes for the other greats, like also w/ CR7 in the same era you had guys playing very similarly in terms of playstyle w/ Robben etc, and also nowadays w/ Son, Salah etc.
Same w basketball - MJ is the GOAT, but before him there still were a lot of high-scoring sg/sf type guys as well, and ofc after him you had a LOOOT of guys that were "like Mike" w/ Kobe especially. Bron too - before him there was Grant Hill, there was Magic JOhnson who today would play a lot similar, and Bird as well.
There is nobody that's like breaking the very fabric of the game like Ohtani is doing though. Even Babe Ruth couldn't do both at the same time at an elite level for more than 1 season, his greatest seasons came after he stopped pitching and focused on hitting.
Like it's one thing to be the greatest in a sport (and Ohtanis STILL got a long way to go), but this is a whole-another thing in terms of how crazy it is. Many greats became great "conventionally" by just being...ridiculously good at what you're supposed to do, but Ohtani is doing something that people have never THOUGHT to do.
THere really is no point of comparison for Ohtani for other sportrs bc of how ridiculous it is. (and for a fluid sport like soccer/football ofc, bc everyone plays offense and edefense too - but the *only * comparison i *could* make is that goalie who also starts as starting no. 9s in other games and scores like that lol. And statistically, Ohtani pitches like a top 3 pticher in the league AND a top 3 hiitter - like it SERIOUSLY is the case that he is someone as good at pitching as like Manuel Neuer/Courtois/Alisson etc is at being a goalkeeper, AND he's good at hitting in the level of like Lewandowski, Mbappe, Haaland, Suarez few yrs ago, prime Van Nistelrooy, etc were at being strikers.
Pretty good comparison. Too many people get carried away saying he is like Messi on offense, but as great as he is, he's not close to GOAT production just for batting. He is one of the top among current players similar to Lewandowski. And when you combine that with ace pitching, that's why he could be on a GOAT trajectory.
@@panner11?From your comment, I am sure you don't follow baseball or MLB and you certainly don't really know about Shohei Ohtani especially about Shohei's stat since 2021 to now July 23 (pacific time) of USA. As a hitter, Shohei is presently (July 23,2023)leading MLB in OPS, Home runs, 3-base hits, Slugging. In American League, Shohei also ranks 2nd in RBI , 3rd in Hits, Runs, &Walks, and 5th in hitting average. By the way, Shohei has 162Homers in his MLB career so far, Shohei takes far less time of hitting over 150HR than Barry Bonds and Babe Ruth did! By the way Shohei also leads MLB in lowest hitting average as a pitcher while has the highest hitting average for extra base hits. That means Shohei is the most competitive baseball player in MLB and the biggest game changer in baseball games! That's why he led Japan to win the WBC championship 2023 and achieved the WBC MVPs in both tournament section and WBC championship 2023.
@@berrystar8838 I feel like you don't understand how good Lewandowski is or Messi. I'm actually the biggest Ohtani fan, but i'm realistic. If you didn't notice, I said "he could be on a GOAT trajectory" as in the greatest player of all time. I'm hoping Ohtani will be that. Now onto stats. Lewandowski is someone that has led offense categories like that in his sport as well. It's just that Messi has done that for 20 years. Messi has Bonds like seasons with 73 goals, similar Bonds' 1.422 OPS season with .609 OBP. This is the type of thing we are talking about.
Honestly, this is first time I've had to argue against someone pro-Ohtani lol. Just realize that saying Ohtani is Manuel Neuer + Lewandowski is fucking huge compliment. Don't take offense to that and act like I was somehow talking down Ohtani.

Currently, people are saying $500 million minimum to $600 million when he becomes a free agent in 2023.
And MLB changed the rules for Ohtani.. so that he can pitch and hit in the same game as a DH (designated hitter).
In 2021, he had 46 home runs, 26 stolen bases and 156 strike outs when he pitched. He won the MVP in 2021.
And in 2022, Aaron Judge won MVP having 61 home runs.
In baseball, pitchers can't hit to save their lives.. LOL except Ohtani of course. And batters can't NOT pitch to save their lives either.. LOL Except Ohtani of course.
